There are two answers to that Question. Edison's DD's were originally issued at 80 rpms and remained that way throughout their production, with the exceptions of real late electrical issues which were at 78rpm. Of course finally Edison stopped production on his 1/4" thick Diamond Disc Records in 1929, when he came out with his regular 78rpm records in 1929. But they only lasted a few months before he finally closed the doors completely on his production of records later on that same year.
