  • welcome :) haha

  • we just had AHA moments!! thanks!!

  • Hi Alisha;

    Your video is very informative and I thank you. I noted that you signed her name ~ I am not a ASL user but have become insterested since rescuing my boy from the pound whom is 100% deaf and doing well with typical signs. How do I teach his name or would you be able to send me a message for "Finn" so he knows. I will be following closely and working daily so he feels comfortable and challenged.

    thank you in advance.

  • @SurfNCowGirl sent you a messaeg :)

  • @SurfNCowGirl sent you a message :)

  • Can you tell me how you taught the dogs their names?

  • Hey Alisha!

    I would just like to thank you, I am getting a deaf English Bulldog in a few weeks and your videos have helped me immensely! You have taught me so much! Thank you again!

  • Very welcome!! I keep meaning to make more but time seems to escape me! However I am glad that the first few videos are helpful! Have fun with your English bulldog! Squishy Faces are the cutest!

  • thank you for videos

    I have a 5 month old boston terrier who was born deaf . how often can i teach her a new command after she gets them

    and how can I get her to let go example toy playing fetch?

  • Sounds like a cutie!! At 5 months old I imagine she can learn a new command pretty fast (daily) so long as you have time to practice them all and really ingrain them in her memory :)

    For "drop" we would have a toy and some treats. (assuming she is treat motivated like ours are). When she is playing with her toy show her your hand with the treat...typically they'll drop the toy for a treat. give her the treat as soon as she drops the toy and say yes and look happy. add the sign after...

  • ...start with your hand in a fist palm down and open it (imitating letting go of an imaginary toy). Its one that takes patience to teach but especially good for tug :) and Every time you want her to drop the toy for fetch make her drop the toy near you before you throw it again...don't give in or it will be a game of tug or human fetch every time :) I promise if you start that 'drop it' for fetch you will be thankful later.
