If someone drops in on me, its no big deal (unless they see me behind them, and than still continue to surf the wave). I am haole target numero uno though. There is surf code in every beach . You respect peoples waves and you respect the beach . Dont come onto the beach thinkng you can throw shit all over it or fuck with locals . By the way, the journalists took events out of context to make their stories look better. For example, that scene where the "blonde" surfer was getting beat in the water has a larger back story to it. I think the beating was justified given a CONTEST was being run that day.

i pull up at that dead end alley on the beach in mexico, all the locals are sitting around smoking weed, or out surfing, i make sure i have ALOT of beer with me, and some kind friendly words for them. and i dont drop in on anyone.

If only waves were the same size as mountains, no probs. It's all well and good with the way things are at pipeline. It's one of the best breaks in the world, so of course people will flock there and you can only fit one bloke per wave.. My problem is when people apply that wolfpak mentality to places like Malibu or even PB pier. Loads of meatheads getting all local over 3-4ft waves. I'm not intimidated by those kooks one bit. 4ft wedges ain't worth getting in a fight or even an argument for.
I have often wondered about these surf schools in California. I hope they teach respect to them and to know your limits and not to bring all your friends to make surfing even more crowded than it ever is at the well establish breaks. you gotta pay your dues.. I have lived on O'ahu for over 4 years now. I never gotten into a fight in or out of the water here. I'm pretty mellow and keep to myself. If someone drops in on me, its no big deal (unless they see me behind them, and than still continue to surf the wave). I am haole target numero uno though. White, blonde hair, only 5'9, small build, so unfortunately people love to say shit to me in the water. I honestly find some of the white people out in the water to be bigger dicks (the transplants)

Well, ok, let's see: I was surfing at log cabins w/ my friend, we're both haole, and we were the only two out, early morning. Some locals paddled out. I was all smiles, stoked, kinda nervous about being out in those waves, it was only my 3rd time out up there. I was in a respectful posture, which I always maintained, kept wax in my pocket to throw over if asked. So one of the locals felt like being an ass, and volunteered this: "fuck'n haoles" Give respect, get respect? Not that day.

It ther right to police the lineup. Ther is nothing worse than a "Instant Local". I wish when I was growing and surfing in HB there was a wolfpak to keep the kooks and loser undercontrol and out of the way of the true surfers. A little respect for the locals and their beach would a long way.
I have meet and talked to to Kala and he is a very personable and a very nice guy. If the Da Hui or true locals need to hand out a beating than it is most likely deserved.

If only waves were the same size as mountains, no probs. It's all well and good with the way things are at pipeline. It's one of the best breaks in the world, so of course people will flock there and you can only fit one bloke per wave.. My problem is when people apply that wolfpak mentality to places like Malibu or even PB pier. Loads of meatheads getting all local over 3-4ft waves. I'm not intimidated by those kooks one bit. 4ft wedges ain't worth getting in a fight or even an argument for.

I hope they teach respect to them and to know your limits and not to bring all your friends to make surfing even more crowded than it ever is at the well establish breaks. you gotta pay your dues..
