Make fun of us van owners that have fun drag racing all you want. But a stock 5.0L mustang only runs 15.1 1/4 mile and 9.4 1/8 mile. My 75 dodge camper van has a 360ci. small block with a mild build up and weighs 6000lbs. ran only 17flat 1/4 and 10.5 1/8 mile. with a 125 shot of nitrous it went 14.7 1/4 and 8.95 1/8 that smokes stock mustangs

Just so you guys know thats nowhere near a stock van.

They run mid 18's stock with the 5.9 which they came with.

Hell my Shortbed 4x4 pickup with the 5.9 is still a turd, ran a 16.9.

It obviously has cam,head, stall, gearing work done to it to run mid 15's. to each his own

@2strokedetroit In the 1500 Series vans yes they had the 3.9 and 5.2.....but the 15 passenger van automaticly means it's a 3500 series which means it has the 5.9l motor which was the only motor offered in the 3500

Yeah, I know sounds right to me what you say. Forget the fact that the black smoke is carbon that will fall back to the ground and go back into the earth where it came from. Those environmentalist/EPA people are soo stupid it's ridiculous. They dont give a damn about the enviornment, they just know that diesel vehicles will always be better than gasolines; faster, better MPG and lasts longer. That is why they do everything in their power to make people not want diesel vehicles.

that van is obviously not stock. no 14 pass. van is gunna run low 15's. and the duramax is most likely stock, doesnt even sound like its got an exhaust on it.

Diesel's aren't racers - they have to shift constantly in a narrow HP band range to get up to speed unlike a gas that has HP spread out through acceleration. Diesels are known more for power and pulling then racing. Still cool to watch though!

Considering a gear change takes about 0.15 seconds (ferrari's latest), all you need is a lot of gears and a good computer to sort the gearing.

Audi won LeMans with a diesel engine in 2006 - with 3.6 seconds added lead PER LAP over the second best entry. The Q7 is offered with a road-version of the same engine, 500hp and 1000nm - it gives the petrolpowered R/RS series quite a run for their money.

It has a relatively broad torque range too, 6 gears is all you need to reach 156 mph/250km/h.

LOL!!!! Too funny! I have a chevy Hightop conversion van. ARGH!!! I had a cop talk to me saying I was recklessly driving in a parking lot, but I bet you if I was driving a regular car, he probably wouldn't have cared. Oh that's a BIG van, cant do over 5mph in it, LOL! Anyways, I have a 93' Chevy 350V8 hightop conversion van and by the book it has 210HP with 300ft Ib of torque! So sometimes I do accidentally burn rubber in it while taking turns, LOL! BUT BY NO MEANS IS THAT RECKLESS DRIVING!!!!!!

That cop said he would take my van away If I drove like that again even though I didn't drive recklessly, I even made a complete stop at the stop sign a hard one but complete. DO you know what the funny thing is? It was 7AM in the morning and there was no one driving in the whole entire parking lot. The worse thing is that later on in the daytime hours there are a million people that really do reckless driving and almost run over people and there is NEVER A COP AROUND where I work at.
