"If I have experience welding other duplexes do I need to requalify to weld ZERON 100 products and what AWS Classifications cover ZERON 100X weld products."
No. ZERON 100 (S32760) is assigned to the same P group in the ASME Section IX as 2205 and other duplex stainless steels.
This is P group 10H Group 1. ZERON 100X filler is made to AWS Classifications. ER2594 (AWS A5.9) covers GMAW and GTAW bare wires. Bare wire fillers are assigned to F number 6 in ASME Section IX. Covered electrodes are to E2595-15 (AWS A5.4). The F number for all A5.4 electrodes is 5 according to ASME Section IX.Even the manufacture says your "mysterious zeron100 alloy" welds the same as 2205 series duplex alloys. You better tell ASME, AWS and RA that they are ALL wrong and offer your expertise
you guys must have the worst welding procedures any where in the world. We spent months here in Australia fixing all of your "expert" welders, welds.
walking the dog has been proven to cause lack of fusion and i dont give a shit what you say it's a fact. if this is a video of your best i would hate to see your worst...
@adamrach3 Please send me the information proving that the torch manipulation technique known as cup walking causes lack of fusion. I want this information to be of a non bias view, done with laboratory tests to back up this retarded claim of yours. I know of thousands, if not tens of thousands of pressure vessel and pressure pipe welds that have been welded with this method, both in and out of position that have easily passed PT, MP, UT, RT and most important, DESTRUCTIVE BEND TESTING.
@weldinggod1 retarded claim?? just goes to show that you have no understanding of superduplex or Zeron100, You say you know "tens of thousands" of pipe welder who walk the cup?? well add another to your list.If you have the slightest incling of welding these metals you wouldnt ask such a stupid request and as far as your testing PT, MP, UT RT and the one that get me.... the DESTRUCTIVE BEND TEST... are you for real? do you know anything about welding?? i bet you have never welded Zeron 100...
@adamrach3 Hehehe, somebody has small dick syndrome eh. SEND ME THE LABORATORY TESTING FROM A ACCREDITED METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING SHOP. ARE YOU STUPID? READ THAT, PROVE YOUR RETARDED CLAIM WITH REAL EVIDENCE, NOT SOME RED NECK HICK WELDER CLAIMING TO KNOW. I do not need to prove my skill set to you, my employer feels my 200k a year is fair for my skill set. And yes, I weld many reactive and refractive alloys such as zirc, ti, monel, inconel, many duplex alloys and many HSLA steels such as CrMo
On further evaluation of this video, and your other comment down below, I see that someone already answered a question of your to well beyond your ability when it comes to welding procedures, and you did nothing to respond, as you are out of your league. If I had to guess, I am betting your a pimply faced apprentice that thinks he knows it all, and I bet a non Union scab as well. Anyways, get off your high horse about your zeron 100, its JUST ANOTHER ALLOY
@adamrach3 Ferritic martensitic duplex, and most precipitation hardening stainless steels are usually classified as magnetic since they exhibit a strong response (or pull) to a hand-held magnet, so yes, MP will work, and the alloy with minimum elongation of 25%, DT will show lack of fusion on the side wall with a tear.As well RT gamma rays still penetrate duplex alloys, so a clear RT shot WILL show SW-LOF. In fact, phased array UT will give a nice clear answer as well. NDT/DT work well
anniebinz140365 is right. Unless this duplex pipe is going to be solution heat treated, which isn't likely, this highly skilled welder just royally screwed this job by welding on it with no filler metal.
you are100% right. i have been weldind superduplex (Zeron100) for years and striking an arc on duplex without adding filler wire is big no no. try telling the "experts" is a wast of friggen time.
i dont know where your from but in Australia these dicks are a big problem...
sorry but if i had a pipe like that i would put a route in then filler it up it would take longer but at least i know iv got the penertration on the inner and outer pipe respect for the wive but the christmass tree would be better as more penertration into the other welds to make the weld seem as one
if he was using mma or MIG fluxcorde so what it doesnt matter what he is using so long he has penertration on the inside of the pipe 1ml at least . was this pipe xray two see the penertartion ??? some of the pipes on oil rigs in the UK have two be xray becouse of the amount of pressure they come under other wise the companys can get sued.
@anniebinz140365 ..How many people besides you and I here know what autogenous even means...? you're right too, even on closed root with purge..still need filler...I've done this on lots of Inconel...8"-12"..pipe..
have you ever welded duplex, superduplex or Zeron100???
just asking cus all 3 have the same weldabillity. penetration on these metals isnt the same as stainless... its fast freezing and once the root gap closes you cant just push more filler wire in and expect it to flow in cus it wont.
@adamrach3 no i was welding a 20mm pipe backed on a 40mm plate and allso the guy looked like he was just using fusion no wire neather also in welding world im just a baby lol
@adamrach3 didnt you even understand i have done of one of these in three years.
when you said fast freezing of caurse it is sold once the arc has moved on.
any ways when i said filler it up i ment eather multie runs or filler wire but i would prefure multi runs then fustion at capping stage now does that answer your question ?????
I would like to see the torch setup, what size tungsten are you using and how much stick out is there. Also what schedule is your pipe and is it 37.5 bevel. What is your gap and land on the pipe this questions are to make me a better welder.
And I quote from the company sales literature,
"If I have experience welding other duplexes do I need to requalify to weld ZERON 100 products and what AWS Classifications cover ZERON 100X weld products."

what was you interpass temp?
what gass were you using??? (Argon-2%Nitrogen)
parts per million what was the purge reading
what heat inputs are you getting???

WTF you on about, you cant autogenous weld Duplex or Super Duplex.

@mackinone
Hey big Al.
in a nut shell.. torch= 2.4 Thoriated electrode with gass lense(diffuser)
stick out 10mm with 30degree point.
prep and landing: for 37.5 wall is 27 degree bevel with 1mm landing. 2to3mm gap i use 3mm.
gass is Argon with 2%Nitrogen Nitrogen is a Austinite former which you need.
interpass temp MAX=133degrees
travel speed using 100amps is pretty much 1mm of weld per second. (i can send you the formular if you want)
5G position (or any) push wire(2507) into top edge drag down
