Hey you have the WoW icon do u play? lol sorry totaly unrelated. I have a question tho, i see everywhere how compressor is used to lower the gain, but never how to increase the gain, as to bring lead acoustic to stand out without peaking it nor lower the volume on the other tracks, how would that work on a compressor?
I'm new to recording, and when i record i hear static. I don't know if it's the mic, my computer, sound card, ect.... It'd be a lot of help if you can help me out with this, Before i start spending hundreds of dollars. Thanks
@NinjaPeekaBooo It's everything honestly. The cheaper your equipment is, the more noise you're going to get. The first thing to change is probably your sound card however. If you're using the one on your computer you're going to get a lot of noise, try to get a USB interface then go from there.
just wanna ask can i ask lots of question in the comments regarding recording technique using the microphones? i really appreciate if i can have tons of Q&A in this comment box
hi! i have a question. i am recording the acoustic guitar with sm57 . there are lots of background noise. even when i record it in low gain and i tried to hear it at loud volume there are background noise. how do u get the sound in this recording. there are no noise in this video. i really hope u can help. it has been bugging me for years and i cant get the answer too. and i belive u are recording it with condenser mic which is more prone to background noise.
i have some noise issues too. those noises are usually lower frequency and can often times be EQed out. Try cutting out everything below 120hz with a high pass filter. then try to isolate the problem noise frequency by slotting, if you don't know how to do all that check out my EQ video I go over all of that. background noise is always an issue, unless you have a professionally treated room get used to dealing with it. good luck, take care.
thank you very much for your fast reply ! i really appreciate it. u have a good tutorial. i will try to figure it out from ur other tutorial. once again DOUBLE THUMBS FOR THE VIDEO and FAST ENQUIRY RESPONSE! hope to see more tutorial video in the future!
Absolutely. The software that I am using is not available on PCs, but any other software will do this just fine. Sonar, Cubase, Audition, just to name a few, are all available on PCs.
pretty much any recording software will do the trick. macs come preloaded with garageband, which is a great place to start. if you have a pc sonar, cubase, or any other one will work. as far as a mic i would go with a large diaphragm condenser.
