  • I was just told my band sounds like these guys so I decided to check them out. Glad to know it was a compliment!

  • If you love Fishbone, you'll dig the band PapaFish out of SoCal, great music

  • In the 80's I used to work at Guitar Center. Once this guy came in & said he needed a whole bunch of new mics because the band he did sound for kept trashing them. I asked what band it was and he said Fishbone. I was really into them at the time so I asked the manager to let them sign these huge pieces of plywood autographed by the likes of Sting, Eric Clapton, Elton John ect... The band's roadies grabbed the pen & covered all the old names with dicks and fish skeletons! I hated that job anyway!

  • This should lighten the mood.....lol

And a reminder to my musician friends.....in 10 years....it doesnt matter how ghetto your video was! So get out there and start shooting!

  • Da Bone still rules today long live party at ground zero.

  • Interesting: sort of a cross between Tower of Power and Sun Ra...

  • Angelo, I still luv you all of these years later!! I promise 'THIS IS NOT A SHA-WADE!!!"

  • Fishbone are a very cool band. Are you hip?

  • "The Day After" and "Threads" made me realise how bad a nuclear war could be .B4 seeing those movies I was a bit naive about it

  • at 3:49 he looks like one of the wayans bros.

  • The only fishbone song I like. AWESOME!!!

  • Sure looks fun to be in this band. =)

  • "Fight for peace"? Wow. Complete opposites.

  • @SkitchRafe Not really. Peace isn't just lack of war, and one can fight without violence.

  • HA HA HA HAAA!!! NOBODY KNOWS WHAT GROUND ZERO IS, I LOVE IT!

  • perfect song for today!

  • Obama kicked Osama's butt!

The war ain't over yet, fight for peace!

  • Once took a friend to Holland when we were both 17 (from London) and she couldn't understand why. After FISHBOOOOONE at Pinkpop she seriously got it. Another friend couldn't get it and so I took him to a gig at the Marquee. Then he understood. Best live band ever.

  • This is what drugs do to you... Awesome!

  • @TheRhubarbIsASpy Reality is better. Guaranteed.

  • Awesome! Heard this hundreds of times growing up, but never got the name til now. Thanks YT

  • I'm sure my story is similar to so many. I got my first tattoo in 1989 and it was a fishbone logo. 21 years later, it's the ringtone on my cell and a constant in my life. I don't know if they're the best and I don't care, they are fishbone and that's freakin cool!

  • @thegools Thats so true, i mean it just takes a concert to a new level when the band memers do front flips into the croud, and the lead singer goes surfing!! I was even lucky enough to get hit in the head with a drumstick and make it home alive with it!!! haha -: D ~~FISHBONE and PEPPER come back to AZ!!~~

  • Funny how a song about nuclear war could sound so catchy and upbeat. That's ska for you!

  • Ouais ! les Fishbones : trop bon !

Moi aussi je les ai vu et je les ai suivi et accompagné ! On a même bu des coups ensemble, trop cool les gars !

  • I met the bassist and got a picture with him at the House of Blues tonight! :D

  • I talked to saxophone player for like two minutes at warped tour.

  • what the fuck

  • the black reel big fish

  • @seanfleming1 WTF. Reel Big Fish came years later and are not nearly as entertaining or good live. It should be the 80s Skatalites if anything.

  • i need to be high next time i view this

  • /watch?v=6bdr_2IAJWU

  • Play this in New York for epic lulz

  • Saw these guys live back in my college days, SIU carbondale campus. Best live band ever!

  • @jwheeler1969

...they played that show the year before I got there (I heard it was great).

But I did see The Toasters at Springfest the following year!

  • this is not a sherade!!! gah id kill a child to see them live

  • wow had no idea they were black - shows music has no color

  • I wish I could see Fishbone & The Untouchables together in concert.

  • what an underrated band. they were amazing live. i still occasionally see a fishbone t-shirt, and it reminds me that some got it. wear it proudly.

  • Literally haven't heard this in 20 years. Luv them the Specials, Madness, Inspector 7 and the Clash.

  • @kingrob29 The Clash and The Specials rock!

  • I will be very disappointed if they don't play this tonight...

  • going to see them tonight.... I think the last time I listened to them I was in high school ahhhhh.... going to be great!

  • seeing them at the Victoria Ska Fest, cant wait!

  • fishbone is red hot!

  • Best Live band ever.

  • @thegools

Yeah I agree, I saw them live yesterday!

    Insane show so great.

  • I had a 103 degree fever and was watching this video. Thought I was

fishbone in chicago this tuesday 3/2.wahoooooooooooooooooooo

  • chicago tuesday yaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • see you at wakarusa!!

  • From the image at 3:34 it looks like Ground Zero is ... Union Square ... Missles away!

  • Ah, good memories

  • WAKKA DOO WAKKA DOO WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA

  • I believe the head dresses are supposed to be the faceless leaders and wealthy that will survive nuclear war by going to the shelter for the "party"...

  • I thought "Freddy's Dead" is a great version of funk/metal/soul. Also "Shakey Ground" as well. Yeah, I know they're covers, but they had some of that funk/metal going on in those songs...

but then again, Fishbone is a well rounded band and if not THE best..one of THE best live concerts I've been to.

  • reminds me of oingo boingos forbidden zone somehow

  • 1980s Los Angeles @ 170 bpm!

  • This is not a charade!

  • Pure Fun and talent. Saw them many times and all I can say is mayhem. So much talent and energy; you couldn't stay on the floor. Stage dives and serious skankin' was in order.

  • this is in alot of movies

  • them damned yankee imperialists...

    gotta love that.

  • Still Fuckin Relevant.

  • you said it. and still funky as hell!!

  • this song is so catchy and amazing :D

  • Damn I love this song, I hope I can see them live one day.

  • this is their old good stuff. I wish I saw them back in the 80's or early 90's.

  • exactly. Their original lineup was the best!

  • not that Fishbone, or even the Skeletones make bad funk-metal music, it's just that they are so much better when they do ska.

  • I've been trying to find some Skeletones albums. Do you have any?

  • i have the first one .. autographed what'll yu trade ?

    it's not for sale , but .....

  • I'll trade you any ska cd you want.

But we're not going to send each other the real copy, just mp3s to each other.

  • oh .. it's an lp ..

i'll see about getting me one of those usb turntables ..

  • I want your LP how much?

  • Fishbone failed at NOTHING musically.

  • Trivia: This was the song that was actually playing on the boombox John Cusack was holding up in that scene in Say Anything...

  • No, the t-shirt that he was wearing WAS an old school Fishbone t-shirt. The Fishbone song featured in the movie was Skankin' to the Beat. It was on the album Truth and Soul. The boombox song was Peter Gabriels sell out song 'In Your Eyes'. I liked The Replacements "Within Your Reach" much better from that movie. But, only my opinion.

  • Right-o, but 'Skankin' to the Beat' is not on Truth and Soul.

Only on that movie soundtrack...or probably as a b-side on some single or something, who knows (unless there's been a re-release of T&S that added 'Skankin').

  • everytime i saw these guys live they just tore the walls down. Beholders of whats called Truth&Soul.

    miss you guys!

    -chef

  • Couldn't have put it better myself.

  • ska

  • classic party song

  • one thing about this song is it reflects on the whole Cold War tensions in the 80s.

this was when we had movies like Red Dawn, War Games, and Rocky IV

  • Arguably one of the all-time Great Live Performers...had a tremendous influence(along with their contemps. the Red Hots) on the whole punk, ska ,rock, reggae, funk fusion thing going on in the late 80's and the 90's. You know...Sublime, No Doubt, 311, etc. and yeah(Jabbadarth) I'm pretty sure on Mr. Bungle too.

  • these dudes are so awesome

  • I guess Mr. Bungle had some influence from these guys

  • The video was directed by Henry Selick, the same guy who did "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Coraline."

  • This reminds me of a Gwar or Green Jello video. Damn I love fishbone!

  • @OriginalShrimpVendor *facepalm*

  • wheres the intro?

  • ill get my gun

  • thesse guys rocked the club at pendleton back in 90

  • Saw them in dordrecht wantijpop 2006!

    They were good!

  • WTF??? It says ive watched this b4 and i just learned about the band. Well this is pretty good. looking at bands that tool toured with.

  • this is fucking amazing.

  • Anyone remember Tequila Mockingbird?...Angelo, if yer out there...You owe me a show. Cat and Fiddle 1989??? You, me, Tequila M. and Mr Green Jeans.

  • Tequila Mockingbird from Boston?

  • I'm not sure, I only knew them in LA. She used to wear a jacket with Tequila Mocking bird painted on the back. She very well may be from Boston.

  • Nice those Paliadum days were timeless...FISHBONE RIP IT

  • Saw Fishbone at the Hollywood Palladium in '88. I remember this song from freshman year in high school.

  • These guys are balls out awesome.

Makes me wanna shave my momma bald, bitch ass bald.

  • Hey, man... whatever makes you happy... I guess...

  • This song is in so many movies it's not even funny.

  • This is both one of the funniest videos I have ever seen (sorry but its new to me) and yours is one of the funniest comments.

  • My comment was directed at maniacbastard

  • I'm looking for a song by these guys about penises. I think its called the penis man

  • Party at ground zero

    A "B" movie starring you

And the world will turn to flowing Pink vapor stew

  • The first time I ever saw The Red Hot Chili Peppers was when they opened for Fishbone at The Keystone in Palo Alto in 85'. Fishbone and RHCP was pretty much a regular show at that venue and we NEVER missed a one. AMAZING memories, and GOOD times.

  • God, this brings back great memories! I saw Fishbone in Boston in the late 80's and still tell everyone it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It's a crying shame that their music went from this great ska sound to an aggressive rock sound which I just couldn't get into at all. This style is much more fun! Love the trumpets!

  • These cats played what THEY wanted .....and did it all well...anyways

GOD BLESS BUT GO USC AND BEAT KAL

  • dan ganas de bailar !!

    saludos desde chile

    SerenaSKAguante !!!

  • Love it still today.............long live Fishbone !

  • Agreed.. Lets beat up Soulja Boy and Justin Timberlake

  • fishbone....the 80's pop heir to sun ra

  • My god. Dahlia GETS it.

    Ignore these idiots who don't.

  • Enter "sun Ra" in the search bar.

  • kiff!

  • this is still a cracking ska tune

  • Man, they really cut a good chuck of the song out. Still awesome though.

  • Dumb video for a GREAT SONG!

  • Cool party song! Yeehaw!

  • Awesome song, great beat!

  • '86...Montezuma Hall, El Cortez Ballroom...???

  • Those sound like San Diego venues. Yes?

  • Yes. A long time ago, but they were great shows. Been there?

  • I went to SDSU in the early '90s and saw a couple of shows at Montezuma Hall. El Cortez was abandoned during that time. Now it's a fancy downtown condo complex. I saw Fishbone at Iguana's in TJ. Awesome & wild venue. Ever go there?

  • Iguanas was nuts!! Saw the Cramps a couple of times there, but my absolute favorite was Social Distortion in '91. Numerous shows at Montezuma, the OAT, and even the Backdoor. Good times. Still in SD?

  • I moved up to LA 6 years ago. I miss SD though. I saw Pearl Jam open for Alice in Chains at the Bacchanal in Clairemont Mesa and then headline a few months later at Winters near SDSU. The Bacchanal is now a computer store & Winters is a mortuary! Mr. Bungle at Iguanas was the wildest.

  • I was there! iguana's was like thunderDOME!

Bad Brains was crazy- saw Weller at Monezuma hall- shit fishbone too-new sounds of the 6t's anyone. i want roberto's now! Thank SD

  • This is such a cool song. Those clear masks are creepy.

  • Fishbone,24-7 Spyz & Living Colour?

    see 'angelofluidcorey'

  • I saw them for the first time in about 1982 in San Francisco openening for the original line-up Red Hot Chili Peppers. An absolutely amazing show! I had no idea who Fishbone was before the show and vaguely knew who the Peppers were. Tons of energy!!!! I think Fishbone got the better of all of us that night!

  • I Saw them last night at the Key Club in Hollywood with rebelution and B Foundation. It was my first show and it was and absolutly amazing expirence! Angelo is one of the greatest showmen ever. At the beginning of the show i went down stairs to buy a t-shirt and there was a man selling them with a suit, top hat, and cane. Talked to him for awhile and then went upstairs to watch the show and i found out the main i was talking to was the lead singer to Fishbone! Could believe it..amazing show

  • Whoa, that is so awesome! You are so lucky!

  • I had the privilege of seeing Fishebone at little club in Syracuse in 1987 UNBELIEVABLE! Angelo is a man possessed on stage and the horns are fantastic! It was the first time I'd ever experienced moshing! I got shoved up to the front during Party at Ground Zero, Angelo had his mic in one hand and an acrylic cane in the other. He hurled the cane, bent down, grabbed my hand and flipped over me and onto the crowd. He surfed the crowd back to front, singing the whole time and never missed a beat!

  • Whack a do.

  • Interesting tidbit: in this video Angelo says "play it Goldfinger" at around 1:27. On the album, he says "play it Boy Wonder"
