I'm also going to throw my hat in the Haters of DRS camp. I'm also not such a big fan of KERS as is. I think KERS tech is really cool, though, and would like to see that encouraged, but not as a push-to-pass with a limited number of uses per lap. If I had my way, KERS would continuously feed in extra horsepower for the teams that have an efficient enough system to recapture that much energy. That's a)more useful a technology and b)brings back tech innovation in F1 instead of contrived solutions.
i think drs should be available to anyone who isnt leading the race so the pack can catch up to the leader.i want to see a fight at the front, not in the middle. id also like to see drs not being used in qualifying. id also like to say vettel is making this season really boring
I have seen every F1 race since the start of the 94 season so I guess that puts me in the old school F1 category lol. I am not a fan of DRS at all, just like you guys its removed all of the drama and hard work from F1. I would rather see one single pass that was hard fought than sit and watch 100 passes that were created by a new technical system. Oh and here in NZ you have to pay for F1 coverage and even then its only the race and nothing before or after. God bless the internet though hehe.
I'm really enjoying the kers and drs, i do think Canada might be a bit more difficult, especially with there being 2 zones. I do hope they just allow the drs to be activated to give the following car a bit of extra speed accelerating out of the corner rather than for a full straight. Just to get behind or next to the car infront and not just brush straight past them.
2010 may have been a great season overall, but the racing itself could've been better, though it had improved from the levels it was at during 2004-2007 or there abouts.
Ultimately, if the FIA wants more passing, they need to find a way to police the vortices that the engineers are now deliberately making and creating more turbulent air.
The way to do that is not to constantly cut downforce (as that's obviously not working) but mandate a maximum drag coefficient and frontal area.
Just saying that i'v been watching F1 for as long as i can remember, i'm only 16 but i'v seen enough exciting races to convince me that f1 doesn't need DRS to be exciting. Last year was unbeleivable, people hailed it to be one of the best seasons for years, so with the pirelli tyres and KERS already introduced, what was the need for DRS. the two DRS zones for canada will be a disaster for any fan of true racing.
i agree with your point about the DRS guys its too easy to overtake, but i dont agree with the point that the car in front shud be allowed move twice to defend the position. If you remember back to canada 1998 with michael and damon in the jordan, it was nearly a hideous accident, even kovalainen and webber last year showed the dangers of moving cars in front. We need to reduce the aerodymanic efficiency of the cars, which should create more of a tow :) thanks
gday guys ... yeh i agree i dont like the DRS and KERS and Pirelli Tyres iam sorry about that but thats my opinion ... but i still love / get a hradon watching the F1 cars runing around love them :)
Also DRS is no guarentee of a pass and we've see that already too. Cars that are pretty much equal still have difficulty passing each other even with DRS. As someone else said already we had a perfect example with Hamilton trying to get around Vettel.
Not sure what's more boring, seeing the guys pass slightly slower cars using DRS or seeing them stuck behind them lap after lap. Just because you're faster doesn't mean you have enough power to quite get around someone on a straight. DRS just lets them get by and get on with the racing which to me is far more interesting. Before it was way too easy for a slower car to hold someone up lap after lap. To me that was also very boring.
In Canada I have to pay an extra $40 a month to have the channels to watch F1. Did that last year but not this year. This year watching V8 Supercars on youtube and loving it : )
Glad to stay up to date though watching your channel.
I guess they implemented DRS so it would be easier to pass, cos that makes the race more enjoyable to watch. That explains the 'why', but not if it's the right thing to do. I'm still doubtful, although I enjoy overtaking, in a race. But it's got very little to do with skill, as Pep pointed out.
I think moving twice would be too dangerous and could lead to massive shunts as with DRS the difference of speed is quite significant. Turkish DRS did seem too easy, Barcelona, it didn't work at all, proves the track is broken and should be for testing only. Most of Barcelona overtakes were due to tyres
f1 fans should have the ability to download f1 races from formula1.com if you're not able to view the races live, that way you can view it at your own convenience, even if you have to pay a few dollars per race, i wouldn't mind having that option.
as for drs, the worst thing that a race with too much passing is a race with no passing.
i've watched f1 for a long time and i remember plenty of extremely boring races with no passing, and while i don't like drs it's nice to see passing in f1.
I agree with DRS, however if they can get the distance of the DRS zone right it would become much better. Max's idea would be too dangerous and repeats of the accident between Heikki and Mark would happen too often. I think they should just get rid of the DRS, the Pirelli tires are making the races exciting enough.
1:29 "KERS system", Max? As in: "kinetic energy recovery system system"?
I pretty much agree with you about the DRS (system), although I think we should just get rid of it, instead of trying to fine tune it. It's cheating. It's simple as that. For me it brings nothing exciting to the sport. I think 2010 was a great season without DRS or KERS. We don't really need that.
You guys are legends. Keep it up please, young daughters or not!

I have no problem with DRS but i do not condone double DRS zones.

New rules can't be too bad. Alonso and Hamilton seem to be happy with the DRS. Enough said!

DRS is a work in progress, and I've been watching F1 since 1987. It's all about placement on the track, Turkey was an exception, I think.

Since there were no restrictions on who could use DRS or when, I would welcome it.
The way it is implemented now makes the driver which is in the front doomed.

Here's an idea, although you can't do podcasts together that regularly, hows about doing a few individually, perhaps on a weekly/fortnightly basis?
