Saw this one was teetering at "99" and felt compelled to come be number "100". Numbers have that kind of subtle power over us. I still don't trust them, but I do like hearing you read and I like mulling it over. ;) NAncy
If it takes more than ten figures and ten toes to figure, it's all new math to me, but I sure to love the way you read a poem, be it new math or old. All the best. ~ Mark
Wow what a poem! Those are some interesting ideas and philosophies,so beautifully read by you Michael. You have a flair for reading poetry, bringing out what the author has in mind making it easy for us to understand it better. A voice like that is rare I'll tell ya. :)) Fabulous poetry and well written, very deep, gets us thinking. I dig it my buddy! :)))
Thinking hard about how to love numbers... They want to confine, contain, limit and define those things that I would not want to... Stars in the sky....days in a life....possibilities....I think they are artificial limits that we have created. Just symbols to help us grasp the material world. Why do YOu love them, B?
I am enameredd by the # infinity, which of course is not a number at all. I look up at the night stars and begin to contemplate the concept of an end to the universe. It is impossible to come up with anything definitive. Curved space?, maybe but I cannot wrap my mind around that. The astronomers count and quantify and some of them dream. I enjoy immensely the intense explosion in my mind and spirit when I contemplate the infinite. "Numbers add up to nothing". Boggle is a funnny and fun word.
@curiousgeorge555 I like what You say about the "intense explosion"...for me, it's like I'm stopped in time for a few moments and really contemplate eternity; all the foolishness stops and I see the WayItIs. Boggle, yes, a wonderful word...deep down, it's when I'm boggled that I feel most "at Rest". i like Your Neil quote:)
Michael, you're one of the most creative, original folks I know. I have not heard this poem before. it's beautiful, and your reading of it is beautiful. Thank you, dear friend, for all the beauty you add to the world. Suze
@suuzzee5 I Really appreciate You Suze. Aren't poems the best? I go through streaks of reading poems and prose, etc, but feel most at home in a well-penned verse...thanks for Your kindness:)
I always enjoy listening to you read and you do choose the most interesting selections, Michael! I must confess that I have always had an aversion to numbers, and would sincerely hope that they might be excluded from heaven. I would rather expect that everything there will be quantfied by "enough." NAncy
@nllleonard I love numbers and i love letters too...it's when one starts putting them together to come up with some sum...that's when I start to teeter:) My guess is that perhaps the paradox of enough and working (or playing ) towards something wonderful will continue to astound and delight us as we continue to co - create, I could be very wrong......but no more tears, I like that thought:)
Hi Michael, i need nearly four weeks, but now its ready, i made a cover of this poem
