It's really good that u guys all seem positive about Vietnam/being Vietnamese. However, when I live there for 13 years, everything before my eyes were really ugly and depressing. I see at the flee market, a young guy insulted an elder just to get a spot for business. I see husbands getting drunk and eat their wives up every night in my neighborhood. I see teachers always force the idea of HCM was the best person and that Americans were cruel animals. Maybe HCM was a nice man, but if Americans w

I still remember that my teachers use to hit me a lot, I always come back with bruises and probably bite marks (from a certain teacher >.>)
And even if I didn't get hit by a teacher, a kid would always start a fight and bring everybody to it, including me. I use to hate Vietnam, wanting to get away from it. But not that I looks at it again, it's quite beautiful just - all the bad stuff happened in the past.
It is such a beautiful song. It instills pride in who we are regardless of our skin color. Thanks to Quynh Anh for this song, allowing all of us who live abroad to be able to express our thoughts and feelings of how we are sometimes unjustly perceived by other cultures.
It should be voted as one of the best peace songs to against racism around the world.
