I have a 99 Grand Prix GTP and I took my car to Tuffy and the estimated 1200 to change my rack and pinion...So I paid 12 dollars for a 12oz bottle of this stuff and I am amazed to say, it fixed the "groan" when turning, it made turning extremely smooth, and my car no longer smokes from power steering fluid leaking on to my exhaust when I drive it...this is a definite buy!
the reason some of you might find lucas not working is cause you tried to use it for whole in a line or failed bearings. but if its just an old seal that is leaking lucas is great because the product actually makes the old rubber swell a bit causing it to reseal itself.
@musical7777 We are sorry to hear that our product couldn't stop your leak. Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak is most effective in stopping seal leaks. Problems outside of seal leaks can require additional attention. However, Lucas Oil Guarantees this product 100% up to two bottles. Please call 1-800-342-2512 and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you.
I have used Lucas Oil products in German cars, American cars, Japenese cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and lawn machines. It has never let me down and it is a excellent American product. Thank you so much. Never stop.
Used to own an Opel Ascona when I lived in Germany. It had manual steering but never had to worry about leaks. I do admit it was hard to park. Don't let an elder try to park w/o it. You need muscle power but for everything else I didn't have a problem.
I was told by 2 mechanics that my power steering whine on my Volvo XC70 was due to a leaking steering rack and it would need replacing (cost $2500). I discovered Lucas Stop leak on the internet and bought some. Before I did this I checked with the mechanics who said "I wouldn't put that in, it won't work anyway". Undeterred, I drained (sucked out) a small amount of the existing fluid and put Lucas stop leak in anyway. It worked!but only after I drove about 30 miles. Since then... perfect.
Will this work on a steering rack leak?

Going to try this before pulling the system apart. Going through a bottle of Merc V every day for my pump.
