  • Wow what kind of flute do you play on? It's got amazing sound quality

  • absolutely beautiful... :)

  • DAMN. O_O

  • This piece is so wonderful! I really love it and I especially love the way you played it and how I have a wonderful recording of this piece.

  • I really love your sound! It's a beautiful piece, but it looks like you have terrible posture. Maybe you have to lean and it doesn't really affect your sound, but it would look better if you played straight. Not trying to be mean because you are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than me, but I'm just saying. Anyways... good job (:

  • filled with grace and beauty

  • That is sooo awesome!!

  • wow that's the most beautiful thing i have ever heard on the flute, u r just so amazing i have been playing for 2 years i couldn't imagine myself as great as u wow :D

  • Nina - You should record Katherine's To Greet the Sun! It's amazing!

  • awesome stuff ive been playing for 8 years, just spent a few months on fantaisie pastorale hongroise by doppler. now i know what to work on next haha

  • Fantastic. I was told today in my high school band class that I was to look up a professional on our instrument. Of course, I had already seen some of your videos, and knew instantly where to go. The point of our assignment was to find a player who has a beautiful tone, so we can aim to play the same way. Bingo! I've found the sound I'm looking for! Also, this inspires me to keep playing my instrument, because I want to go far with my music. Thank you, for sharing your amazing music with the re

  • Simply amazing, I love how you say you spent a week getting to know it, as if it were nothing. I have been playing flute for nearly a decade and am still miles behind you. You are my inspiration to continue with it though!

  • @cozmocon Oh my, I played this piece for one week but I had played flute for over 25 years when I learned this! I didn't learn to play flute in one week!!!!

  • @ninaflute Haha I understood that part, I meant that you had looked the piece over for a week. Truly remarkable =]

  • @ninaflute HAHAHA this comment made me laugh so much!!

i was hesitating on flute, clarinet, or trumpet as my next instrument, but i think its clear which one i need now :)

    thank you!

    amazing playing as usual

  • you probably don't remember playing this too too much, but is there anything i need to really pay attention to when i perform this? (I'm doing it this year as a graded solo)

  • Oooh :) I think I know what I want to buy next :D Stellar performance as usual :) Tell Rachael Gasser Brennan says hi ;)

  • WOW....its a really good piece...how do you play, what are the notes i would like to kno them because i also play the flute

  • This sounds fun to play. =)

  • I love the interpretation. I feel like I'm in a native American camp watching everyone dance. And who cares what she looks like when she plays? Have you ever seen dan bouriakov? He's got an off center playing position, and he sounds amazing. When it comes down to it, you don't watch music, you play and listen. :)

  • LOVE this piece!

  • amazing!

  • I only wish I had just that much talent/skill.

  • 2:49 was definitely a strange instance. Winter Spirits maybe?

I do enjoy this song. I think you could program this, maybe not for a very big concert, but it's nice regardless! :)

  • i was wondering if you could play a jazz solo. its hard for me to think of one. by the way you played wonderful!

  • duh!

  • Ive noticed how you move around alot, i have discovered while i was playing my flute that it makes it easier to breath when you move around. Ilovemyflute

  • 2:49 ? What was that coco nut sound off stage ? I saw your eyes. The tune's "ok". You play it very well. The tune sounds like so many others. I wouldn't program this. Buy the way, I got my ' Sankyo ' in 1978. I still love it. You play so well; keep it up.

  • thanks Welford.

  • @thewelford I disagree with you in several regards. First and foremost I doubt this piece is clichéd because even Mrs. Perlove had not heard of. Secondly, the technical execution needed to pay this makes it unique.

    Best,

    --Derek

  • that sounded perfect

  • A very enjoyable piece... Thanks Nina

  • awsom nina :)

  • Very nice piece indeed.

I've heard of bass and tenor flutes, though I know they are very rare, own/ever played any? It would be very interesting to see.

  • Does she play piccolo? Or any other kind of flute? I would like to hear that.

  • i <3 it u are so good! i really wanna play like u!! :)

  • Nina i really love this piece...its lovely :)

  • oye nina tocas excelente, es muy forte tu sonido y pesado me gusta mucho. solo tengo una pregunta. ¿por qué inflas los cachetes?

  • This is a beautiful piece, Nina! Just what I need today!

  • Thanks, Becky!

  • Very nice!!! A need for every flute collection!

  • LOVE this song. At 4:17 are you just doing some intence vibrato??

  • wow that really is intense

  • 0:42 no kid ding

  • bellissimaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • w-o-w.... i suck compared to this!! your good!!

  • Is that just an intense vibrato at 4:07 or some other effect. Fascinating sound either way!

  • It sounds like a double trill to me...I dunno...what is it really?

  • I'm pretty sure it's what's called a timbre trill, which is an alternation between two different fingerings for the same note.

  • Yes, it's an alteration of a trill. Instead of trilling a normal A you trill your F E and D keys, while holding the A fingering.

  • How Long Have You Been Playing For?

  • wow you really are great when you played this piece i was easily taken away by the sound it felt that i was in the middle of the forest and nature was speaking to me...........................it realy feels good......good job

  • I really like the interpretation.. makes mine seem pretty flat and dull haha!

This is such a wonderful piece, and there's not many great recordings of it, so thanks for sharing this one!!

  • I am Brazilian AND I find q remain perfeito in case that she coverts um style as of musical than it is to we have called CHORINHO "! Nina , I am without words flute along you accomplished ringing is not um instrumento, mas yes I am , the bridge between us AND the soul! congrats

It has such a mysterious oriental influenced sound.

    Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • beautiful....I love the pauses....they really add to the piece.....you kind of, almost think it's over...and yet it's not...very cool

  • some arabian inspiration in the middle I think :D

I don't know if it reminded me a lot of winter though... but I guess to each their own right?

    loved it.

  • Omg, you're my hero :D my band teacher asked us to find someone for inspiration. Like, a pro that can show us what our instrument is supposed and is capable of sounding like. I think I just found my flute pro ;D

  • Holy the fast tonguing in this piece is ridiculously fast! It sounds amazing when you play it! Great work!

  • ohmy your really good, I posted a response and i feel like im a beginner , im not :)

  • i like how u move with the music. ;) really cool. u can tell ur really involved in the piece, :)

  • I love this piece. I get a Native American vibe from it.

  • Your flute playing is really speak to me i will continue to listen to , it is entrancec, charmful accept my admiration.

  • Great piece. Influences of Copeland?

  • Exquisite:)... Interesting - from the comments, some are hearing Chinese. I'm hearing Native American. Whatever the inspirational origin, it is beautiful.

  • I can hear both in it.. but maybe it's just me???

  • Wonderful piece and your playing is amazing!

  • This piece does seem to have some oriental inspirations or influences, but it also breaks free from most conformities brought in by classical music. something like this played by such a talented player deserves undivided attention! I am loving this!

  • you're very good

    TERRY

  • omg this is one of the most beautiful flute pieces ive ever heard

  • I loved it too! Although it made me think of spring, not winter, with birds starting to chirp and nature coming back to life. That's what this piece reminds me of. Good Job Nina. :)

  • Thank you I can't stop listening to this beautiful music.

  • AMAZING...

    Lots of emotion... good.

  • Nina, u are amazing as usual.

  • Honestly , iT Sounds Kind Of Chinese .. I'm Not That Fond Of Chinese Music .. But I really Do LOVE LOVE LOVE mArch Band Music And Things With A Big BOOOOM iiN It .. That's What Makes Me Go WOOOW!! :D:p Yeah Lol I'm Not Much A Calm Person Kind Of Music .. But Like If You Find Anything That Has Like A March To It Or A Big Beat .. I'd Really Like TO Hear That .. Do You Play With Bands LIke With Every Section? Or Just SOlo Anywayz Yur Good No Matter What! :D:D

  • Wonderful music. I love it. Thank you, Nina.Greetings from Germany.

  • i love to see who you put heart and passion itno it... that makes the difference...

  • Sounds really nice, relaxing. Started with very fresh sound, feel like in the calm woods and lakeside relaxing. It also has some Chinese music taste, in my opinion. Slowly the music starts to feel dull and moody, also gradually more haunting, like the haunting night in the forests or in the lonely desert atnight, and the haunting call of the sound of the bird. just curious, is it unaccompanied? it sounds really nice on its own without accompaniment.

  • I just learned of this piece this year. I heard it done at a Penn State University recital. The flutist had a really neat interpretation. I don't have the music in front of me, but on several of the long tones she let the notes go flat.. sounds very eerie.

  • very interesting piece- is it new? thanks this programme- utube everyone can listen new and very interesting far from USA

  • This piece was written in 1997.

  • I love it. It is haunting but it's also very enchanting. Full of wonderment in disguise.

  • Marvelous, Nina. Great. You have done very well.

  • "=o Amazing , that was beautiful. keep up the awesome work.

  • Beautiful :)

  • 2:51 why did u look at your left? XD

  • Lovely, as always. This is a piece to which I can easily create a mental motion picture that captures the essence of its title. Thank you for giving the info for the FCNY, I stopped by the site and left a comment. Is that your playing on the home page?

  • Wow amazing piece! Your skill is incredible.

Whats a way I can improve my dynamics? I have a lot of trouble playing softly. Everything I play had to be medium or loud, or I can't get a good sound.

  • so pretty! Blows my solo out of the water, not to mention the atmosphere...

I WOULD buy a copy, but Im afraid im not quite at that kind of playing level yet. So ill just enjoy listening to you play it.
