oh yeah my play had wickershams and they do all the really fancy stuff like sumersaults off ppl and we're a middle school play!!!! the music sounds so much bettter off cd tho... which is what we used.... but it still sounds good.

I'm sure you're from Canon Mac and like I say to everyone, most people prefer their own over other peoples. I'm sure I'd like my show more then what I am assuming is a school.

In my opinion, Seussical is supposed to be played as if the characters are storytellers, all thought up in JoJo's head. Which means that the things on stage aren't actually "an elephant" or "a bird". They're JoJo's thoughts taking the form of these things. The extremely literal costumes take away from that.
And I know you're really proud of your show and the set was AMAZING, but i think the singing and orchestra was kind of way off sometimes.
You know, that's the first time somebody has EXPLAINED why they shouldn't be literal costumes instead of just SAYING they shouldn't be. I never thought of it that way. Good point. :)
actually, the costumes were a great take on it.. it is the audience's imagination that is being utilized... jo jo is the original thinker..but he is also a part of the story. the costumes ADD .. not detract from the story. Frankly, most groups don't want to use them due to the expense and frankly they are too much for the actors... they really aren't needed as the audience quickly knows who is who... (pun fully intended).. but it was interesting to see a production take it to that level.
"you are all one of jojo's thinks...you are not a real animal, so choose your costumes carefully."
so i also think that the cosutmes took away from it...
but on the plus side, of all the productions i have seen, none of them have costumes this literal, so i think that it was interesting to see their take on it. the set was amayzing! and yes, the singing and orchestra was wayy off...but overall it was a very nice performance.

Costumes= Way over done. Song= Way too fast. Good voices though. Nice set. :)
Check out my seussical type CMS seussical. It' better in person though. And we also broke fourth wall. Oops.
