What could the guards do? Kill the Prince or the King? They were probably all shocked by what just happened, afraid to do anything about it. Who would expect Arthas to do that?

Secondly, his hair a face was covered, so no one could really get a good look at him and how he was tainted. They couldn't react and stop him in time before he walked up and killed Teranas.

i like how Menethill Made Stormrage into a Demon (menethill - arthas, Stormrage - Illidan, if you dont know. During the 3rd War They freed illidan to fight in northrend, Arthas tricked illidan into the temple.. i forgot what it was called before Magtheridan, and before illidan took over it (Temple of Light i think) where draneis ruled the temple. he found the skull arthas told him to get, and he took it in his hands, and he turned into a night elf Demon. and then he was bannished from azeroth :)
