1:54 "Once in a lifetime you that". Dear zonekaran, please come to London Heathrow and film for a few hours and you can see that probably 2 or 3 times.
it WAS the shortest runway in the world where the Boeing 747 lands. Now it is not anymore and other there are other runways which are even shorter but where boeings and airbusses do land but smaller versions like the 737/757/767 or a320 family/a330.
secondly ur title is incorrect. It is a KLM on the runway and it might be a corsair in the air.
@MrBowie08 watch the vid and pls open your eyes. the 747 turning to the beginning off the runway : Crossair ( in Red ) and in the air in its final approach is KLM's 747-400 , daily scheduled flight from Amsterdam.
@hyrrokinfamily Well look who's talking you fucking retarded cunt, guess what im fucking your mam now. Uh uh uh, OOOOOO yeah thats good oh yeah yeah yeah fuck yeah!!! Can you plz tell her to see if i left my underpants there last night coz i can't find them retard!
Well, I see in the comments below people who claim this `happens all the time´. In the clip the pilot of the landing KLM airplane could see the CORSAIR, but what if the visibility was poor due to mist? Would the KLM Boeing have hit the CORSAIR? I can't imagine risks this big are taken..
looks like just a simple timing conflict to me, happens all the time in the industry... the KLM was probably expecting to land behind the taking off corsair, but things didn't go so quickly, so he had to go around: a costly inconvenience, but nothing out of the ordinary.. of course controllers are encouraged to minimize these avoidable go-arounds as they are costly for the airline.
It would have been close but the KLM had time to land.. it looks like the Corsair would have been in the air by the time the KLM landed.. just a little too close for comfort though
I just cannot stop laughing about the video poster whenever I see this. "Oh Shit!". As if the KLM flight crew were going to deliberately crash their plane into the Corsair. It's a clear day with excellent visibility - of course the KLM flight crew will see the Corsair and go around.
@UnitedSlidersCC errrr.. no. The passengers on the Corsair would not even have been aware of what is going on. For them it would have been a normal takeoff. The passengers on the KLM would have experienced a go around, but would not have known why, because the passengers cannot see what is going on in front of the plane
@UnitedSlidersCC No they wouldn't. Note how far the KLM is away. The video zooms in on it, but the KLM is actually quite far away. The passengers on the right hand side of the Corsair, even if they bothered to look intently at the flight path, would have barely noticed the KLM.
@ryanhaart i remember 2 years ago i was on a flight leaving faro for shannon in ireland. as our 737 neared the runway enterance i noticed there was an incoming british airways A320 that was some distace away but we still stopped at the entrance and waited 10 minutes for it to land. so why did atc clear the corsair 747 to leave the gate if they knew that doing so would cause a klm 747 to perform a go around?
@oliverjumelle How am I supposed to know? Maybe they were drunk, distracted, or had forgotten about the KLM? More seriously, probably poor communications within the Tower. Often two different controllers handle takeoffs and landings, and if they do not follow the communication protocols strictly, misunderstandings can occur.
"this is St. Maarten in Caribbean, it has the smallest runway in the world where a boeing lands" LOL. "Oh shit", "oh no"! "oh my god!". "once in a lifetime" LOL LOL
It's a go around due to traffic on the runway. Happens all the time.
@ryanhaart Em I hate to disagree but I work in the tower at YYZ and this does not happen all the time. Plus if it does it is a hell of a lot of paperwork that needs to be done.
@atworkguy It happens all the time around the world. I would wager a bet that a go-around due to traffic on the runway happens at least once a day at every major airport. So you are right, it does not happen all the time from your perspective in Tower XYZ, but generally it happens all the time. I am a frequent flyer and I have been in many go-arounds as a passenger.
@ryanhaart There are many reasons other than traffic we ask a pilot to take a tour. That plane was well in its landing sequence making that event a rare one.
@atworkguy Hello, check video Video m2IKw_tSa6A on YouTube, yet another video of a go around at St. Maarten, this time due to insufficient approach spacing. As I said in my original post, go arounds due to traffic on the runway happen ALL THE TIME, 3 videos on YouTube alone for this airport.
@atworkguy here you go: watch YouTube video 489dItT3DLQ Another go around due to traffic on the runway at St. Maartens. It DOES seem to happen quite a bit there.
The Corsair plane was already cleared for takeoff its white anti-collision and outbd/inbd landing lights were on when it was on the turning bay. It couldn't just wait for the KLM to land because there wouldn't be sufficent wing clearance. Still, amazing to see both beasts in action at SXM! Coming from someone who likes to pretend he's actually a pilot.
Dude...u sound like Appu from the Simpson's..I haven't come across such a stereotypical Indian accent ever..not that there is anything wrong with it but ..its like I am listening to Russel Peters
similar situation happened when we were landing at sfo. nothing scarier than suddenly getting yanked back up in the sky just a few feet over the water.
I'm also thinking that the CorsAir did see the conflict coming up,because they started to throttle up even before the entered rwy 09. It is not a "as close as it looks" but still a non comfy situation....
This is what is called "a conflict" situation. If this happened during an IFR flight or instrumental approch, this could have been gone seriously wrong by 1 possible impact, 2 tubulences distabelising the KLM and 3 max thrust of the CorsAir plane could rip fuselage parts off the KLM. I don't know if the CorsAir was on taxi or if he was doin' a backtrack, but this can't be a "I feel sooo happy" situation...
@charimakis true, but corsair was about to take off. If it was foggy, the two planes wouldn't have seen each other, and they will crash into each other. apart from the fact that one was taking off and the other landing.
Oh Shit ... oh no ... this is not coming ... It was too risky eh .... shit man ... once in a lifetime you see that man ... i have it on videoooo ... haha ... a typical Russell Peters bit. I bet the air traffic controllers sit in beach shacks with hawaiian shirts on with malibu and a couple of walkie talkies. Jesus Christ! Talk about bad timing.
Not the best scenario but very low risk of collision or crash. The KLM jumbo is still quite a way off well within that required to avoid a collision. Honestly, had he stayed the course the Corsair jumbo would have been banking out well before the inbound jumbo would have touched the pavement. If this amazes you don't visit airports like Las Vegas and New York JFK where this happens multiple times daily.
@UnshavenStatue it is not that easy to see an inbound aircraft, they make only low noise on final approch,me too I fly and when I'm on downwind and ready for base leg turn, sometimes ATC calls in to make me contunue downwind or make a turn "because of traffic on final",when I'm in downwind=opposite direction (face to face) with the inbound plane but believe me,even if it is a 737,with landing lights on,it's not that easy to spot from the first second...even a 747 looks small in a shiny heaven!
ATC might not have given TakeOff clearance..First it tells you to taxi and hold short on the runway until Takeoff clearance.. Might have been a misunderstanding..We don' t know.. Whether ATC screwed up or the pilot made a mistake.. If ATC, then it s really bad..They should have told him Hold short on Taxiway coz of incoming plane..
LOL these people think that the ATC is dumb and doesnt see a big 747 about to land on an occupied runway. even if the ATC didnt tell him to go around im pretty sure the pilot would see a big 747 on the runway
What you all takling about, it beeing the ATCs fault? have you heard the tapes? for all we know maybe the pilot heard wrong or forgot to hold short of runway. Dont judge any of them if yall hanvt heard the tapes. good job of them all to notice the problem and initiated the go around pretty early.
easily the air traffic controller's fault. it's not the hardest job out there but it does carry a great deal of responsibility. this is actually the best case scenario for when an ATC fucks up. worst case scenario is an enormous fireball made out of two passenger planes.
I'm waiting for the inevitable accident either with an approaching aircraft or jet blast injury. A very dangerous location but fabulous for thrill seekers.
"OH shit!" " My god" i dont know what is wrong with those people. i dont see what 's the drama about... that happen all the time.... i gues people LOOOOVE DRAMA!
@50CENT123434 Let's be honest, even a retard could have made that call. If if it weren't aborted, I don't think anything would have happened, it would just be too close for comfort.

LOL these people think that the ATC is dumb and doesnt see a big 747 about to land on an occupied runway. even if the ATC didnt tell him to go around im pretty sure the pilot would see a big 747 on the runway
tomcatpilot13 1 year ago
I wish I could hear ATC instead of the idiot behind the camera.

IIcyrusrocksII 1 year ago
How the fuck can this happen?I thought pilots, even if they are cleared for take off, should look at their sides before
Luca9283 1 year ago
This is clearly not the pilots fault.

A failed repeat of the Tenerife disaster...
ToonTownMadness 1 year ago
Not really when you know what happend at Tenerife. In this case it is a normal aborted landing. Nothing serious.
ALT326 1 year ago
@ToonTownMadness I was thinking of Tenerife as well.
pf126p 1 year ago
easily the air traffic controller's fault. it's not the hardest job out there but it does carry a great deal of responsibility. this is actually the best case scenario for when an ATC fucks up. worst case scenario is an enormous fireball made out of two passenger planes.
geekdiggy 1 year ago 2
How you know its the ATCOs fault, you didnt hear the radio, maybe the pilot forgot to hold short....

I'm waiting for the inevitable accident either with an approaching aircraft or jet blast injury. A very dangerous location but fabulous for thrill seekers.

ATC not paying attention. Also, I would think that the corsairfly pilot would see the KLM on final approach and hold.

Great Piloting by the KLM pilots ( Dumb Tncm tower
50CENT123434 1 year ago
@50CENT123434 Let's be honest, even a retard could have made that call. If if it weren't aborted, I don't think anything would have happened, it would just be too close for comfort.
qwerty112311 1 year ago
But still The tower shuldnt have done it
50CENT123434 1 year ago
Tower screwed up, they should not have cleared Corsair while KLM was in approach mode. Another Teneriffa disaster avoided by KLM pilot action.
