Electoral votes are the number of votes represented by each state. Whoever has the most electoral votes becomes prez. Bigger states represent more votes than smaller states, the population of that state votes. Whoever has the most votes in that state gets the electoral votes for the winning canidate. Cont.

Though Gore came in second in the electoral votes, he received 543,895 more popular votes than Bush, but electoral votes is what decides if you win or not.
