Just so i can listen to people explode with hate I like dodge. I really do, I have 215,000 miles on my truck and I had to replace the tranny at 180,000 but thats it. i rebuilt the engine too. Not because I had to but because it was getting old. But I have never had anything on it break or go bad besides things that you have to replace if you go 4X4 and drive it 215,000 miles.
@18CRS Also depends on the driving conditions. Shorted a plug wire on the valve cover at 72K miles, blew the lower intake manifold on my 02 F150 at 94K miles, lost my throwout bearing at 95K miles. A dodge cummins is looking very nice right now.
@zapityzapzap I wouldn't buy a Dodge at the moment, since Chrysler took over everything has gone from looking great on the outside, to look like shit on the inside, were as, it use to look like crap on the outside(how a truck should be) and looking great on the inside(how it should be)
Trust me, I know, my buddy bought a brand new Dodge ram 3500, looks great on the outside, looks like shit on the inside, I'd buy another ford any day of the week
@mirlin235 I haven't heard much good about the 6.7L Cummins. If I got one it would be a 5.9L. Either that or drop a 4BT into my F150. Absolutely love my father's 5.9 and that 7000lb truck gets 26MPG on that stock straight 6. Only truck I'd even consider buying new at the moment is the Duramax.
@zapityzapzap My buddy has one, great engine, shitty ass truck and quality, but for 60+ k you can get a nice truck, or atleast think it looks nice. The new Duramax sounds great, but I don't trust, and even want to buy a GM/Chevy product, the only thing I've heard about the Duramax is its problems, the man one being its a Iron block,with alumiun heads on top, which would melt, and the engine would blow up. Ford, and I'm not being biased or anything, but is the best, other there 6.0, which you can
@mirlin235 Fix, and make into one of the best diesel engines out there, I believe ford has come along way, look at the 6.4 and the 6.7, those things can out tow Duramax, and the Cummins, which is great! only downfall is that with the 6.4 you have to detune it and then retune it in the computer to make it so you get better gas milage, but other than that great motors!
However its your choice, I'd look for a really god 7.3L PSD and then rock out with that beast, those things will never die,really
Can't kill a Ford, my Grandpa says. He's owned TWO F-150's, his first was a late '80s F-150. It worked like a charm. He hit a deer with it at 40mph in 2003, causing plenty of damage to the front. But, amazingly, the thing still ran like new! But he still had to get rid of it because a repair would have cost more than the truck itself. Then, he got a '99 F-150, and he still has it, and he never complains about it. He abuses it alot for his firewood business, but he still hasn't killed it.
i tell some people sometimes when i get to messing with them about Chevys or Dodges (which i hate worse than CHevys)..that if it wasnt for Henry Ford there wouldnt be no chevrolet or Dodge...think about it
