Besides his songwriting & performances I like Elton as a person. His opinions are right on except I disagree w/him on Lady Gaga. He is still so great and Leon survived! I saw him 16 years ago and I thought he was gonna die on stage. It was so sad and awful. He was playing under a tent in a parking lot wine/food festival. But he sounds like Dr. John here. Great song.

Look at Elisabeth faking it: she has not one clue of their significance, the influence these two men have had on so many lives.

I'll buy the Elton John/Leon Russell album as soon as I can. Elton John did a damned good thing getting Leon Russell back on deck. Leon Russell is far too precious a resource to waste and lose. Good move, Sir Elton.

@ sweetnpeachy1 I recall on a letterman performance Leon once said just before playing a song something like: "hold on, seems to be some blotter paper stuck in the foot pedal". Gonna see if it's posted hereabouts!!

I am so thankful for this..I saw it back in October when it was on originally, but didn't know it was going to be on to set the DVR. I absolutely love the whole CD, and though I know Leon isn't necessarily into being in the spotlight (or being on early am tv!), but I'm so glad this appearance opened his (and Elton's) to a whole new generation!! Rock on, my heroes, Rock on...you're never too old!!

Wow, Elton reminds me of the good old days of Elton John. And Leon Russell has a new fan. I've heard of him and a couple of his songs, However, I wasn't into his music at the time. As I hear him sing, his voice takes me back when I did hear him on the radio. After hearing them together head to head on the pianos, I can't wait to hear the whole CD and maybe attend a concert when they perform together again.

I guess when you've had as much success as he has it's hard to be humble and not just criticize everything that's out there if it isn't Rocket Man or Daniel. All that being said, I have the album and it's AMAZING. His last album Captain and the Kid and now this album are fantastic from beginning to end, there isn't a single song I feel like skipping. I love the man, but he is a little pompous at times.

I sometimes think Elton puts his foot in his mouth sometimes by the things he says. When he talks about songwriters and pop songs these days not lasting, or being forgettable, or not timeless, he comes off a bit of a snob. I know not many people come close to the success and the quality of songs he's performed over his career (he's not a song writer himself, keep in mind), but honestly he has had some absolute god-awful crap garbage songs on his records that will never see the light of day.

Really? He's not a songwriter? A songwriter is someone who writes the lyrics, the music, or both. He is in fact a songwriter. Bernie is his lyricist.
