I've always seen this as being about a man confronting his inner demons. Like, I always saw it in my mind as a soldier who lost a man under his command. As he walks around, the man's ghost stands over his shoulder, screaming at him.

There is an excerpt from the movie Jacobs ladder which goes "If you're frightened of dying and you're hold on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels... freeing you from the earth" It seems that when he kept getting hit and then getting up it was like saying he was holding on to life. And the sheding of his coat was his way of making "peace". Just a thought.

Wow, this video is great! I was listening to Unkle (bloodstain) as I was riding on the trolley and as I looked toward the back, I saw an obviously mentally unstable crossing the street,while the light was green..and the cars that were approaching him had to stop as he blindly maneuvered his way through the cars.
