The 38 spl looks bigger than the 9mm but in reality is less powerful than the 9mm Luger (9X19mm). The 38 spl was originally a black powder cartridge (hence the larger case/shell). You can shoot 38 Special in a 357 Mag revolver but NOT the other way around.
comparing .38spl and 9mm Luger for size and implying great difference in ballistics is idiotic; revolver rounds have to be longer, with more powder in the case, due to loss of pressure around the forcing cone
I've got one of these, a 3 incher. I reload with my own cast bullets, KSWC (Keith semi wadcutters), cast very hard, weighting 146 grains. This gun is built on the same frame, and uses the same barrel of the Taurus .357, so you can load as hot as you want. Start with the loads of a good manual, then begin increasing by 1/2 grain at the time, and REMEMBER TO STOP INCREASING the load B4 IT BLOWS UP. Regards
38 special is a 9mm round bullet, the europeans call it a 9mm magnum. The .357 is not a 357 38 you can shoot 38 through a 38 special. It is not double action single action. It is just a double action revolver. If it has a hammer it is double action.
@isamtator not quite sure what u were trying to say.... but a .357 mag round is just a .38 round except it has a longer cartridge. which is why .357 mags can shoot .357 and .38 specials, and a .38 spec cannot shoot a .357
Im buying the same gun in a couple of weeks. For only 100$. Im gunna have fun with this sumbitch. Just one qustion. Dose it have a good lil kick to it? Im just wanting to be ready before i shoot it haha. I dont want it to jump up and smack me in the face or anything.
@morphine30roxy depends on what you are comparing it to. Its like a toy to my 44 mag. its got a little kick. But not enough to smack you in the face haha
$350 from the pawn, hmm... I would have talked it down to $300. It is a Taurus. I have seen S&Ws in good or fine condition sell at $350. But good buy otherwise. I personally consider pawn shop folks scum, I have no issue being overly agressive and walking out if they don't meet my price.

hi, would like to know which model is this gun?
okp0 2 weeks ago
Does this kid know anything about guns? The .38 is a smaller case .357, the gun has a longer cylinder which allows it to take a .357.

Taurus can be a great gun...sometimes...they suffer irregular quality control. When you get a good one you can trust your life on it.
Aussie038 1 year ago
I've been wantin one just like that, there's one at a gunshop near me. They say it's just like the smith model 10 but I prefer the taurus.
