Hes probably using faber castel pitt, or General Charcoal... Maybe 4b.... could be just b.... doesnt really matter though when structuring... as long as you dont dig into the paper like a caveman!
Can you tell me what did he use as an imprimatura? I mean, its dust from charcoal wich he with brush applied on a white paper or something else ... ??? Please reply, will appreciate it and you will help me with it

I think he started with the eyes, that is what I usually do, then measure from there. This guy is great!

He is definitely using compressed charcoal. The brand depends on the individual artist.

I believe he covered the surface with the side of his charcoal stick (might be 4b) then wiped it with a towel for that soft look.
