bullshit, the law makes sure that every kid is registered at a school, and that is also a right. When one school shuts down the few kids that are left in that area go to the nearest public school. Just one more reason why the Detroit Board of Education has no reason to be in charge of this school district. I would say, from looking at other videos of shuttered Detroit schools, that there is equipment, books and furniture still inside. If there was an exit plan for this or any other school that was closed, it was never carried out. Only the school board is clueless as to why the state constantly intervenes into "their business".

I grew up on Mitchell & Canfield. I know this building. I know the kids in the neighborhood. I know that there's still so much life and hope and love around that building. I also know what outsiders see when they walk down that block. I'm familiar with the vacant lots and the half burnt and abandoned houses. I guess i just don't understand what it is you expect to get from a video like this. I hate it when people only look in one direction without looking around and taking in the entire picture

@Semir313 I would disagree. My cousins graduated from Denby and Redford High Schools in the late 50's and 60's. Unfortunately, the riot hurt this once great city more than any other urban center in America. It wasn't forgotten because I want Detroit to be great. I have hope for Mayor Bing but look who preceeded him. Detroit has historically elected people who didn't have the best interests of those they were to serve.

i went to that school and still live across the street, they have burned that school more times than i can remember. DPS actually spent over 400 thousand in 2004 on the school only to close it in 2005.

One problem I see as a middle school teacher is lack of discipline, desire to learn, work ethic and basic 10 Commandments and Noahide Laws on the part of students towards others, their schools, teachers and communities. Too many young people are waiting for someone to "fix" things for them when they need to learn how to fix things themselves. Not to think of what they "can't" do, but what they"can" do. Definition of a slave: Someone that is waiting for someone to set them free. Do it yourself.
