Even if you culture says it is okay, treating women as slaves and subservient to men is appalling. Killing them because of that same society?... I wish you could feel your own wrath. Want to know the sad irony of all of this? Whether the child recieves an X or a Y chromosome is up to the male's sperm. Women are pressured to bear a son, and often even punished if they do not, when in reality it was the fault of the male.
Although there were other "reasons", Henry VIII is known for beheading or divorcing his wives due to his insecurities of not providing an heir to the throne. His first wife couldn't bare a son, so he divorced and humiliated her. But surely there are practical reasons that the characters in this clip cannot escape unless the whole indian society changes. sdawson, you and i probably are educated, dont live off the land and have options these characters dont have. All these people are victims of society, including the fathers. Unless we see the suffering of these little girls in light of greater sociatal issues, we must not critise or demonize them as is the obsesion here
