The haunting and curse of the family and descendents of John Bell is real. Our family lives in torment and fear as many have been attacked by her. The movie was not accurate in it's depiction.

I can feel someone watching me at times and things have been moved and put back. I agree the movie does not tell a the story at all. I have done alot of research on our family. That Bell Witch Historical SIGNS are in our TOWN of Brownsville like..... thousands of miles away!!!! CRAZY! This somehow reaffirms that I'm closer to the Bell Family than I thought... The apartment complex was not a dive. It was actually pretty well run. But their was just something about it. I would say the weirdiest thing about it was that it was not consistant. It seemed to happen, then everything was fine for awhile, then it would happen again. I lived there for three years total. At that time my life was a little unstable. Definitely sounds like a severe and classic Poltergeist haunting. As the movie depicts, could Betsy have been molested? That is something to highly consider as to why this Poltergeist was so strong and asserting.

If you're over the age of about 24 and there are no young people living in your home then I doubt it's a poltergeist. You're likely dealing with a human spirit who's unhappy about something or in the worst case perhaps a demonic or "low level" entity.
Try raising the mood in your home, sing, feel love, laugh and say out loud that anything that's not loving and positive isn't welcome in your home.
that is precisely what happened in my case, for a few years my house was filled with negative emotions, fear, anger, and rage, but I changed the mood of my household, and all activity ceased, and now I dont seem to be frighted anymore...or have that knot in my stomach

very interesting... i have had similar experiances myself. not anything like slapping, but footsteps on the roof when i moved in, then they stopped for a couple of months, and within the past few weeks thumping and scratching noises. i never even thought of a poltergeist.

I mean the spirit was probably trying to hiss like a cat or some animal, rather than a constant hissing noise like a vacuum cleaner. If that's the case then perhaps Jane Johnson just happened to say, "be quiet" when this animal-hiss was finnished. So perhaps it only looked like the spirit was obeying Johnson, when really Johnson just spoke at the right time. It's kinda hard to put in words, but you probably get the idea.
When Jane Johnsnon entered the house, you said there was a hissing noise and that the spirit obeyed Johnson when he ordered it to be quiet. It occured to me that perhaps the spirit decided to hiss only as long as it takes to slowly take a deep breath.
I'm from Tennessee, and my science teacher married a descendant of the Bell witch. He says on their honyemoon they went to visit some relatives, and all through the night, bed covers were constantly being pulled off the bed and water puddles were found in the middle of the floor the next morning. laydee, it's known as sleep paralysis... look it up on wikipedia. I too have experienced this and it can be really scary, but it is supposedly a normal phenomena.

Definitely sounds like a severe and classic Poltergeist haunting. As the movie depicts, could Betsy have been molested? That is something to highly consider as to why this Poltergeist was so strong and asserting.

I believe he molested the daughter and the wife had nothing to do with his death. The diary was discovered years after the entity went away. The most interesting thing was that the entity's actions were not always those of a demon. The entity actually had moments of truth and guidence

So the poltergeist that are haunting me is because of my sexual energy? I dont like them, they wake me up with this scared feeling even if I am having a good dream. My husband does not notice them, but he does believe they exist. He has seen a black shadow that he says looks like me, and then it made him paralyzed but I dont know lol.

If you're over the age of about 24 and there are no young people living in your home then I doubt it's a poltergeist. You're likely dealing with a human spirit who's unhappy about something or in the worst case perhaps a demonic or "low level" entity.
Try raising the mood in your home, sing, feel love, laugh and say out loud that anything that's not loving and positive isn't welcome in your home.

that is precisely what happened in my case, for a few years my house was filled with negative emotions, fear, anger, and rage, but I changed the mood of my household, and all activity ceased, and now I dont seem to be frighted anymore...or have that knot in my stomach

@BlackCatMambo I've heard that, if you have a spirit attatch itself to you when you are young; it may stay with you long into later adulthood. Is that not true of a poltergeist? I've also heard that 35 years old is a common cut-off for hauntings.

@BlackCatMambo in my opinion. i believe there are Residual hauntings which is just energy being replayed and theres nothing really scary about that. and intelliginent hauntings but if it is intelligent i believe it is a demon, not a ghost. i believe people die and either go to heaven or hell. If its intelligent its a demon, even if it appears benevolent and say 'takes on the form of a residual memory' like a little girl or something that used to live in the house, just to fool you. imo =]

@MrAndMrsKirby I've seen them too. I believe the black spirits that paralyze people and frighten them are demons. Try telling it to leave in the name of god or your personal religion. Use your will to force it out. It may not leave forever, but you CAN begin to claim your space again.

very interesting... i have had similar experiances myself. not anything like slapping, but footsteps on the roof when i moved in, then they stopped for a couple of months, and within the past few weeks thumping and scratching noises. i never even thought of a poltergeist.

I mean the spirit was probably trying to hiss like a cat or some animal, rather than a constant hissing noise like a vacuum cleaner. If that's the case then perhaps Jane Johnson just happened to say, "be quiet" when this animal-hiss was finnished. So perhaps it only looked like the spirit was obeying Johnson, when really Johnson just spoke at the right time. It's kinda hard to put in words, but you probably get the idea.

When Jane Johnsnon entered the house, you said there was a hissing noise and that the spirit obeyed Johnson when he ordered it to be quiet. It occured to me that perhaps the spirit decided to hiss only as long as it takes to slowly take a deep breath.

I'm from Tennessee, and my science teacher married a descendant of the Bell witch. He says on their honyemoon they went to visit some relatives, and all through the night, bed covers were constantly being pulled off the bed and water puddles were found in the middle of the floor the next morning. He never had anymore experiences after they left the relatives.

How interesting is the throwing stones story, to think such an amazing thing could happen is out of this world. Poltergeist sound very scary, the unknown is scary enough but something that is unknown and obviously trying to scare you and cause fear or hurt you must be terrifying!
