@MikeRoePhonicsMusic Hmmm... I can hear the tech call now: "Yeah, I'm down here at Capitol and the Snakes and Skinks S.A.G.E. AU's are crashing Logic. Can I send the intern over to get a copy of Feral Sow RMX to get me through the session?
EPIC! Awesome instruments! I have never seen a Synthesizer plugged with a guitar! Man, this is unbelievable! God save the good old 80's! What a great time it was!
It's so weird watching this because in the 80's I was in awe of his set up that only a God was allowed to have. I dreamed for hours of being able to sequence and compose other instruments from my guitar. Now I have a home studio with a Roland guitar to Midi converter, Cubase, a JV1080 rack synth and every software and sample based sound imaginable. Times are good!
I believe the price of a standard Synclavier guitar synth setup started at around $100.000 (one hundred THOUSAND dollars!!!). And with that you could sound like a $5 instrument (like a harmonica) - or a donkey. Still, Metheny created magic with it! However he's also been using the Roland synths as well as the Roland VG8 Virtual Guitar System.
24 años después, en lugar de una orquesta sintética, superó los límites imaginables con Orchestrion, un visionario de la música contemporánea. Un perseguidor.
"Just taking animals' sound and see how they sound like as musical instruments. A donkey, which oddly enough has a real blues sound. And a dog, which is more percussive." Haha, I love this!!! Pat Metheny is a genius. Thank you for posting!
What a great vid - another stunner from the vaults. But 'David Booie' - that is very funny, and a teensy bit tragic. The fella is obviously so wrapped up in jazz (dig that knitwear - a dead giveaway) that one of the biggest names in rock or any kind of popular culture escaped him. So he pronounces it like Jim 'Booie', who gave his name to the famous knife.
Gracias verdaderas, otra vez, Profe. ,D
