I still remember this from when i was about 5 or 6 years old. Finding the witch hot instead of scary, but this game is stil seriously fucking with my depth perception :S
Hah am i really that friggin old that i almost didnt remember what this was.. I remember watching this as a kid on TV, but never had the courage to call, because the hostess was my second cousin. :P
I remember it was on Motormouth on CITV here the UK on saturday mornings that use to show this game, contestants would ring in and tell the directions over the phone line.
@mrgame221 lets say alot if you live in europe they are pretty easy to find i dont know if they came out in america so if you live in america you have to download the games i even think its still continueing till this day
LOL this is my favourite game, and Hugo is of course my favourite caracter, i just made the download yesterday if someone wants it just type in the words "hugo loquendo" in the youtube searchbox and then click on the link that is on the description of that video
I need that codepaper for this game so badly cause I have it for pc but I have lost the paper can someone please give me a link where that codepaper is posted
This game was made in denmark. im from denmark myself. and i remember the show called elevatoren on danish channel TV2. as a kid on 4-6 years old i always watched this. my VERY good childhood memories along with the danish C64 game called OSWALD and SUPER OSWALD. where ur ice bears jumping on iceblocks. i like that Hugo actually Talks in danish.i do think there is versions of hugo where they have been dubbed this game in other languages.
oh, there's a swedish version, where they did the same thing on TV and everything. That was what I did every morning before going to school, though I suppose I'm younger since they had more modern version at the time (although I remember this one when I was really young..)
madre mía, yo tenía 5 años por entonces y es de lo poco que me acuerdo de esa época...el juego de las vías de tren estaba, no? pero cómo era exactamente, jugaba una persona desde casa?
I loved these games. Actually as a kid i never really got to play them but there was a TV program called Eleva2eren where people called in and controled Hugo. I really enjoyed watching that as a kid.... Good times:)
Btw. It always annoyed me that no one ever choose the 4th rope in afskylias cave
I have readed and all that, went to some pages and I didn't found it...but can you please send me a pm with the download link? I would be very grateful
Well, I remember back in the the middle/end of the 90's this game being aired in Portugal and you played it from home, through the telephone.
It seems that the game worked pretty well in here from what I remember. At least nobody complained and lots of people used to win:P
But well, the game was aired in the RTP 2, (and just like BBC2 in England, it was owned by the Portuguese State) so, apparently the state didn't like to steal money from people... back into that time...
Oh shit. This game was made from a show in german TV "Kabel-1". Players cold call the moderator and play it live on TV. The controlls (telefon's number pad) were sooo fuck-olutely hooky and SLOW, that NO player ever had the chance to win or get far. Maybe they even cheated and jammed the controlls. This entire game was a pure cashcow and for the lamest of stupid ppl.
Well, at least Hugo looks like it was designed specifically for telephone control. We had Hugo in Finland too, and the competing channel had a similar game show that did something more ambitious - *normal* console games, modded to work with tonedial controls (sounds good? Four magic words: "sponsored by Philips CD-i". =)
Phillips CDi says it all. I bet most people here wont even know that thing, for the same reason XD. But i do not understand how such "normal" videogames, that ran quite fast, could be done with telephone-controlls. The controlls must have sucked so BAD, it hurts. For example "Hugo" were extremly simple games with few contoll options(mostly restricted to left+right) and the system was already fucked up. How did they expect to work on normal games. I d like to have seen that, lol.
?v=H39PTZBgwik <-- this is, fortunately, from some PlayStation racing game. the funny thing is, they're playing the game *in studio* and still use the telephone controls. (But glad to know that both studio players and call-in players had equally sucky controls =). Technical problems were common; in this clip they had to restart the game because the player was given the wrong control pad. (Now, imagine that glitchiness when calling to the expensive game phone line in live TV broadcast...)
You're not right there mate. This "game" actually originated from Denmark from a danish show called Eleva2eren. The "game" then caught on in other european countries, and one of them was Germany.
This game was played on TV when i was young...U would call the tv show, the host would connect u and u would play the game through keypad on your phone. I remember i got a Hugo T-shirt becouse i finished 3 levels heh!
>>weird how a danish game not initially made for the Amiga<<
I strongly believe that the TV version ran on an expanded Amiga, because it has all the typical Amiga elements in it (running in 320x256, copperlist colour gradient in the background...). All differences between this and the TV version are probably due to memory restrictions on the floppy discs and main memory, cutting out some animation and speech phrases.
omg, hugo is pure epic greatness. we also had the television show in finland. i remember watching episode when i was a kid. also had it later on pc, which had the railroad and airplane stages.
This seemed to be in every place in the world back then. In Spain there also was a TV show ("El Telecupón") with these games being played by phone speakers.
