@coyote47713 The ship was SWARMED with torpedo-firing aircraft, meaning that the damage went below the waterline, where the ship was most vulnerable, and the ship had a ton of targets. In addition, they nearly all attacked from a single side, meaning half of the guns were unable to participate.

@coyote47713 Torpedo planes also have a habit of skimming the water as they approach the target. On some ships AA guns cannot fire lower then a certain angle (it was at least that case with Germany's Bismark battleship). Additionally, torpedos are easier to "aim" then a dive bomb so they can be released further from the ship.
