Does anyone know what the price is the slaves are getting paid, the costs for the transport is, the farmers earn and the multinationals earn? I would be pleased if someone would answer.
@Nienke3892 Watch the doco The dark side of chocolate this will have all the info. From off the top of my head 230 Euros for a child to be shipped across the boarder
@aerialrose when is Cadbury switching? They are in the process right now. You'll notice that more and more of their chocolate products are now getting the fair trade symbol on their package. Their dairy milk bar is fair trade as well as a few others at this very moment.
Uh, think again. Mars is switching to fair trade by 2020...that's nowhere near now. They're starting also with a popular brand only sold in Europe. Your Twix is most definitely not Fair Trade.
Unfortunately, also the fair trade chocolate farms use child slaves. Watch the Danish documentary "The Dark Side of Chocolate" by Miki Mistrati and the BBC Panorama documentary "Chocolate - The Bitter Truth". But I guess choosing fair trade is still better than not choosing it.
Spread the word and put pressure on your chocolate manufacturers!
I and a growing number of people believe in a boycott of all products bearing the 'fairtrade' quango insignia and urge everyone else to do the same. This is NOT fair trade!
Well, lets take Nestle Kitkat for instance - they will shortly be making this fairtrade - now what happens to the cocoa farmers who presently supply Nestle but arent fortunate enough to be selected for fairtrade certification? And I don't think the typical 10% of the premium people pay for fairtrade chocolate, that actually goes to the fairtrade farmers is worth making a vast many more potentially poorer. Fair trade is very unfair and nothing more than a marketing device.
this is a well gud vid. it has inspired me to make a change. i am only buying fairtrade stuff now! and i have written letters to all the major super markets in the uk and to cadburys and nestle. i have also written letters to the PM, david cameron, nick clegg, the queen and the duke of edinbourgh
even after watching something as serious as that you people are bickering over petty trivial matters, what is wrong with you people, get a heart will you !!!!!!
Yes the government is doing its best but it's not enough. The consumer still needs to do their best to insist on fair trade cocoa beans. And no not all the slaves are from the Ivory Caost but a majority are because that is where the cocoa plantations are.
well i don't know if all of dis really happened because even when i used 2 live in Ivory coast , i lived in the capital so if something lik da did happen i never knew that...
you're taking information given, changing it, and then disaprooving itso you're truely not disaprooving anything. However You are prooving that your an idiot.
