  • This story's so Nice it seems to be made up from the beginning!! I mean,Come on..this should be a christmas story for kids..peace

  • @IsSoMe2011 usually when people die they have 15 minutes a brain activity, so within 15 minutes you can see anything because you're hallucinating doesn't mean it's real. I was pronounced dead ones and I didn't see shit so stop spreading your religious propaganda everywhere.

  • @ItsSoMe usually when people die they still have 15 minutes of brain activity people see all kinds of shit doesn't mean it's real. I was pronounced dead ones and I didn't see shit. stop spreading your religious propaganda everywhere.

  • Great thing that centuries of scientific and philosophic advancement had given as moral other than the genocidal BS from the bible... there would be no questioning otherwise, these people would be crucified for not accepting Jesus.

also its good to see some unspoiled tribes are still out there, however I would like to see their reactions to say, if a physicist or a biologist talked to them and shared the theories and evidence.

  • Thank you for sharing this, it is an amazing story of an honest man.

  • This is a Great Video, Ilove to hear deconversion Stories..

  • the reason why you are blocking me because you can't take what I am saying.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 you are right, i cant take your stupidity any more. if you think people block you because you are right then you are more deluded than i thought. maybe take it as a sign that your stupidity actually annoys people to a point that they dont wish to speak to you any more..

you ignore everything we say , you dont back up any thing, you have no proof and you reply with complete bullshit.

why the hell would we want to speak to you??

its like speaking to a 4 year old retarded child!

  • It's not about physical proof, more of a spiritual way of understanding the truth of what is. And many people have gone to hell and back to life, when God has shown them the path they are choosing is wrong. They come back, becoming better people following the Lord. There is a change, and it's for the right reasons! And there has been scientific proof, but atheists love to deny it when it's explained to them! Why? It's not even that hard to believe! THERE IS A GOD!

  • Say if a person has prayed and prayed for God to heal them, but they are NOT following God the way they should, and disobeying His commandments. The person doesn't get healed. It goes on for years, nothing changes. But then the person then decided to change, and 'follow' God, because nothing else has worked for them. They pray once again for healing, and something happens - they are miraclulassly healed! Would you still say that it co-incidence? I really wouldn't, there is no such thing.

  • You are being skeptical no matter what I say. Do you consider your skeptism to be true? Spiritual matters go beyond our rational thinking, and has nothing to do with co-incidence. We are all put on earth for a purpose, like everything has a purpose. We can't deny this fact. The devil can give luck to a unbeliever, to lure them to stay 'of the world, materialistic, away from God'. It is one of it's tricks. The devil has power, but not over our Lord.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 "Ok God healed me the other day from something doctors couldn't" tell me the difference between a miracle and a rare event?

also tell me why there is no difference between good things that happen to christians and good things that happen to non believers. my ATHEIST friend Gary won 1 million pounds on the game show "red or black" here in the UK.

you see your miracle claims MEAN NOTHING! its coincidence and chance!

so again the difference between a miracle and a rare event??

  • @theUKatheist It is the truth, because the words in the Bible are the truth, and all predictions have come true anyway! This is your evidence. Not if you can 'see' forces with your eyes. That's irrelevant. It's about the 'circumstances of Divine Intervention' in one's life, as a result to their faith of God. This is your proof.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 "Ok God healed me the other day from something doctors couldn't" tell me the difference between a miracle and a rare event?

  • @ItsSoMe2011 this is my last reply because all you seem to be doing is troilling me with your garbage. i will not reply until you do the following

1 - explain the difference between a miracle and a rare event

2 - prove god exists ( without using a holy book or we could just say the quran is true )

3 - prove demons exist and that its not just those people who are bad.

4 - prove anything you are saying using actual evidence ( not the bible its bullshit )

i will respond when you do those.

5 - prove life after death is real

i will respond when you do those.

  • One question. If a person really doesn't believe, why are they so interested in planting doubt about God everywhere and criticizing? I tell you, it's the demons who love to hate God and His word, therefore will attempt to plant doubt in people's minds; the devil's lies! It is the father of all lies! So, rebuke all evil inside that is causing you to say all evil things against God and His Holy words. It is the devil causing these wrong actions, because it doesn't want people saved.

  • @ItsSoMe2011

"One question. If a person really doesn't believe, why are they so interested in planting doubt about God everywhere and criticizing?"

because other peoples beliefs effect us, they try telling us what to do , how to behave and who to be with.

the only people with "demons" inside them are people like you. who hate others simply because they do not believe the same as you. who call us evil when they have never even met us, you are the demons. not us.

    continued

  • @theUKatheist No, I hate demons, not people. I hate the way they control people into doing bad. I always love people, hence why I am spreading the truth. Would I really feel the need to do that if I didn't love people? No, but I do care about people and their salvation. I care! A person can't be pure without God! It's impossible! Please, choose the right path. Ignore the lies from the devil! Love good! ;')

  • @ItsSoMe2011 continued

please stop spreading your hate for a full denomination of people. there is no God, there is no devil, there are no demons. its just peoples imaginations, its us making shit up to justify things in this universe.

if you are going to say stupid things at least bring forward some evidence that a god exists or that the devil exists and that its not just good and bad people in this world by human nature.

why cant your god kill the devil? because THEY DO NOT EXIST!

  • @theUKatheist They do indeed exist. Your mind is allowing you to think what 'you' like, and rejecting all other truth that exists! You can't deny spirituality, so embrace it. There are millions upon millions of spiritual things happening each day. You can't reject that! The only thing that is getting annoyed with me spreading this is the devil. It likes to hide away, putting doubts in people's minds, since we can't see forces carnally. Live goes beyond what we can see with our naked eyes.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 look if you are going to reply you better have some proof to back up what you say. "They do indeed exist" prove it! "Your mind is allowing you to think what 'you' like, and rejecting all other truth that exists!" i can say the same to you "spiritual things happening each day" prove it. " You can't reject that!" i just did. " Live goes beyond what we can see with our naked eyes." prove it. in fact your whole comment is just your opinion with NO PROOF.
  • @theUKatheist Ok God healed me the other day from something doctors couldn't. And has done the same to other people I know who BELIEVE and follow God. You happy now? Or are you going to ask me for medical proof I can just post to you right away?

  • @ItsSoMe2011 "Ok God healed me the other day from something doctors couldn't" tell me the difference between a miracle and a rare event?

  • The devil is a hater against all good. Atheisium is an example of this. If God is pure and good, how can that be wrong? Answer? It isn't, but atheists have a hard time seeing that, because they only believe things of their 'mind' and not what God actually says! It is false knowledge. the devil has tricked you to believe, and they are all lies from the devil. Don't believe in it, please. Save yourselves from all evil. This world is evil.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 "The devil is a hater against all good"

no , religion is the hater of all that is good, all that is different. atheism is about logic, science and reason, there is nothing evil about that, the reason you think atheists are evil is simply because your religion tells you so!

the evil person here is YOU for judging, threatening and hating against us because your RELIGION TEACHES YOU TO HATE OTHERS!!!

    open your eyes to it!

we dont believe in the supernatural how is that evil exactly?

  • @theUKatheist YES BECAUSE THE DEVIL CREATES FALSE RELIGION! Of course it would, to confuse people into believing the actual truth of Jesus Christ. There is only one true preaching! This is the truth!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 "YES BECAUSE THE DEVIL CREATES FALSE RELIGION! "

what a load of crap, how do you know he didnt create yours!!?!!

you see the hypocrisy in your claims?

sorry but im beginning to think you are a troll because no one is that stupid as to believe without any proof whatsoever.

calling me ignorant for not just believing things with no evidence? what an absolutely stupid thing to say.

i have an invisible pet dragon, if you dont believe me your ignorant!

  • @theUKatheist Did I say it's evil? I would say it as being ignorant, because you are ignoring the facts of these things happening all over the world; therefore it is ignorance.

  • People of this world are in bondage and they may not know it. if a person is living in sin, they are trapped in their sins. It is a trick from the devil. It isn't freedom. Freedom comes by knowing God, following righteousness, and then being free from sin with the help of Jesus. This is freedom!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 freedom doesnt count if everythings a sin

  • GOD IS AMAZING! HE HEALED MY ANKLES! I used to have the ankles pains since small, i'm much older now, and i was having pains, so i prayed the other day (only recently i've wanted to really put God first and follow Him), and after i prayed, i felt tingly sensation all over my ankles, I knew Holy spirit was working to heal me!!! And now, I AM HEALED! AMEN! PRAISE TO JESUS!!!!! That was a few nights ago, and no pain, thank you my Lord so much!!

  • JESUS WILL TEACH YOU TO BE PURE!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 u know wut god did for me he gave my mom back pain and neck pain and she makes chocolate and she is a christian she preys every day guess wut all that happened was her back pains got worst then her chocolate business went down and now she sold the company is gone and she got some money from her dad so she got some money to go to school and god hasnt done shit for us he left us behind then all i said to him up there i had my finger to the sky

  • @blotzx You see how the devil fought against your faith, to believe God was the one who did that? The devil is a liar, and deceitful! You need to have total faith in God, knowing He is all good, and that the devil causes all the doubts, troubles, pains, etc...don't believe it's lies! Be persistent in faith! God healed my ankles which I have had a very young age, He HEALED ME! AMEN!

  • It is a pity Dan's family life broke up. Could that have been avoided ?I think Dan Everett maybe didn't handle the information in the most poker faced way. I would probably have done like him though, it is difficult when your worldview is changing not to just blurt out " a conversion conclusion ". A minister who comes to think it unlikely there is a god can remain and encourage people to also be more broadminded, study history & comparative religion & look at higher criticism of Bible

  • This world is full of hatred, wrong behaviour, blasphemy, unkindness, greediness..do people really think this is the right way to be? Of course not! We need to be humble. We can't be pure by ourselves, we need to call on Jesus Our Saviour! The devil is scared of people getting close to Jesus. This is why it causes lies against Him. There is no truth in evil! Please, open your eyes, and see it is this world that is brainwashing you, not God!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 for crying out loud, did you not learn anything from this video? or do you just troll around YT and post the same comment, over and over, on every atheist video you find? your comment on this video was out of context and/or did not pay attention. The Piraha's are the prime example of lack of "hatred, wrong behaviour, greediness, etc".

Besides, we don't want to be pure. wthat's just a ridiculous goal.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 The church culture has an unhelpful tendency to attempt to be black and white or right / wrong. In fact some condemn the reasons against side of the argument as satanic. You need to be aware of both pro and con for balance. Reading any book is about picking out the helpful ideas, the bright memes. It depends on your interpretation. I can pick bits out the Bible like the golden rule matt 7v12 which are worth having. See wisdomcommons org

  • Are you happy in the world? Do you feel the world is pure and holy? Do you find peace in the world? If there are people looking for the 'light', then turn to Jesus! He will deliver you from evil, and you will walk in light with Him! He is our Saviour, who sacrificed Himself for our sins, so we are able to have a chance here on earth. Good news? We all have a chance on earth to change! Follow Christ, He will take you out of the evil ways of the world, and you will be set free! AMEN!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 wow you have convinced me! NOT ... go to a channel where people care about that bullcrap.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 seriously, have you not watched the video? apparently not.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 On need discipline in right mind, right action, right thought; one need cultivate the good within: the pure heart most of us have at birth. Following one or another religion or leader (like your Christ) does not necessarily bring inner change. The transformation within may come regardless of outer creed. Your "christ" and my philosophies are in a way superfluous to the inner work which is open to all ages regardless of purported God incarnations, regardless of atheism or not.

  • @ItsSoMe2011 why did god put us in the world that is so "evil" in the first place ?.. and you say free? that is what i call double moral. You say that you are "free" when you are following instructions from a bok!. I am free, not you! i live my life as i want, and there is nobod

  • @Ssadriu and there is nobody there to tell me not to do so, that is what i call free!

  • @ItsSoMe2011 So you think only people who follows Jesus will be saved? what about all of those tribes that haven't heard of Jesus or the bible? are they going straight to hell? or what about the other hundreds religions? are they going to a different heaven specially designed for their faith? or they are also going to hell because they didn't follow Jesus?

  • @ItsSoMe2011 hey im gonna tell u a story i was in boyscouts one time it was sumer camp and i didnt even know wut atheist was at the time so we all gathered and the church in the camp this one guy that said the same thing all u Christians say i was a kid who was lost and now that i am christian i have now found my path to haven the hole time he was talking i was thinking of different ways to kill him then i found this religion called atheist and now i know why i hated him so badly

  • i love this religion and my mom even tryed to talk me out of it cuz she is a christian and iv ben in one of your stupid churchs that place.... that place is the place is the place that made me hate Christians i told them i was a none be leaver then they put me in some crap called a punishment box and i had to stay in there tell my mom and dad got out of church so guess wut i did after that i gave that ass hole the finger he said good luck in hell

  • Wow, kind of makes me want to pay a visit to the piraha people...

  • I read the book "Don't sleep there are snakes" which is about this tribe. This tells the whole story. Great reading. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Great video! So sad that his marriage ended simply by his believe in God was no more...

  • @FazSaber religion kills the real life of here and now !

  • 3.00+ Clipz or it never happened.

  • Best line in the whole video "WE LIKE MORE THAN ONE WOMAN" :D

  • Simply epic.

  • With all the blood that ran, the moon...*Igagai* knew how to make fish and other animals.

He had made many, but they inhabited the level above where the Pirahã lived.

Everett's work has not been excepted by peer reviewers in his field and is contested with evidence to the contrary, including other numerous flaws noted in his studies.

It would appear that you're just chomping at the bit to accept and take on faith that which you've failed to investigate.

So much for critical free thinking.

  • "In the beginning of the world, the first level immediately above that of the Pirahã was situated

much lower than it is today.

It was situated very close to the level in which they live. The moon, when it rose, appeared very low. One day, at night, a man decided to shoot arrows at the moon.

He climbed a high tree and released the arrow.

He hit the moon in the middle and its blood began to spurt...

  • "...The Brazilian anthropologist Marco Antonio Gonçalves turned out to have written two lengthy scholarly books in Portuguese, in which he recounts and discusses Pirahã mythic narratives, including a (re)creation myth.

These reports contradict Everett's claims about the Pirahã's lack of mythology and their lack of interest in creations and origins.

In the area of myths, however, we can rely on a very detailed presentation offered by Gonçalves (1993; 2001)...

  • @LizardLeaps and what books are you talking about?

  • @richardmoz

They are written in Portuguese, but are discussed and exerps translated into English demonstrative of findings not in accordence with Everetts claims.

You can pdf download the abstract-- Pirahã Exceptionality: a Reassessment*

    Andrew Nevins (Harvard)

    David Pesetsky (MIT)

One of Everett's former supporters who is highly accredited in his fields, cognitive scientist, Noam Chomsky professor of linguistics & philosophy at MIT, says that Everett is a charlatan.

  • @LizardLeaps I'll be reading the mit version today. Just found it. But what are you saying that all of everetts claims are wrong or just some of them. The point here is that they don't believe in a god. Do you say they do. Or what is your point about about his claim?

  • @richardmoz

Review the abstract at pg. 8, IEP and embedding, 5th paragraph, Then skip to pg. 44- Culture through the top of pg. 48 Conclaves -1993

Everett asserts that the Pirahã have "no myths" nor art and only communicate in terms of the immediate present, etc. inconsistent with other researchers findings.

There is an elaborate re-creation myth on page 44 which speaks of a seemingly supernatural being/s who created animals and lives above the Pirahã....

    (Cont'd

  • @LizardLeaps Thanks for pointing this out to me, I rushed reading this paper. on page 45 there is this.

'Technically speaking, it is true, this is not a myth in which the world comes into existence out of nothingness. It is not a creation myth in that narrow sense. As Gonçalves comments: "From this narrative, one can observe that the myth is not about the origin of the world proper, but about the recreation of the world.

  • @richardmoz

"Again there is no place that says they believe in god"

    You're welcome.

Technically you're correct, but nor is there generally for most purported beliefs in conventional eternal God/s either.

Everett's assertions becomes highly suspicious in the light of an existing presupposition with mythical qualities.

According to Everett, upon being asked if he'd seen Jesus, his miracles, etc. and after he answered in saying; "no,...

    (Cont'd...

  • @richardmoz

    (Cont'd...

"but instead that others had reported this by having written it down, the Pirahã lost interest in hearing the message of God in Jesus Christ.

This would be inconsistent for the apparent interest in a recreation myth held by the Pirahã as Conclaves reports,...

    (Cont'd...

  • @richardmoz

    (Cont'd...

...and which would obviously not be first hand knowledge, but orally transmitted.

I personaly reserve a warranted amount of caution in accepting Everett's claims at face value, as opposed to the many who appear to be chomping at the bit to accept it without delving deeper.

Even for the fact that one of his former supporters in professor Noam Chomsky...

    (Cont'd...

  • @richardmoz

    (Cont'd

...with 50 years of research and accreditation in his fields accuses Everette of being a charlatan.

Under the Consideration of Chomsky negative acusation being of a personal nature rather than of a professional one, it isn't unreasonable to hold reservation to any conclusion, if/when or until more independent research is performed and data gathered.

    (Cont'd...

  • @richardmoz

    (Cont'd...

...After all, it certainly wouldn't be the first time religious, nonreligious, or other, set out with an unscrupulous motive, in pursuit of the lucrativeness that best selling books and touring the lecture circuit lends itself to.

It's been good speaking with you richardmoz and take good care.

  • @LizardLeaps Igagai recreated the world, permitted the ibiisi to reproduce, and created the animals. There is no reference to the origin of Igagai and the other abaisi that inhabit the cosmos. They are as a given, created eternally." Again there is no place that says they believe in god.

  • Comment removed

  • @LizardLeaps Hello again, I have read that abstract that you were talking about. No where in that paper did he said that they were not atheists. The paper was about some problems with translating their speech those problems where only problem with Everett's claims and the point was that they were atheists. As with writing about mistakes in someone's papers is how science works, there was no statement that whole paper was bad, just a couple points.

  • GREAT CHANNEL :)

  • So interesting, thanks for pointing this story out. I'm on a quest now to read up on Piraha's and Daniel Everett. I'm mostly curious to find out how they pass knowledge from generation to generation and also weather they engage in rituals and make art. Love your stream which I only recently discovered bytheway. I'm a life-long Atheist (Adeist even) and am really impressed with your commitment to cause. You've made a friend! :-)

  • no one needs retarded religions good for this tribe that said NO !

  • @theUKatheist

I believe this is the first video of yours I have viewed. I liked it and will look through more of your content.

    Veritas Vincit

  • @MaIcoImZieI hahaha, are you being serious? I think everyone knows who the failure is here. Welcome to the troll/moron if the month section! Haha.

  • @MaIcoImZieI

We'll still be all living in caves if religions had their way.

  • @MaIcoImZieI You think they're failures for living in a natural environment and not polluting and raping the planet in the name of materialism? They are not failures. The people who try and pollute their minds with theism are failures. If only "missionary work" (which is in fact brainwashing) could be be illegalized and policed

  • @MaIcoImZieI Yep, no mortgage foreclosure, no minimum wage, no one judging them, no corporate watchdogs on them. Yep, massive fail there. Idiot.

  • @MaIcoImZieI

To say that they are wrong because of where they come from is to commit the genetic fallacy.

  • @MaIcoImZieI derp derp jebus...You're an idiot

  • @MaIcoImZieI more logical than christians ! and f that lot of religious fools !

  • @MaIcoImZieI We should teach them to chop off the feet of people who do not agree with them.

  • @MaIcoImZieI Are you nine years old?

  • Awww ;0;

  • A very good account. Thanks for posting. I was of the opinion that all blind faith retards were beyond help.

Perhaps you have discovered a cure for Delusional Disorder. Total immersion in an environment of present reality and ridicule for delusional beliefs.

  • A floating head 'converts' to atheism.

  • "wow! They cut off his head! Play that again!" PMSL

    They certainly are incredulous!

  • @TheGodlessGuitarist Sounds like you may need the services of a urologist. ;-)

  • @policechaser

    is it that noticeable? ;o)

  • Well finally a tribe that didn't get ruined by horse shit christianity. Drink a bowl of hot piss christianity you deserve it.

  • I'm Maori from New Zealand, which was called Aotearoa before the English came and settled. We were not religious, had no ties to any church. We had our own mythology, stories etc. that get passed down. As far as I'm concerned my people were atheist (without god).

  • @SuperJBrowne This information should give theists a good insight into the validity of some of their claims. Majority of indigenous people around the world are atheist. They have no concept of Jesus or God. If God did exist then how come all these tribes around the world dont know about him? Because it's all made up.

  • intriguing video and story. I found this very enjoyable.

i thin it is very important that we believe the things we experience and not blindly believe things that we have not experienced.

I never understood how people could just 'have faith' in something they had never had any evidence for other than words from a preacher.

  • After 45 years I had my last spiritual deception following a guru from India for 12 years ,till I allowed myself to read about his personal sexual life , and the abuses to children , even murders on his ashram. That was the final stroke any religious believe had a hold on me . Since then I am reading and watching videos like this to open myself to the reality of living without fantasies about God or a higer being ruling my life. To much time invested in feeling a sinner . Now is a new begin.

  • @theUKatheist, in mere seconds of listening to this video I noticed some "fishy" clues that make me question the entire story. For example, this former Bible translator speaks of his "company" being "Summer Institute of Linguists". Yet, any trained linguist knows that the non-profit organization (not "company") is called "Summer Institute of Linguistics." A genuine Bible translator would never make such an error. Even secular ethnolinguists know this because of SIL's scholarly reputation.

  • @Vulnerable101 P.S.: I realize that Everett has gone on to make a career in academia and his linguistics theories and fieldwork experiences are worthy of study. But I just don't understand how a first person account in this audio could make such fundamental errors of fact.

  • if he drank ayahusca with them, he would have instantly turned atheist.

  • DAWKINS AKBAR!

  • yep, already heard of these tribes.

  • Im so happy this tribe was able to ignore this guys original indoctrinating BS. Just the thought that he would go there to tell them, like he said, that they are lost and they need to find jesus to have meaning in life, makes me sick. And im also really happy that he used his brain and finally came to his sences about believing in things which have not been proven.

  • Wonderful history, confirm some of my thoughts that there must have been tribes and cultures without religion. Love it, almost felt some tears ;)

Thanks for upploading and pointing me/us to this

  • good stuff as always, isn't buddhism an atheistic religion (if that's not an oxymoron)

  • @1empathy Buddhism is atheistic but cleaves on to the existence of spirits, supernatural beings and an afterlife. It is atheistic to the extent that it denies the existence of a creator. In its corrupted version, i.e. Tibetan Buddhism, it has almost as many 'gods' as the Hindus do, with mind-numbing rituals and ceremonies that need to be performed in order to secure a better life in this world and the next. Tibetan/Nepalese Buddhism is borderline Hinduism with an additional god- the Buddha.

  • Material for a major Hollywood production! :-)

  • I started watching atheist videos because I agree with the move away from organized religion. But I quickly started to see the inflexible reliance on logic, reason, evidence, etc., which has become tedious and monotonous. I also started to notice the tribal mentality -- us vs. them.

I would urge atheists to watch "Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address". In it he talks about love, faith, intuition, heart, etc. -- things that atheists tend to trash and minimize. Jobs was a Buddhist, btw.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs

""inflexible reliance on logic, reason, evidence, etc."

whats wrong with those, free thinking and am open mind?

    "Jobs was a Buddhist, btw."

    he was an atheist then.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs ".....I also started to notice the tribal mentality -- us vs. them." You pointed this as an atheist virtue?

If so re-listen to 7:30-8:15 what position do you think adheres more stringently to the us vs them mentality. There are other examples of theists(do to their dogmatic belief system)souring or breaking off relations when they find out someone they know & love is an atheist. Theists may blame the atheists for separating friends/family but the theists do the ousting.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs I hope you are aware that there is no God in Buddhism. So in reality Jobs was an atheist.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs You're kidding right? "inflexible reliance on logic" Flexing on logic means you are being illogical...

Why would anyone want to be illogical?

    "Or listen to reason

    Open your eyes

It’s a wonder what you’ll find with an open mind

"Or listen to reason. Open your eyes. It’s a wonder what you’ll find with an open mind."

  • Cheers for this little gem of a video.

Exposure to other cultures and religons is probably a great thing for all. Makes your/our personal religious conquest seem a little less important and most importantly... accurate.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs "inflexible reliance on logic" and how whuld you go on understanding the world mister? as for tribal mentality, you dont know how hard it is to be inclusive when people tell you that you are going to hell if you dont convert. while i disagree vicously, does not mean i have anyother proplems with these people. i disagree on one point with them. atheist if anyone disagree with eachoter more then they do with anyone else. intuition is no prove, faith is an fools gamble.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs allso, we do feel love. and its no less important. we just hate when people throw the word around, claming that their god "loves" us when he is gonna torture us just bechose we culd not belive the unbelivable. They butchure the word meaningless. Its diabolical.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs Jobs might very well be alive if he'd had more faith in real medicine when he first learned he had cancer.

  • @MrPelicanBriefs Jobs never ever donated to any charity as he believed they all were money MONGERS ! I agree also ! he knew charities only line their pockets as religions do !

  • @MrPelicanBriefs Where do you get your idea's of how others think. I've been an atheist all since I was 14 and it had nothing to do with inflexible reliance but when religious people try to you logic, reason and evidence, etc to prove their faith they fail. Noticing tribal mentality comes from believing in a tribal 2000 year old book.

  • ive read 'dont sleep there are snakes'. the religous bits are only a small part of the book but very amusing, the rest deals with tribal language and culture. its an excellent read and well worth checking out

  • damn i feel bad for this guy. his relationship with his family ended because he found a new way of life. :/

  • Amazing story!!! I never heard of a tribe that didn't believe in God. Excellent!

  • Thank you very much for posting this.

  • Awesome :)

  • I like that tribe :)

  • wonderful story!

  • Not anywhere near as impressive as Antony Flew, atheistic philosopher turned theist. Maybe Dawkins will be next if he has the courage to think outside the little cultic world he has generated for himself.

  • @FormerFluffBunnie Actually Flew turned DEIST not THEIST. But don't let that fact get in the way of your irrelevant and asinine comment.

  • @FormerFluffBunnie

I thought it was the other way around. In USA atheists may look like a cult (to some), but in Europe, and especially in Scandinavia, very few believe in a god (apart from old people).

  • @FormerFluffBunnie what nonsense.

  • It took this guy 20 years to admit that he was an Atheist. It took me about 2 weeks of researching what it was that i was supposed to be believing in to realise that it was all complete rubbish. Thats America for you.

  • I read that book. Excellent book. Highly recommend it.

  • Very interesting. Makes me want to live with the pirahas. Also, i just realized how backward our civilized society is, with all the religions. with people, constantly thinking about the future or the past, not savoring the present, that is.

  • Have you heard of the Cargo Cult?

If not, that is one you would really like.

Hope you are well. I loved this one as well.

  • It's an incredible story.

  • thanks everyone for your comments :)

  • what an inspiring story..i did empathize with the amount of time it took him to shake of those final deep rooted feelings of guilt religious indoctrination inflicts on the young..thanks for posting

  • Wow it's not often that I'm presented with information that is totally new to me but today I have been. I had always assumed that belief in the super natural was in some way innate in our species and that only the more advanced cultures or individuals had learned to shed it. There is certainly hope for humanity if there are tribal people's who have no concept of superstition or god :-)

  • @LeftyFrenchFries Right, "a being that lives above the clouds" could be any visible phenomenon: bird, moon, sun, optical illusions, stars, meteors, planets, even a cloud formation that appears to be above the others in some vaguely recognizable shape. Those are all possible candidates, and more.

  • Thank you for this. It was trully interesting. Also about the burden of proof, we are all born atheists and just for that the burden falls to the theists.

  • Furthermore proving how ignorant JesterBuzzyGirl is...
