  • He gets emotional during the performance, and it shows up in his voice. True artist...

  • I am a 16 year old man and I nearly cried listening to Lonesome Tears.

  • i agree! live it all..... but if the was an\other album like Sea Change i would be fucking stoked. Sea changes one of my favs of all time.

  • Fighting for a lost cause?

  • That Gibson Jumbo sounds a hell of a lot different than his Martin. He makes it work though.

    Beck + Smokey = Win.

  • I love this version, this song is speaking to me at this time.

  • what a beautiful performance, you can really hear the sadness in voice and see it in his eyes, rare to see...thanks for posting!

  • Can anyone tab or show how to play the piano in lonesome tears? I cant get it

  • He was hanging out with Elliott Smith a lot at this time.

  • how do you know?

  • please give us another sea change Beck! Dont get me wrong, i love the funk, but man, when this guy's heart is broken, i'm all ears.

  • i think sea change is a unique kinda work of a godlike genius.

  • hahaha what the hell?!

  • hahah! YOU HEARD ME!

  • why is this so out of focus?

  • technology of 2002

  • wow, unbelievable... the emotional power of 'lonesome tears' even without the LP's glorious orchestration is staggering

  • pure perfection

  • If you like this you will love his BBC Four Sessions at London's Union Chapel. Its really unique and just damn good.

  • Beck is freaking nuts! It's crazy that this song is written by the same person who wrote "Loser" or "Debra"

  • he succeeds in every style of music.

why is that he can do everything and not one thing boggles the mind.

    hes plain awesome.

  • awesome

    5* ^^

  • Holy shit this is amazing.

  • crumbs

  • This is good.

  • lol at the asshole piano tease

  • What a genius, unfortunately we do live in the "American Idol" era of music but its times like these that I feel blessed to be alive the same time as Beck

  • Never mind those 'Idol' fools, they'll dissapear into the ether like a bad smell, while real artists will continue to make beautiful work. Beck is one of a kind though.

  • not if it earns more money

  • Sea change is a GREAT RECORD! And this songs are beatiful!

  • never thought i would cry hearing a song..:(

Beck is a genius...a living legend.

  • This some is just so mesmorizing..

    amazing.

  • Sea Change-Modern Classic!!!

  • I really love that song

  • Nunca Me Atrajo La Musica Que Hace Beck

    Pero Realmente Admito

    Que " Sea Change "

Es Uno De Mis Discos Q mas Escucho

    Y Por Lo Tanto Favorito

    Triste A La Vez..

Pero Cada Tema De ese Disco

Me Ah Dejado Varios Recuerdos =)

    Beck Nice!

  • what key is this in and dont tell me its F

  • G :)

Played as though it's in F, but with a capo on second fret.

  • Nope. It's played in C with a capo on the second fret, so it sounds in D.

  • Sea Change is the most jaw-droppingly beautiful album I have ever heard. For some reason, the sadder the song is on this album, the happier it makes me feel to hear it. Sorry to get so serious and personal on you.

  • you wouldn't feel happy hearing it if you had been through what he went through

  • I have sea change, but it's not the acoustic version that's on it. I just LOOOOVE this acoustic version so much.

Guitar and his voice...wow..do you know on what album I can find it?

  • do you mean the acoustic version of lost cause, yeh. I got that, I just bought sea change today and its got lost cause acoustic version of it. but I am not sure whether lost cause is always acoustic, because I haven't really seen a piano version of it.

  • o my god me too thats so wierd

  • This is Beck's break up album :)

  • Beautifull! <3

  • The whole album is the sound of a bitter bloke who''s been dumped by someone he loves.

    Ergo it's ace.

  • Yeah but the someone he loves is the world.

  • ?????????? hahahahahha

  • Just think what Beck had to go through to write this beauty of a song!

  • he had to go through some really Mixed bizness and took too much Nicotine and gravy is what he went through!

  • imagine the suffering an artist goes through to create such great works of art! All for the public to enjoy it! ...Haunting!

  • I think BECK is incredible, my fiancee took her own life almost a year ago and listening to sea change leaves me in a state of limbo. But I still love Guero and Mutations has some great songs on it.Thanks for the post

  • i bought this album by accident a couple of years ago im so glad i did, i now own all his albums of which i think sea change is definately the best.

  • Beautiful stuff !!

... he still has plenty of hurt to share.

  • where did this video come from>

  • This is from a morning radio show Beck has been on several times throughout his career. It's called "Morning Becomes Eclectic"

  • I never thought much of beck, but then he wrote Sea change and I was blown away. The amount of pain and beauty in that albumn is unbelievable. Thank you, Beck. I don't want to know what you had to go through to write something that amazing.

  • on one hand sea change was a really great album but on the other hand he was doing such a blatant Nick Drake imitation that its hard to give him too many accolades for it.

Especially since Nick Drake has largely been an unknown musician and had recieved no accolades during his life

  • I don't know who drake is, but I'll check him out. Thanks for the tip.

  • Nick Drake was a musician from the 60s/70s that did acoustic based type music in the style on sea change.

Beck did a song called Sunday Sun which I guess is a homage to Drake's song Saturday Sun

  • A commerical on tv for a car ad used a Nick Drake song"Pink Moon"in 1998 that revived interest in his music."Pink Moon"came out in 1972,all acoustic. His Record company said no one will buy this style of music,Drake over-dosed on barbiturates after the release of Pink moon at the age of 27 years.

  • he was 26

  • Oh yeah yer right! You know that's the magical age of many deaths of many rock stars! true story!

  • thats beulty

  • what a beautiful performance of lost cause. my god, i feel like crying!!

  • I love this so much.

  • I must be a "new" Beck fan, cause I've never seen him play piano.

He is a genius. No such thing as too many superlatives for him.

  • Wow this is great, I didn't know about this KCRW session, I have almost all of them on disc (except this one obviously). Thanks for the post.

  • talent, genius, everything. thanks for 2 amazing songs, sea change is timeless and one of my favorite albums

  • thanks

  • Beck is a freaking amazing artist... how is his voice always perfect heh thank you for posting this!

  • Holy crap, you never see Beck play piano. At least I haven't. That was pretty sweet. I knew he played piano but I didn't know he was that good.

  • yeah he must be post grade 5!

  • i kno its crazy to me hes like a white prince could just go in the studio and record an whole album by himself
