The Heinkle bomber being shot down by the RAF Spitfire was from the Battle of Britain, which is also shown in this movie. (Pearl Harbor) It wasn't a mustang anyways because those came later in the war. To answer the other question this song is called Wishmaster by Nightwish. I myself love this song due to this rather amazing video.
