  • was down there last summer stayed in the holiday homes near the light house. lovely area! as soon as we drove into the town and i saw loftus hall i knew there was a story for that place i wanted to go visit it but it had a sign on the gate saying private property keep out :(

  • * Claps hands* bravo bravo , that was agood story that scared the living daylights out of me , you are a good storyteller 100 goldstars to you my good sir wonderful

  • The Loftus Hall legend was some kind of an next Irish folklore. And the man with the devil boots was a sinner gambler, and a pirate or crook dress as a devil himself. In the end the stranger went up to the roof top, mean he escaped by running through with a clay smoking pipe. And a man made smoke bombs, and disappeared to the roof top. And he must be a man who met Stingy Jack.

  • Loftus Hall?

After a spectacular through the ceilings and roof exit like that they should have renamed the place 'Leftus All' in his honour.

  • exactly the same story for the hellfire club in wicklow..weird that.

  • lads in all fairness this is a load of dicky i live near it it was a cover up as the lords daughter slept wit the stranger who arrived there on the night and this was the cover story the buiding today aint even the original building it was built over it its now just a run down old dump thats bein robbed by the whole place this video all wrong

  • loftus hall is actully gone its in ruins at the back of loftus house so theres no hole no devil wat a load of nonsense... fuck off

  • I was in Loftus Hall when i was a baby so I cant remember but me Da told me when we were there he went up to order a drink and the woman already had the drinks and 2 snack bars out for him before he even ordered..freaky.

  • I have never understood why people type out a word how it would sound if spoken like dat or der....is it suppose to be hip hop or something? Because it comes across as highly uneducated.

  • i love loftus halll ha xxxxx i want to go see it i dont know were it is do ha lol xxxx

  • gread video but i was wondering why the name "open the blue trap door"

  • very good video

  • It's my understanding this won an Academy Award.

  • Re: "It's my understanding this won an Academy Award." Well actually it was nominated, but it didn't win. Apparently they thought the acting was a bit 'wooden'....the paper characters had 'no depth'... ; - D

  • Ugh shivers down my spine, supernatural tales always fascinate me. I want to believe you but the idea seems so out there lol

  • For it

  • I was born in Waterford and raised in Wexford I loved hearing this story as a child even now I still live

  • i live in waterford and that story was passed down through my family for generations, just like other familys in the southeast of ireland

  • Never mind the nay-sayers, this film is halirious! Its the serious voice, unnerving music combined with the cheap cut-outs for characters that make it so unique. Don't know what your budget was, but here in the USA they spend millions and most films are 100X worse. Have any of the Tottenhams ever commented I wonder?

  • @goodkarma33 thank you. You have a couple of interesting videos posted over there on your channel. What are those, pianolas? I know they're not, since a pianola would have a keyboard up front, but am too lazy to google it....probably called cylinders or something. Very nice idea to record these tunes.

  • ok this is the same story of the hell fire club in dublin and the one in kildare god this story of the devil playing cards is as old as the hills and is told about every old house in the country god find a new story

  • @paddythejack Agreed. This story gets around, It would not surprise me if there was some main land Europe version of this story.

Also I think the only reason the devil left was because he knew he had a losing hand, and not because they knew who he was. Sore loser indeed. :P

  • sham dats a shit video.. i dont believe in any a dat shit but i wonder tho is dat tale a load a shite is is it true.. did any1 ever break in der and c for dem selves if any shit happen while der in der??

  • @obholian

did "any of shit happen while der in der??"

Gee. I don't know. Maybe some shit happen while "der in der", yes....maybe nothing happened while "der in der". Maybe it's a mystery. Maybe you're not supposed to know what happened while "der in der"....

  • @openthebluetrapdoor hahaha Reminds me of the scene in 'Withnail and I' when they find the hare hanging from the door and Uncle Monty reads out the attached note "Here hare here".

  • @obholian For years there was a an old man living behind the building and if you trespassed on the land he'd whip out his rifle. The family who owned it previously didn't want any of the history getting out, like there's no books on it as far as I know cos that's what the residents in hook head said. I know people vandalised it alright but not if anyone was crept out. Plus its in the middle of nowhere. Not many people want to go out there. This version is slightly wrong though.

  • iv been down here before im from wexford is it true that the roof cant be fixed i heard that every time somone trys to fix it ,it just falls down again?? and will everyone who is saying oh you owe me 6 mins of my life back just shut the fuck up like no1 made you watch this video

  • @litleleprachaun101 i live 5 mins up the road from it, I know the owners of it, had the original video tape of the legend of loftus hall, so yea I think i pretty much own you.

  • bad video man and your story is wrong, why did ya even do this crap i dunno, my m8 has a house right beside it and its haunted too, am mad to go into it next time i'm down n i know theres evil in it tob honest but that video and story was just crap

  • U wasted 6 muinets of my life!!! I'll get u! Just a word of warning... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  • ....and four words of warning-DONT WATCH STUPID VIDEOS!

  • @TheZajebant25

17,000 people can't be wrong. my friend!

  • @openthebluetrapdoor yes they can and they regularly are. this is a stinking pile of shite.

  • Brillant mate I watched it in school today Scared the crap out of a girl when the devil jumped out of the house. Brilliant job.

  • Don't know how credible this is, but is really a very interesting little short film.

  • I was in side that house today its a shame to see such a beautiful house go to waste x their is no hole in the roof

  • what load of complete load of bullshit

theres been no research done on the subject at all

not one bit of this is true

    ya time waster

  • I hate it when I drop one , by accident :-|

  • but i thought that the building that is there now is new and was made years after the story in the 1880s

  • yes, I visited this building in the 70's, invited to 'fix an aeriel on the roof....as a friend and mself were on the roof...the 'ledging gave way....I almost fell to me death.....

  • Its true... but the sttorys sorta diferent. the owners hall was playing cards with her father and the stranger. then she saw the hooves.. the devil shoot up through the roof. then the daughter went mad and was locked in her room. she curled up in a ball and didnt move. her bones were found a few years ago still curled up in a ball.

  • This is interesting. I have uploaded this story if you check my uploads. It was told in the Jerry Johnson film called Land Of Celtic Ghosts, completed and released in 1979. But when this was made they hadn't discovered her remains at that stage

  • the version i heard was it was a nun who dropped her cards , saw the hooves and blessed herself and he shot up thro the roof

  • I agree with Spookypalooza, it's beautifully done, the story itself may be debatable, as Iagree with Fujimiaaya, Christians liked to spin scary tales about the veil of playing cards for money, and a little xenophobia has ever been the tool of any local authorities.. But the video is a gem, the voice the paper cut outs, [leaving the rat aside, that didn't add anything] ..worthy of a spot on a childrens tv show!

Thank you so much for sharing, and I'm looking forward to more 'dark tales'.. :)

  • Actually, although amateur, I liked it! I even liked the cut out characters because it gave life to the photo of the empty room.

I didn't care for the screaming rat thing because I couldn't hear what the narrator was saying and it was too harsh on the ears. Better to let the story speak for itself and allow it to sink into the viewer's mind rather than add shock-factor screaming effects.

    That was fun! Thanks!

  • Hahahahahahahaha

    SAD SAD SAD :( :( :(

  • they cant fix the roof where the devil went through it just keeps falling back in its true ive seen it years ago

  • @eiregc09 Thats impossible considering its not even the same building as the old one.

  • forget about the haunting in CT, they are haunted by paper cut out ghosts!

  • ..good scary story.

  • i was in wexford this week nd i saw the mansion spooky but brill xxxxx

  • we hav d very same story about d hellfire club in dublin im sure evert county in ireland has d same devil story

  • Comment removed

  • i have a theory why LUCIFER escaped through the roof. he wanted to h urt CHARLES but GOD stopped him. if LUCIFER is able to appear in the human world then GOD is able to appear in the human world too.

  • Oh please, There is no such entity as Lucifer. That is simply Christian Superstition and A poor excuse for the pagan god Pan who by the way is not evil he is a fertility god you dolt.

  • I also wanted to add that this seems like a cautionary tale about not trusting those who remain silent about their selves. this was a trait admired by pagans. to know to will to dare and to KEEP SILENT.this also displays an inherent fear of all things strange and wild as Pan is also a wild god.

  • I agree, most of these christian stories are all about placing blame.. no wonder they never succeeded in totally driving out the pagan beliefs, despite the propaganda campaign.. ;)

  • Apart from "the card" story, there really isnt a whole lot else that was ever reported from the building. When it was a hotel in the 80's there wasnt to my knowledge any specific mention of paranormal incidents occuring or indeed before that period and after. The place undoubtedly has a creepy fascinating aura about it, although i doubt its actually haunted. Hope it gets refurbished and could definitely be used as a tourist attraction which would be good for the area.

  • What i heard is, there was a fancy ball being held in the hall, a woman(daughter of owner) was dancing with a stranger, she looked down and saw the tip of his hoof peeping out, she screamed and everyone looked at the man, and he shot through the roof, but good video!

  • they were playin cards and she dropped her cards and seen the hoofed feet, not dancing

  • the guys accent makes this so unscary

  • love this story!! used to hate bein told about it when i was young. i wouldnt ever go in side the gates of loftus hall just used to stay outside and look in at it,

  • what a load off bull since that suposed insedent the original manor has been leveled. I love how a story seems to change over and over again, it always ends up being dramatised. LoL

  • WRONG!

  • your right you are wrong.

  • I saw it yesterday you moron

  • Im just saying that this is a different version to what most people know. No need to be so overly sensitive.

  • if u tink dats a load of bull look up da blair witch

  • 5:18-20: Again, LMAO!!!!

  • 3:35-37- LMAO!! The figurine thing ('The Devil') just staring at the camera!!!! x-o

  • I was jst outside of loftus hall 2day nd from wat i was researchin is dat it was his daughter who discovered the mans hoof nd she went mad after it nd she died nd later haunted the house nd Father Thomas Broaders "Who exorcised the Ghost of Laftus Hall"!

  • very good:)

  • the hole isn't actually in the roof anymore, that building that stands there 2day was infact built in the 80s after the old loftus hall was dimolished

  • its not sold, get your offers in now!!!!

  • nice one!!!! i did alot of research on loftus hall and you are almost spot on!!!!!

  • nice 1!!!!! ur almost spot on!!!! i did alot of research on loftus hall and it was actually anne tottengham, charles' daughter who discovered the cloven foot. . . . . .

  • Maith an fear! Ta ceart agat. I read that too when I did my own research. Oddly enough, the version I had always heard involved a group of card-playing men. No Anne to be seen! I suppose, like all good stories, the tale got garbled in the constant re-telling. A litle gets added and a little gets taken away. But yes, apparently it was Anne who saw the hooves and later went mad. I suspect there was some affair between her and the 'handsome stranger' who later became demonized in the story. Anyone?

  • Thats the very same story as the one from celbridge house in Co. Kildare. Such bull!

  • you owe me 6 minutes and 44 seconds of my life. you just made a joke of loftus hall.

  • Hmmm...interesting comment.

  • That's telling him!

  • thanks for your coment on my loftus hall vid,,,But just so u know that,s the same story as the hellfire club in Dublin and the same story is in a few counties in ireland,,The real story is about the daughter of charles tottenham got pregnant by the man who came to take shelter for a few days and her father ashamed , hid her even when she needed a doctor when giving birth he didnt get one,,so she died giving birth and so did the child and now she haunts the place.. it is blocked up now.

  • Thanks!. Never knew of the place. We are planning a trip to Ireland in a year or two and may check this out.

    Appreciated!
