@johanna006 It gets more of the 'good bits' off the cob because it's contoured to the shape of a cob rather than straight like a knife, it also has comb structures that get in between the rows and avoid the nasty 'woody' bits that you sometimes get when you use a knife. Unless you've tried it you perhaps wouldn't see the benefits....a knife works good too.
I have a very sharp knife the ex-boyfriend gave, he is a chef and it works great too!
I also buy the best corn on the cob from the farmers market, shuck it all and put in freezer zip lock bags, this way I have frest corn all winter until the farmers market opens up again in spring and I usually have enough till next crop season!
@Msrebelgirl86 I used to use sharp knife, it works pretty good but the little gadget is quicker, safer, less messy and gets more kernels with less of the fibrous cob....it works for me. We freeze loads every year.
@nanashi1o3 I purchased a tool from Pampered Chef that remoces the corn from the cob so easy. and I love my tool. I use to cut it off with a knife for years but no more. Purchase your tool from Pampered Chef. Contact this person by email. and she can even mail you the tool. ITS WONDERFUL !! want2bpamperedchef@gmail.com

It doesn't seem to be an improvement over knives. It leaves all the good bits on the cob still.

Was that corn raw or cooked?
ShaniqaPikes 4 months ago
@ShaniqaPikes That was fresh corn, not cooked being stripped to be frozen.

@nanashi1o3 I agree, but for freezing I think the folks who will be eating the corn would rather I cut it off than bite it off.
