Putting a mic in front of each singer crates this weird vibe to me. It puts the blend in the hands of the engineer and eliminates any sense of dynamics. It gives it wayyyy to smooth of a vibe, which may work for the beegees disco medley, but man... I can just hear the meetings, "Let's make this contemporary, young and hip! Close mics! Compressors!"

Lose the electric piano accompaniment. It serves no other purpose than being a major distraction and muddying an otherwise great musical performance.

This is a pure, a 'capella group that needs nothing instrumental.

@66gardener In most cases I agree with that terminology 100%. However, in a medley, some light instrumentation is needed to keep the rhythm going inbetween songs. I've heard that it is impossible to make the sound of a piano with your mouth. This and Earth, Wind and Fire Medley are the only such videos I watch by PJ. Oh yeah.....Joyful, Joyful has very little piano at the beginning.

@66gardener I agree with MrMusic the piano is mostly there to keep the melody constant and to transition between songs of the medley. Otherwise I do agree with you it is kinda annoying and i Play piano o.o

I am speaking from my years of experience singing in several a'capella choruses.

I can tell you this goup is fully capable of doing this particular song arrangement quite well with musical accompaniment. The results would be a better sounding performance.

Nonetheless, great performance by this young group.
