  • You wanna occupy something? Go occupy the white house. That's where all the failed policies were wrote! Chatting lines aloud is Socialism, very bad idea!

  • These people need to put as much energy in being responsible and accountable for themselves as they do trying to blame everybody else...I am where I am in life because I allowed myself to be here....stop blaming and start doing

  • didnt even last 5 seconds

  • @ductraep What didn't? As of yesterday at least, Occupy Asheville was still active. I haven't checked in on them today, but their Facebook page is still fairly active.

  • @MXSShanafelt These people are against 1% of the population owning 47% of the countries wealth, yet they have a fucking facebook page, pretty much making more money for Mark Zukerberg? WTF.

  • @scruffy688 How would you suggest they most effectively organize and spread their message beyond their immediate real-world social circles?

  • @MXSShanafelt I think this already gets publicized enough.

  • @scruffy688 In what sense?

  • @MXSShanafelt In the news, various websites, etc.

  • I wish they did all look like a bunch of hippies but what do you expect its ashville its filled with em.

  • Support from El Paso texas!

  • LOVE the idea of powering this with a bicycle! Rock on!

  • LOVE FROM CALIFORNIA!

  • Is there going to be any more of these in Asheville?

  • @ericzum yes, check the site for details occupytogether (dot) org

  • Suggestion: Change AVL to Asheville NC. No one knows what AVL means. Check out the videos for Occupy Columbus too

  • "What do we mean by the Revolution? The war? That was no part of the revolution; it was only an effect and consequence of it. The revolution was in the minds of the people, and this was effected from 1760 - 1775, in the course of fifteen years, before a drop of blood was shed at Lexington."

~ John Adams, Letter to Thomas Jefferson, August 24, 1815

  • Aren't these previews shown here a bit, oh, I don't know, NAIVE? I am young; 18; admittedly would fall into the category of "hippies and punks"; well and I don't know much about politics nor do I have a clue just how our government and "the real world" works. This Occupy "Movement" does show promise. It can succeed in change. This needs a leader. This needs direction and some people to challenge what the majority sees as 'the problem.' Educating others and innovative thinking, people.

  • @TheNecropleasurist It does not need a leader. At all. This is about the masses.

  • First off, sarcasm. Do you speak it?

How's this then? That's a diverse group of moderately disenfranchised people.

Listen, I honestly hope you guys and gals can educate some people and all that - but I don't have a huge amount of hope for this sort of thing. The actual people you're trying to reach are all really too busy trying not to disappear under the weight of actually living to worry about protest.

Create some cohesive points around that and see what happens.

  • @matcat Sarcasm? OK I'll accept that..........not like we have a font to indicate that, so it is hard to notice sometimes.

I happen to be one of those "Actual People" but I have been reached. The sad truth is, way too many are so glued to the TV and fall for all the crap thrown at them through mainstream they have forgotten how to think for themselves, if they even ever learned it in the piss poor education system we have. The mainstream media is owned by the same global elitists that corrupt!

  • You must first understand Asheville! This is not your typical American town.

  • @matcat they didn't decide who would not show up...........it's up to the individual

  • When the rest of the general public sees protesters, The media makes sure it only shows the hippies and punks. That is not what america wants to see, because they cant relate to them, it would make a bigger impact if there were more people wearing khaki pants and button up shirts.

Im not saying try to wear something that you dont normally wear, but dress nicely because the people who see you on television will be judging you by your image.

  • Wow. That's a diverse group of white people.

  • @matcat pointing out skin color; awesome.
