  • training this now......... hard as fuck!!!

  • Jeff=guitar god

  • Has no passion?!!! Have you heard the solos for Haunted or Downright Dominate? Have you heard the fucking solo for Knight Jumps Queen?!!! Or are you just fucking retarded? He is one of the very most passionate guitarists out there, he has more feeling than almost any guitarist you could ever name. Just because he CAN and DOES play fast does not mean he has not passion or soul. That is the most retarded thing I have ever heard. You wanna tell me Buckethead has no passion too? Idiot.

  • @l00knup2u Same thing with Jason Becker and Marty Friedman. Fast and VERY technical, but it has probably the most emotion and soul and passion that could possibly be put forth into music.

  • @13Rover13 totally true.

  • major scale in sixths

  • is he wearing an independant trucks t-shirt? does any1 knw if he skates thn

  • I finger pick this

  • 'Betcha can't play this with Jeff waters'

  • Even Jeff Loomis would have trouble with this.

  • Talk about a fucking Betcha Can't Play This..

  • this is like spider chord's brother, spider walk, they both look like spiders when played

  • I'm having a hard time doing this lick at diddleh-diddleh-dideleh speed

  • hehehe maaan if you can't do it...what chance have WE got? lol =)

  • need tabs, can't download that file

  • ...No i cant :c

  • Where the fuck is Chuck Schuldiner, he should be on the list

  • This is alot like a buckethead lick.

This guy seems really really down to earth, quality man.

Don't know much about his music though.

  • Dave mustaine is not that great of a lead guitarist, he admitted it, but his music is very intricate. Jeff Waters is not that great of music background, but his leads are definitly better

  • @arangel72 Been a fan of megadeth for years though the last 10 have been terrible for them.

I never, even at the height of my pasion for them thought much of any of their solos.

  • @arangel72 where did he admit it ?

  • Yingwie Malmsteen is a dick, Jeff isn't ,.. JEFF OWNS!!

  • He's Never a Dick! He's one of the greatest musicians I ever met! I met him last year and told him how great he was playing, and he didn't stop to thank me for the words I said to him.

  • jeff waters is not a dick. met him in person twice. both times he was more personable and down to earth than any metal legend ive ever met. now dave mustaine.... he's an egotistical prick. love his music...he's one of my heroes but my god....hes a fuckin diva.

  • @Willybird37 LOOL, WTFF dave mustaine isnt a dick LOL, iv met him more than enough times to know that hes a genuinly nice person and down to earth, i dont know where your getting theys werid ideas from xD

  • LINK FAIL

  • It is quite simple theorically, is just a normal major scale played by sixths.

  • is he still using ran guitars?

  • tabs for this?

  • jeff is the best thing to come outta canada. cept their weed

  • hes a good teacher direct simple and down to earth

  • That would be awesome in a riff, just to throw in at the end or something really quick. Or something like it.

  • Jeff is fucking hilarious

  • jhahjahjajhajhajhajhajhahjahjaj ese wey se esta burland0 de mustaine hjahjahjajhajhajh l = ke spider ch0rd y esas mierdas ¡¡ke se saka jhahjahjahjahjahjajha

Randy Rhoads 5. Dimebag Darrel 6. Jeff Waters 7. Jake E. Lee 8. Yngwie 9. Steve Vai 10. Joe Walsh 11. Eric Clapton 12. Guitarist from Accept (god, what's his name...) 13. George Lynch
  • @megadeathfans96 i like your list except for i think IMO 1.Dave Mustaine 2.Randy Rhoads 3.Dime 4.Alexi 5.waters

  • This dude is the man it's a shame more bands don't have awesome dudes like him. Jeff waters I bow to you.

  • many people think that metal stars are satanic a disrespectful to people(well some)

but majority arnet and are really cool people and are generous to others and a content of what they have.

now a days people just want what they want and think

  • That is some wicked guitar skill.

  • great guitar player

  • cool vid, good excercise, too. Thanks for putting the link for the TAB on here too, dude. Nice one :)

  • "This is for the Guitar players out there, obviously, so I do it REALLY slow first"

    XD

somehow it sounds like he would bash us XD

    Gotta love Jeff

  • I have it indented in my brain but I can't do it as nearly fast as him

  • is there tabs for this?

  • tabs are in the description

  • if you dont have a rar file opener thing i have it in text form too

  • *couch* Steve Vai

  • What do you mean by that? Jeff Waters has no passion? I would never say that, hes passionate but of course its not easy to get passion across in the music he plays, But you can't say that with recods like Alice In Hell and Metal that hes not passionate about what he does, I would call him one of the guys who has stayed true to the music after all these years

  • dude, it is an excercise thats supposed to improve the coordination of your fingers. jeff waters already said that it sounds boring and its only useful to practice your coordination.

  • The purpose of this piece is to challenge yourself technically, it's an exercise...not a song.

  • If he's not doing right this exercise, and he is god in his solos, how nice he'll play if he do it right?

  • That's a very punishing exercise.

  • Jeffs new hair is awesome. Better than too long and way better than the short hair.

    But that's not really important.

He's not playing the Spiderwalk like it's ment to be. As he says, he's not able to do it at the moment cause it's still too hard for him.

    And that's great !

Everyone needs to practice. That's what he's showhing here and keeps me believing that i shouldn't throw my guitar against the wall.

And i'm wooooooooorse than Jeff Waters and many others.

    So...thx Jeff :)

    Rock on.

  • @mantelmann13

better than his old bowl cut fringe LOL

  • my dreams is to see Jeff Waters in Megadeth

  • His band Annihilator is plenty good enough, better than Megadeth IMO.

  • hold the fucking camera still for a goddamn minute!

  • is that his signature guitar or a standard black Gibson Flying V?

  • Ran custom made signature guitar

  • I agree but is look like a Gibson

i know he's playing his own sign. guitar of Ran

  • agree that he's not the best guitar player ever but try to play a megadeth song from the first 5 albums and sing at the same time. you'll realize how good he is

  • uhmm i really can not believe you just had the nerve to say that. there is a reason he is more popular than waters. they are both damn fine guitarists. wow.

  • Are you stupid?

  • Yeah I am. Are you still pussy lipping it?

  • you're right. DM is way over-rated

  • @jpunch i think Mustaine is a great guitar player but Jeff and Marty are in leagues of their own

  • I like it how Jeff is all like "Yeah I Can't do it" after he does it. Modest guy. He knows how good he is.

  • Dave is an Okay guitarist.

Chris B and Jeff W are much better though.

  • okay?man he paved the way for thrash riffs..ask anybody.Hetfield,King,Ian,Waters,Skolnick,Kisser even Holt all admit it.

  • dave mustaine

    jeff waters

    eddie van halen

    alexi laiho

    randy rhoads

    dimebag darrell

    is a fucking beast

  • @megadethfans96 what about tommy t baron from coroner? imo he a fucking shit hot guitarst

  • well he prolly don't eaven know this great Swiss band exists (exsisted) cuz he only listed most commercial and overrated gutarists in the whole metal scene... not saying any of those are bad tho but there are TONS of bands which people never heard of because they never look outside the commercial stuff .... people are so fucking afraid of looking up obscyre stuff

  • @glasgowdmon

    Coroner!!!!

    REBORN THROUGH HATE!

  • take out that fruitcake alexi laiho and throw in Jari Maenpaa. Ty.

  • @DZSCaptain Agreed, Jari Maenpaa is another godly guitarist who is completely under rated.

  • ahaha are you serious? check out chris storey : watch?v=IHMzsHhzalo

he destroys all those in your list.

  • But chris storey is in the same boring mood of all those "shredders" only overdoing the same sweeping and trem picked patterns. I´m not saying he´s a bad player though.

  • @megadethfans96 you forgot Gary Holt

  • @megadethfans96

Roope is better than alexi )) alexi have speed?but roope much better play he play technical.Jeff playing better than Dave...And tou forget about Yngwie malmsteen or Kirk From metallica.

  • Comment removed

  • @megadethfans96 Take away Alexi Laiho for a start and replace him with Phil Demmel

  • @megadethfans96 laiho should step aside

  • @megadethfans96 what about kirk hammit

  • @the2brosstudios just shut the fuck up

  • @the2brosstudios kirk hammet* sucks ass

  • @megadethfans96 Nice list man! :D Dimebag, Jeff and laiho is the shit! Randy too, eddie to. Oh fuck it there are so many :P Jeff beck is nice ;)

  • @megadethfans96 Actually dave mustaine is only a rythym guitarrist, the real megadeth guitarrists are marty friedman and chris broderick

  • @iluvchopsticks Your wrong he also does leads ,when he was in metallica he was the lead guitar, not trying to bash you but dave has alot of talent than just rythm guitar .

  • @ByronW365 I agree with you, but IMO he is just another magalomaniac guy that thinks he is the guitar god and that tries to play all the solos when he clearly sucks at soloing.

  • @iluvchopsticks That attitude comes from being sucessful , money changes people i'm sure he is a complete douche, but i like his music ...

  • @megadethfans96 Hey Wheres Chuck Schuldiner and Andy LaRocque.

  • @megadethfans96 Laiho is shyte but the rest is great

  • @megadethfans96 tey azagthoth

  • @megadethfans96 Alexi laiho sux man..his solos are sloppy because of his drinking...Roope is way better than him

  • He's a really honest player, he'll always joke when he fucks up. Doesn't seem pretentious like some other players.

  • this tecnique was use by progressive or tecnique metal band

  • Jeff Waters rules, he's by far my favorite guitarist!

  • thanks for putting the tabs on. it's kinda confusing to look at, when jeff is playing it.

    jeff is the man!

  • wtf?! thats weird!

  • wonderfull, i have do update my guitar pro version -.-

  • i prefer dave but this guy is really good, dave didnt invent the spider chord i think he just made it popular likle how van halen made tapping really popular, neither invented it but both made it better.

  • Now I'm just waiting for Dave to try and yell at Jeff saying "I INVENTED THAT" lmao

  • Spiderwalk>Spiderchord (or spiderriff I forget what it's called)

  • Agreed entirely (and I think it's Spider Riff?) I'm just pointing out how hilarious it is that Dave thinks he 'invented' it and I wouldn't be surprised if he saw this and tried pulling the same crap lmao

Even though they're two different things, I can pretty much guarantee he'd say something along the lines of 'he's using the technique I invented' or something lol

  • Eh I don;t think Dave would say that.

Especially considering how much respect Dave shows whenever Jeff Waters is involved, also considering he asked Jeff 2-3 times to be the lead guitarist for Megadeth.

Plus Dave is just blunt, he's not a dick lol. And he knows and admits when a guitarist is better at playing guitar then him.

  • I agree, but only because this is Jeff we're talking about.

Dave does seem to claim he invented the spider riff though, when people have been using that 'technique' for ages, all he really did was slap a name on it and claim that he invented it. Pretty ridiculous.

But yeah, Jeff and Dave are pretty close, so I don't see him saying anything.

but I still think that if this were anyone else, he'd probably say something stupid ahah

  • Wait, so Dave DIDN'T invent the spider riff!?

  • No, Dave Mustaine made the spider chord.

We know Dave Mustaine > Jeff Waters

  • Yeah we all know Dave made the spider chord

How do you figure Dave is better than Jeff?

No really, I really can't think of many things. Jeff imo is just an all around better guitarist.

  • You're kidding me, right?

You're allowed to have your own opinion on who's better (though I think most of the people here would disagree with you unless they're Mustaine fanboys) but how do you figure he invented the Spider Chord?

You do know what the 'spider chord' is, right?

It's simply an alternate way to play two different chords. Want to know a little secret? People have been doing that for AGES, long before Mustaine. Hell it's almost as bad as people who think Van Halen invented tapping

  • Dave invented the spiderCHORD.... Not the walk....

  • First of all, I did not say he invented the Spiderwalk. Secondly, he did not invent the Spiderchord either.

The 'Spiderchord' is something people have been doing for decades. Dave did not invent it. It's simply an easier way to alternate between chords, the same method which people have been using for ages. All Dave did was throw a name on it.

In other words, Dave took credit for one thing he didn't invent, I can see him doing it again.

  • Actually, yes, that's EXACTLY what you said. Can you not read your message? It implies that you think he invented it.

Also, with your logic no one invented anything as far as the guitar goes. It was done and someone is the first to make it popular. Like Yngwie and sweep picking in the early 80's. No one really did that shit. Though he didn't INVENT, he INNOVATED it. Do you get what I am saying? It's hard to explaing.

  • Is English not your first language?

Your post seems well structured, don't get me wrong, however you seem to completely lack an understanding of humor. I was joking about how Dave has a habit of taking credit that he hasn't earned, and how despite the differences I could see him saying something stupid about the Spiderwalk being his own creation because he'd probably claim it's a similar concept to the spiderchord

    (continued in next comment)

  • I do understand what you're saying, and I agree as far as innovation goes, but what I'm saying here is that Mustaine did not innovate, improve upon, or invent what he calls the 'spiderchord'

It is a common rule among musicians to play with as little hand movement as possible (in terms of transitions from notes, lifting the fingers as little as possible, and not having to slide around more than you have to) and (continued again, screw Youtube's commenting limits..)

  • and because of this rule Musicians have been doing what Mustaine calls the 'spiderchord' for ages. It's not a technique, it is common sense. Well, that's not fair, it IS a technique, but the point is it is the furthest thing from a new or innovative technique.

To claim you invented it like Mustaine does is absolutely absurd, he simply slapped a name on it and took the credit on a technique that's been used extensively for ages.

btw, saw your vid, Nice Schecter.

  • Well, he does actually use that concept in songs, and by all means he was the first to actually do that. So in my eyes, and alot of others' eyes, he invented it.

    And thank you. :)

I love my schecter. But I used to have another account with all my good videos on it and it got deleted due to the shittiest copywrite you will have EVER heard of.

  • I still wouldn't call that inventing though. It's like..lets put it in a different perspective

Alternate picking. It's a technique to make things easier, right? Another technique which has been used for as long as picks have existed to accompany a guitar. Did the modern musicians who use alternate picking invent it? Of course not, they gained it from either common sense, or learning from others. Same applies to Dave.

and I don't blame you, I have a Schecter to and she's my pride and joy :)

  • eeh, evh did the same thing w/ tappin man.

  • I know, I think I actually pointed that out earlier, but that could have been another video (on the same topic, though)

Though if I'm not mistaken, with EVH it was the fans who assumed he invented tapping, not him who claimed it. (but I could be wrong)

Dave Mustaine shamelessly openly claims to have invented the 'spiderchord' every opportunity he gets, which I personally find several times more pathetic

  • Atcually (with EVH) it depends on when he was interviewed. Some interviews he says he invented it, some he says he didnt...its kind of confusing.

  • Oh, I didn't know that

Thanks for clearing that up, it's always nice to learn little tidbits like this.

The thing is I can meet half way with EVH, because whether he invented it or not, he was one of the very first people to use it in Rock in the context he did. Mustaine took a technique that has been used in just about every genre and called it his own.

Obviously people have been tapping before Van Halen, but it was relatively new to rock. Same cannot be said about Spiderchords

  • By the way, I'm not saying it's any more right for Van Halen to take the credit on something that's been around long before he started doing it. I'm just saying that with tapping I can see it from both perspectives, but Dave wasn't even innovative. He took common sense and called it his own invention. I think that's pretty arrogant, personally

  • Oh yeah (even though Dave, Jeff, Eric Peterson and James Hetfield are my main infulences) I definitley agree thats pretty arrogant.

  • Well I'm glad you can agree without allowing yourself to have a biased opinion, then.

I think Dave is a phenomenal guitarist, and also an influence of mine musically. I just think he's a prick on a personal level. :P

There are people who ignore his obvious skill because he's a prick, and people who will never admit he's a dick because they're fans of his skill. I personally don't ever wish to be biased like that, and I'm glad you see things the same way. (Peterson is majorly underrated btw!)

  • Yeah hes definitley a prick lol And Peterson IS way underrated.

  • For sure.

As for Peterson, he's not only one of the tightest rhythm players I've heard (which he does get a lot of credit for) but he has some really nice, tasty and unique leads. Sure, he's no Skolnick, but he never really seems to get the respect he deserves because he's ALWAYS being compared to Alex.

I trust you've heard Peterson's side project Dragonlord? They're the perfect band to showcase what Eric's truly capable of. Phenomenal player!

  • nah, ill check em out tho, could you tell me what some of their better songs are?

  • Ah, well they're black metal. Not sure if you're into Black Metal, but they mix elements of Thrash and Black Metal to create a pretty unique sound.

I'm not a fan of Black Metal personally, with some exceptions, but Dragonlord are fantastic

I'd recommend Until The End (which you can see the video for here on Youtube :P), Unholyvoid, Judgement Failed, and Born to Darkness. For starters anyway. :P

Lemme know if you like 'em, I love turning people onto new bands, especially if they like them :P

  • yeah bro i love em!!!! check out my faves lol. yeah i like some black metal...mostly emporer.

  • Emperor are awesome, but shit dude I Haven't heard them in ages!

Though I LOVE their cover of A Fine Day To Die by Bathory (who is another one of my favorite Black Metal bands)

    I also love Goatwhore

As you can tell, I'm not a fan of traditional black metal, more the stuff that strays from the norm :P

I love Peterson's growls in Dragonlord, because they're so unique by Black Metal standards

  • yeah, have you heard their great cover of "emerald" by thin lizzy? Its awesome, honestly i think peterson should do more clean singing after hearing that!

  • Yeah, I think so

They have a new album coming out in December, too. :)

  • how is he a dick? he seems like a nice guy

  • How is Dave a dick?

He's just too wrapped up in this whole act of trying to prove he's the best out of everyone. I'm not saying Dave doesn't have any admirable traits, he can be a really nice guy, but sometimes he needs to learn to shut his mouth and show his fans some respect.

He's always insulting his fans over trivial (sometimes not so trivial things) and getting into these constant feuds. He needs to learn to smarten up.

Let us not forget when he tossed his guitar across the stage, too..

  • No way man, Jeff is awesome. I would never call him a dick, he's one of the nicest, funniest musicians in metal.

I do agree with everything you said though, except for Faggot (which just seems a little uncalled for) and sucks at guitar. Say what you will about Dave, he is a douchebag and deserves no respect on a human level. But he's a phenomenal guitarist (even if his compositional skills have seriously gone downhill *cough*Endgame*cough*)

He's no Jeff Waters though, but then again, who is?

  • nobody is perfect!!!!

i thing he got problem he dont belive to his self and he is trying to prove he is the best!!!!

but he is sure in the top5 so he deserves it!!!!!

  • @PhiyukYu hes canadian, were not dicks, the only dick to come out of canada is beiber, and i know him personally so i can say that.

  • @PhiyukYu hes canadian, were not dicks, the only dick to come out of canada is beiber, and i know him personally so i can say that. NOT JEFF, i meant beiber

  • @PhiyukYu Exactly, seems a genuine guy and human!

  • @PhiyukYu He don't seem like a dick to me everything I've seen him in he's got a cool attitude, and how could he be a dick he's Canadian and Canadian's don't know how to be dicks lol

  • Lol. I love how when he messes up he hardly messes up at all and hes like -_- I cant play it. He so fucking good!!

  • wow if he cant play it that great, it must be ridiculously hard

  • Thanks, to Jeff, for putting this stuff out. Very cool. It's great to see an awesome guitarist, like Jeff, demoing stuff that he can't play smoothly. You can learn a lot from that.

  • so jeff has the spiderwalk and dave mustaine has the spider chord . i wonder whats next

  • spider picking XD

  • lol

  • the spiderweb. xD

  • SPIDER SWEEPS! ;D

    Lol.

  • fuck sounds hard lol

  • Idk why but I lol'd hardest at Spider sweeps lol.

  • Hahaha XD

  • A spider walking chord.

  • Spider harmonic lol

  • yea, he's the man

can't wait the see 'em live

  • At first glance it looks like he's downpicking all of that, is he?

  • nope

  • Alternate

  • jeff waters is the man, ive talked to him online thru email and his forums and he is honestly a really good guy and my fav guitarist.

  • can you give me his email address, cuz i need words of wisdom from him.

  • Jeff is the MAN!

    The coolest guy!

    SO down on earth!

    Guitar legend!

  • Comment removed

  • i think Jeff has to prove nothing after all these years of playing.this riff is damn so difficult though...

  • Tabs are now reupped, sorry to keep you waiting.
