The hate between NASCAR fans and F1 fans its all about pride, cause both series are really cool, at the time I was following Formula One I "discovered" NASCAR and I really liked that type of racing. Actually every type of racing is really cool, Im an auto racing fan (F1, Indy, NASCAR, Arca, Off Road, Rally, Turismo, etc...)
NASCAR may be a bunch of left turns, but F1 is a bunch of simulated car racing via computer controls. Both sports have their disadvantages, but seriously, they're both racing series, and I love them both to death.
@TheGoaltender94 Im not talking about racing in circles that would never work in f1, im talking about a street circuit, down the stretch or something. Im sure something could be figured out if they managed to do it in new york. (which im a very happy man )
fair play to both stewart and hamilton. i dont understand why all the bickering here is necessary? if you've ever tried nasacar racing and f1 racing simulators, eg gt5, then its clear that both series are extremely difficult in their own right. to be able to string consecutively good laps takes one heck of a lot of skill, so theres no need to detract from one or the other. at least hamilton and stewart have the grace to show each other the respect they deserve.
Your comparing apples and oranges, I respect nascar and at any racing level you have to have skill. Still, there's really no argument against Hamilton being the dominant driver in terms of pure driving skill. Acceleration, turning, and braking all while under 3-4 G's of force crushing your body and preventing you from turning the wheel. I just don't see those kind of split second reactions under those conditions in a nascar race. Just saying but for real apples and oranges.
@JBurtonFan9931 two people have already explain to me that NASCAR has a few other tracks other than the circle already faggot. so chime out your fucking faggot, I didn't ask for your two cents idiot.
@iTitanium Because it's the close racing actually, we consider it boring if a race is won by 5 seconds or so. And even the driving the oval tracks varies from track to track, basically the only ones that you can pretty much hold the throttle down the entire way around are Daytona and Talladega. Martinsville is a half mile paper clip shaped track, and involves a lot of braking. Pocono is triangle shaped, with 3 distinct turns, really tough to set up a car for.
F1 fans and NASCAR fans shouldn't hate each other and argue over pointless rhetoric. We should act like Stewart and Hamilton, with respect for both sports. They are true ambassadors on this day for their respective sport I must say.
@Lights0ut1109 A lot of F1 fans dont hate NASCAR, they simply dont respect it as much as they respect F1, the moment I see a NASCAR race in Monaco that will change...
@Lights0ut1109 Amen man, while I prefer F1 I first got into motorsports with Nascar. As they said in part two they both might be very different, but they are also very similar. You could make jokes that Nascar is more simple, but keep in mind that there is no computer monitoring the car it's all about instinct. It could be said that F1 is for snobs, but I'm willing to bet the average Joe could watch that an F1 Race and find a lot of joy in it.
Im a Die Hard F1 fan and watch the odd Nascar Race here in the UK. But i expected Tony to be faster since he has lots of experience in Open Wheel Cars while Hamilton has next to none in Stock Cars.
F1 for me is the better Motorsport but Nascar has its own type of excitement that i enjoy and without a doubt want to see Live as Oval racing is very exciting. Stock Cars beat Touring Cars but Lose to Open Wheelers for Me.
Loads of differences between the cars and driver styles. Dunno why you lot are all slating one driver or the other. As a guy that used to race cars myself i think its fantastic to hear the engines and immerse myself in the speed of these cars and think its a cool idea to let them swap and let ALL true race fans appreciate other types of racing. Who knows this might just gain F1 and NASCAR new fans!! For that alone you should all shut up and enjoy!!!!
800+ HP in a 1 1/2 ton car with a live axle, steel brakes, manual transmission, and basic aerodynamics is frankly scary. Even on ovals where "all" the drivers have to do is turn left, it should be clear to any reasonable person that it takes tremendous skill to race. Probably a modern sprint cup car has more in common with the F1 cars of the "turbo era" in the 1980s, massive power and far less downforce and grip than a modern F1 car.
-This was a great event with 2 great drivers. Both sports are different & both are at the top of their game.
Im a Hamilton & F1 fan, obviously I dont understand nascar but Im not going to disrespect it.
How was Lewis 'completely lost'?
-The tv guys were saying they were really impressed with Lewis & Tony also said he was very impressed as Lewis was pushing the car. Also Lewis hasnt driven on this track, in a tintop car in that weather.
@SupaSix1 Tony hasn't driven the Sprint Cup car in the wet either, and NASCAR doesn't use part of the track they were using, Tony had to watch another series race to see how it was done.
@zzifGirzz Look you've commented on pretty much every video. No-one is listening to you. Why are you watching a NASCAR related video if you hate it. Jesus some kids are morons today...
I dont' know much about stock cars, but I can tell you that was a completely different car from the one Lewis won the world championship with in 2008. Yes, the engine is the same, I'm pretty sure the tires too... But the chassis is absolutely different, they've added all this things to the original one to increase the downforce. That is what makes the car "stable" on the track, keeps it stuck like glue to the asphalt and makes it easier to drive. Did they do sth similar to the stock car?
Dangerous guy Lewis, give him fast car and let him practise 10 laps and you see how fok fast he will be, driving on wet weather whow dont fok with him
On an F1 circuit you have a bigger margin if you are driving a Nascar. Anyway i respect both sport, as it is very difficult driving at the highest level, each one has its own difficulties. I recomend also the BTCC and DTM, where you have more overtakes and everything is a bit more even.
@roguelead72 You are completely right. I must say i havent seen much of those V8 Supercrs, as i am from Spain and it is hard to find those kind of races, but i have seen them some time on internet or Eurosport and i find them really competitive and equal. There are Holden Monaro´s in those races right?? And i also cant forget the WRC, those drivers are incredible, fastest hands and what makes it interesting is that you need a co-pilot. Regards.
@MrXaxo86 We don't get to see too much V8's here either, Speed Channel sucks in that regard, so when I do get to watch them it's a treat. No those are Holden Commodores not Monaro's that the run in those races.
you cant compare the two. love f1 but nascar is cool too. you need skill for both formulas. f1 shud go to the glen, wud love to see nascar over here in the uk
the seat swap is a cool initiative ofcourse, but it must also be fun for Lewis to drive his championship winning car again, this defo looks like it's the '08 Mclaren
As an American so called "yank" I really love watching F1 and NASCAR. I have not missed a race, no matter how late I had to stay up to see it in 12 years. Even after this display of talent by both drivers, F1 fans are still gonna take they're ""professional"" opinions and try to downgrade all the things that Lewis said about the stock car and play down Tony's attempt in the F1. Both are professionals and the fanboys ON BOTH SIDES should actually listen to whats being by the drivers.
both did very well, though its obvious on a performance and technology level the f1 is in a galaxy above, throw a big engine in a heavy chassis, tune the toe angle for easier left turns, and go round doing left turns, thats cool, il watch that, but if you want truly exciting racing then theres f1
Don't watch Nascar myself because I find it boring, but it was nice to see Lewis in something different. Well done to Tony for driving the F1 car very well!
@Kadieboy1 lewis hamilton and tony stewart both use iRacing...In fact Tony Stewart just did some iRacing promotions last month after using it for the first time.
Jimmy Johnson and other NASCAR drivers have used iRacing to learn the 'boot' when they raced in Grand Am for example.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
All i keep hearing in this video is two yanks making excuses on why the NASCAR does not compare to an F1 Car . NASCAR is a brick on wheels. Doesnt take any skill just turning left.
Ok you've made degrading comments on both this part and the last one. Why not just quit watching? And they're not making excuses, they are explaining differences. Yes I'm a "Yank", and yes, I am a fan of both F1 and Nascar. If you'd shut up and watch, you'd find Tony had a better go of the McLaren than Lewis did of the stock car. Tony had at least an idea of what to do, but Lewis was completely lost. What does that tell you? It DOES take skill to drive a stock car.
@iceman83458345 With all my respect, i think you are wrong. I am an F1 fan, been for mny years and i think they both got on quite well, but you can see Lewis in his final laps he was even trying to drift the Nascar auto. On a curvy circuit you have more control over a Nascar than you do in an F1, and the other way round on an oval. So i think it is a bit more difficult to drive an F1 car on curves, also think you have up to 20 buttons on the steering wheel wich you have to know by hart.
@iceman83458345 I agree that the hating is stupid. Motorsport is motorsport. But I wouldn't say Tony had an easier time at all. Infact, if you read the write-ups most race journallists say it was the other way around. But on a scale of 1-10 of how much it matters, this is about a -2. It was just fun to watch them both have a go.
@iceman83458345 not getting at you or anything but it did later on say Tony had driven in the indy 500 (Champion) before so he is WAY more used to what he is doing. And Lewis was not at all completely lost, he did well out on track for his FIRST time ever driving a stock car. Not to mention that Tony wasnt using the F1 car controls at all which you usually would be correcting throughout the entire race, Tony also wasnt using KERS or the DRS which adds further complications
@iceman83458345 Nobody is denying that, but considering you say "lewis was completely lost", its funny that he should beat tonys best time by 8 seconds........, can you imagine how much hed of thrashed him if he 'knew what he was doing'
Not to mention tony has a history in single seaters, and lewis has never driven anything with a roof.
When I said Lewis was completely lost, I really should have said that he is basically in uncharted territory with a compass that at least works. He had pointers from Tony and LOADS of his own talent...If I were him and single-seaters were my bread and butter, I'd be excited but also very nervous to drive a stock car or touring car with shitty brakes and 45 degrees of body roll...
@iceman83458345 its all cool mate i was just working out where yoy stand, im fukcing stoned and pissed right now so apologies, but yeah ignore wankers that diss anothe series of racing, f1, nascar, who gives a sht, motorsport is god. no matter what formula.
@iceman83458345 Ok, Tony had a better idea of what to do, because he's raced indie cars before which are similar in setup to an F1 car, but Lewis has never experienced something similar to the Nascar driving position, gear change etc. but I hardly think he was completely lost whilst in the stock car, it does take skill but lewis wasn't lost, he took around 8 seconds off of Tony's time in the wet, about the same as Tony took of his, and Tony didn't have to make any adjustments like F1 drivers do
Driving a Nascar in the wet is harder than Driving a F1 in the wet. F1 races in wet condition all the time, they have setups for that. Tony Stewart even said he hasn't driven in wet for a decade! I don't think it takes more skill to drive a nascar than a F1, but Nascar isn't easy either. F1 is all about data, They put tony in a simulator! All that has prepared Tony and like he said, lewis was spot on with tips. While Tony was able to tell lewis what?, prob not much
This is true. But when you are use to flying a high-performance fighter jet and then have to climb into the cockpit of a cargo plane - and make it perform well, wouldn't you have problems? Bad analogy. How about a F22 Raptor vs a F-15.
@iceman83458345 no disrespect to nascar, but stock cars have miles less downforce and are heavier, which would explain lewis's worse go. switching from f1 to nascar would be like going from a toyota corolla to a full size pickup truck.
@LewisHamilton1991 If NASCAR takes no talent then explain to me how Tony Stewart was able to get those fast times? NASCAR drivers are some of the most talented drivers in the world. Driving a Stock Car is like driving a big truck and trying the get the same performance as a sports car, and the NASCAR boys can do that, while keeping the cars under control.
@LewisHamilton1991 You are an ignorant and sad person. "Doesn't take any skill just turning left". Sure, go race Nascar against the elite, you would probably crash the first thing you'd do. I mean, why even say such a thing? Do you say such thing about other sports also? Baseball for example, I bet it doesn't take skill for you because anyone can swing a bat.. Right? Grow up!

Nice to a F1 car at the glen!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
All i keep hearing in this video is two yanks making excuses on why the NASCAR does not compare to an F1 Car . NASCAR is a brick on wheels. Doesnt take any skill just turning left.

@LewisHamilton1991

@iceman83458345 That guy is an idiot. But let's not make anything up. Lewis did a great job and so did Tony.

@iceman83458345 doesn't Lewis destroy Tony in the end? His best lap in the stock car was 2.11 and Tony's was 2.18
toomuchskin 8 months ago 2
@iceman83458345 not getting at you or anything but it did later on say Tony had driven in the indy 500 (Champion) before so he is WAY more used to what he is doing. And Lewis was not at all completely lost, he did well out on track for his FIRST time ever driving a stock car. Not to mention that Tony wasnt using the F1 car controls at all which you usually would be correcting throughout the entire race, Tony also wasnt using KERS or the DRS which adds further complications
dudeman123098 8 months ago 2
@iceman83458345 Nobody is denying that, but considering you say "lewis was completely lost", its funny that he should beat tonys best time by 8 seconds........, can you imagine how much hed of thrashed him if he 'knew what he was doing'
Not to mention tony has a history in single seaters, and lewis has never driven anything with a roof.
FRAFPDD 8 months ago
@FRAFPDD

FRAFPDD 8 months ago
@iceman83458345 Ok, Tony had a better idea of what to do, because he's raced indie cars before which are similar in setup to an F1 car, but Lewis has never experienced something similar to the Nascar driving position, gear change etc. but I hardly think he was completely lost whilst in the stock car, it does take skill but lewis wasn't lost, he took around 8 seconds off of Tony's time in the wet, about the same as Tony took of his, and Tony didn't have to make any adjustments like F1 drivers do

@iceman83458345 well thank you for spoiling what we all want to know, who did best. Screw you.

Sorry...guess I thought I didn't have to put "SPOILER ALERT" in a YT comment.
iceman83458345 8 months ago
@iceman83458345

What a load of crap, the commentators are so irritating.
Impossible to compare the drivers and cars so I won't.
MERCKXWOOD 8 months ago
@iceman83458345 completely lost? haha
so youll quite happily have a go at someone for making 'degrading comments' but thengo ahead and make a stupid comment like that yourself
both good drivers in their individual fields swapping cars. Thats it.
....although in my opinion Lewis is the better racer and F1 demands more of the driver, but hey....my opinion

@Dustevo8 You have no idea. No power steering. Gear lever, Giant stearing wheel. A pain in the ass is what it is.

@iceman83458345
This is true. But when you are use to flying a high-performance fighter jet and then have to climb into the cockpit of a cargo plane - and make it perform well, wouldn't you have problems? Bad analogy. How about a F22 Raptor vs a F-15.
jamrbrow 8 months ago
@iceman83458345 Its said without a doubt that being an F1 driver requires better motor / reaction speed and strategy skills.

@iceman83458345 ur not suggesting Tony has more skill that Lewis are you? :P
malayatom 8 months ago
@iceman83458345 no disrespect to nascar, but stock cars have miles less downforce and are heavier, which would explain lewis's worse go. switching from f1 to nascar would be like going from a toyota corolla to a full size pickup truck.
superchargedbenz 8 months ago
@LewisHamilton1991 If NASCAR takes no talent then explain to me how Tony Stewart was able to get those fast times? NASCAR drivers are some of the most talented drivers in the world. Driving a Stock Car is like driving a big truck and trying the get the same performance as a sports car, and the NASCAR boys can do that, while keeping the cars under control.

They turn right several times at this circuit, but sure.
Enjoy being an ignorant fannie.

@LewisHamilton1991 kimi raikkonen would disagree.
juan pablo montoya won monaco in 4 tries...150 tries encounting and he can't win a race only turning left.
Fortunately Lewis has a lot more class than his fanboys do.

@SuperColossal33
yeah but f1 was less competitive when montoya was in it...

@SuperColossal33 Your right, the one race he's one was at Infineon. Their actually racing there this weekend.

Right? Grow up!
