there're too many ignorant and stubborn people out there. There are too many refusing to accept or even listen. People don't wake up until they've lost something. It is a myth that atheists all suddenly convert under battle conditions. Google "Atheists in Foxholes" for more information. Also, if SOME people tend to turn to religion during times of stress, what does that prove? That religion is true or that it is a comforting drug? To me it suggests that God is just an imaginary parent we have invented to comfort us when we are scared. Others turn to fortune tellers, Tarot cards, astrology or even start drinking or drugging when they face trouble.

Unless we're talking that a god-like figure is something out of a fairytale and can just exist without us having any evidence. People believe in a god because they cannot think for themselves, so they must have a reason for their existence, and they are so ignorant to any other possibilities, that they come to the conclusion that it MUST have been a "god".

there're too many ignorant and stubborn people out there. There are too many refusing to accept or even listen. People don't wake up until they've lost something. It's no doubt most people only turn to religion when they face trouble. What about you yourself, the one who actually typed the comment. There are times people need support and comfort. So what if they turn to God in times of trouble. You have a problem with that. The world still has people who are grateful, people who actually care.

It is a myth that atheists all suddenly convert under battle conditions. Google "Atheists in Foxholes" for more information. Also, if SOME people tend to turn to religion during times of stress, what does that prove? That religion is true or that it is a comforting drug? To me it suggests that God is just an imaginary parent we have invented to comfort us when we are scared. Others turn to fortune tellers, Tarot cards, astrology or even start drinking or drugging when they face trouble.

I never said I was in combat. I just wonder how you collected reliable data on the religious beliefs of thousands of persons in a combat zone to allow you to say with conviction that there are no atheists in the foxholes. BTW, a belief system does not become true or false because it keeps you alive. Right now there are millions of Muslim fighters who are kept going by their faith in Allah, the Koran and Mohammed. But if their religion is true, then Jesus was not the son of God. Explain that.

But just for the record, whether I have ever served in the military has nothing to do with how exactly you collected reliable data on the evolving religious beliefs of thousands of people in a combat situation. As to people of "faith" never changing, where do you think the tens of millions of atheists in Europe and America (myself included) came from over the past few decades? Look up the stats.

What amazes me is that you would have had time to go around to each foxhole under battle conditions to interview each soldier on their religious convictions and to note how many atheists had "converted" to belef in God. If I were you I would Google "Atheists in foxholes" and read about the monument to the atheists who served their country and died for it. I think their viewpoint deserves more respect from you.

No one can challenge God. If humans originated from monkeys, why are we still having monkeys, then where did the first monkey come from? If the universe formed from gases and dusts, where did the first hydrogen atom come from? You wouldn't know the greatness of the Lord unless you believe. You wouldn't know that he loves you unless you believe. You're not God, how can you doubt his existence? How can you presume all these? How can you prove christianity wrong?

Nobody said humans originated from monkeys. Read a bit about evolution before you spout nonsense. Your reasoning is absurd. "You're not God, how can you doubt his existence?" That does not even make logical sense. I could ask you: "You're not a unicorn, so how can you doubt their existence?" "You're not the God Zeus, so how can you doubt his existence?" Finally, the principle is that he who asserts an idea must prove it. It is up to you to prove Christianity true.

Now, I'm not trying to convert you to atheism or agnosticism; you can still follow a set faith without being held back by a rigid system. You can be Christian without going to church. I think that shelters people, honestly. Find the truth for yourself. I personally am an agnostic theist, meaning I believe there is some sort of higher power, but I'm not about to assume I know what exactly it is. I hope to find out, and to do that I am studying everything I can get my hands on, (cont.)
