i spent time in the brig for striking an officer. im an E5 with 3rd Btn 4th Marines Weapons Co. i used to be a E7. i struck the officer cause he decided to make fun of my aunt jackie (who is mentally retarded and suffers from down syndrome) so i knocked the living shit out of the officer, i broke his jaw in 3 places and broke the bridge in his nose. i went to the brig for almost a year and got bumped down to E5.

NJP was about taking money, taking rank, maybe some EMI (extra military instruction). Dig a few dozen textbook fighting positions on a hot day and you'll know what EMI was about in the Marines in the 80's.
They also had this thing called Correctional Custody where you went if you "f"'d up but your company officers thought you were worth trying to salvage. Correctional Custody was basically remedial boot camp for Marines, without the bootcamp SOP.
I remember seeing those CC guys breaking rocks every Thursday when I was at SOI west, Navy and Marines both getting hustled around like recruits by some lance and since they didn't call them "sir" they always be saying "aye lance corporaluhhh" I didn't know whether to feel bad for em' or laugh at the sons of bitches.
