  • anyways...

  • Now this is a true gangsta pimp...all these "thugs" nowadays should take notes...fucking cocksuckers.

  • A true gentleman; he didn't make her swallow. This guy's got class!

  • This is the best scene in the history of television.

  • Ian McShane is magnificent.

  • Best fucken western i ever seen, never read shakespeer, but there he is.

  • my favorite part is where he says fuck

  • @SUCKITHARD02 Sure, there common people who led decent lives. But that has little to do with acquiring territory (i.e. nation building). That's where the brutality and lies come in. Just look at what happened to the American Indians, for example. Look at the birth of almost any nation and you'll see this again and again. In 6,000 years of recorded history there have been less than 800 when wars weren't happening. That tells you all you need to know, so I'm not sure what your point is.

  • @SUCKITHARD02 Are you kidding? Of course I know it's fiction, but that doesn't change the truth of my earlier comment. The particulars of Milch's story might be exaggerated here and there, but the facts of lies and murder still stand. Check out a history book.

  • "What dya fucking lookin'?" Priceless

  • Deadwood represents the birth and expansion of a nation in microcosm, specifically the U.S. It was, as almost all nations have been, founded on murder, greed, lies and other pleasantries. There's nothing pretty about it, regardless of what our public education tries to tell us. Milch used abundant profanity to assault the viewer, thereby creating a feeling of unease and violence that was our westward expansion. He is a brilliant writer, and anyone who can't see that is not worth wasting time on.

  • sounds like a rap sound... garbage

  • @jwb864One of the greatest shows on TV and one of the best actors of our time and this is the best you can come out with?

I sure hope they don't have cable access in your part of the trailer park.

  • @j1607760 ok white trash

  • fuck counter just got over 9000!!!!!

  • Calamity Jane rulez!

  • You got a fuckin' stagecoach to catch? Slow the fuck up! *lol*

  • The character of Swearingen in the book was greatly expanded and nuanced by Ian McShane and the writers. He's despicable, but with a strangely profound understanding of himself and the pragmatic nature of the frontier. And the clueless dolts who go on and on about misogyny need to get a fucking history lesson and stop being sheep to political correctness. Nobody is applauded the treatment of the women in the show, but that's the way things were until they got better.

  • What misogyny of the period? This was a place in the American West where women were scarce. Women weren't treated with such disrespect and cursed at in public. That's solely a modern construct and completely untrue of the period.

  • If only it were like this today, it would be so much simpler.

  • I mean at least he didn't make her swallow eh!?

  • Now is that so hard for a fucking bitch to understand? All that was required of her was to "S.T.F.U. and do her job...but noooo she had to reply. Fucking women just don't know how to obey orders and "SHUT THE FUCK UP."

Good man Al. Hey bitch get over here I got a job for ya...and you don't have to swallow.

    Dave......from fucking Canada

  • @b1ftse37 Your Mum would be so proud to read what you typed onto the internet, well done

  • What the fuck did I just watch?

  • Best scene of any show ever on broadcast television, and anybody that disagrees sucks cock by choice

  • You have to admire a man who can monologue while getting a blowjob.

  • What ever happened to John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart gunning down Lee Marvin on a dusty street?

  • @DrRedhawk We all grew up and decided we can handle true grit.

  • @SemiousofAP I like how you used your reference to the recent remake. Y'know, I was thinking about that, and the point of the production code wasn't to keep the "auteurs" down. It was more of a business action to create things in the code. It would be bad business if someone were to do something out of morals. The motto was "audiences from 8 to 80," and they didn't change it until the audiences changed. Plus, there's more to movies than morally ambiguous behavior.

  • @DrRedhawk The point of movies and television are the same now as they always have been to tell a story and entertain (while the fat cats make a huge profit). The only difference between now and then is that we have evolved to a point beyond "good" good guys and perfect marksmanship and the rest of the shit that made everything so easy to read and boring. We want dirty language. We want to be entertained and believe it. Deadwood gave us that.

  • @SemiousofAP You can believe this is how people in that situation would act. We aren't all so noble as John Wayne. Btw i love John Wayne grew up on his movies.

  • @SemiousofAP Well, at least you have some appreciation. It's just that to me, as a film student, good movies don't need spectacle to be good. To me, it says "OOH!! Look at us!! We're so bad!! We use bad language!" So? I can go to a family reunion and hear worse! I will watch more of this show to get a feel for it and try to understand what it really means. As someone from the West, it's just hard to watch when you grow up loving the classics. I don't find the Duke or Jimmy Stewart boring at all!

  • @DrRedhawk I understand what you mean but at the same time as a film student you should really appreciate the characters and their development especially Al swearengen I would suggest finishing the series.

  • @DrRedhawk The show's creator, David Milch, speaks all over the place about the way that the vulgarity was in part meant to "batter" the viewer's sensibilities, and in doing so, make the viewer "experience" the sense of lawlessness and lack of "protection" that pervades Deadwood. Milch is also pretty big on re-contextualizing language (John from John from Cincinnati perpetually re-contextualizes others' words). Deadwood as a whole is "society" in the context of lawlessness.

  • @DrRedhawk ...in other words, he was trying to provide a more active experience, because it's difficult for us viewers, used to the conventions we're used to (i.e. some of the "western" conventions you've mentioned) to "experience" the show in anything other than a totally passive way, witnessing a lawless society. Milch wanted to make the viewer "feel" that lawlessness, and so you get the vulgarity, and here the juxtaposition of important plot/character details with a blow job.

  • @DrRedhawk ...so the vulgarity is hardly spectacle. If anything, the romanticized versions of the "west" that many of the classics gave us were far more spectacular. Deadwood re-orients the viewer for the series' content, and those aforementioned classics, many of them, either worked within the conventions of the viewers or re-oriented them to expect chivalry and soft-spoken mannerisms. Anyway, the vulgarity isn't spectacle.

  • @SemiousofAP There's a reason why they call old films "Classics."

  • 14 people must like talking while sucking some D

  • BEST casting ever!

  • @sounds73 I agree. Every character part is spot-on. I didn't think Olyphant (correct spelling?) was suitable at first, but now can't imagine anyone else...

Booth and McShane match each other for sheer menace.

  • @infradig8 isn't it nice, that people are sharing the same opinion, even though they're thousands of miles

    apart..happy new year :-)

  • @sounds73 Cheers!

  • Boardwalk empire is miscast and not on the level of The Wire,Deadwood or the Sopranos.. Although I like Buscemi, he is not an intimidationg presence ,or a leading man. Gandolfini would have made a better Nukie Thompson, who was a burly man in real life. I suppose he is forever type-cast as Tony Soprano, however. All TV actors should defer to the brillaince of Ian McShane as Al!

  • Lovejoy

  • Much agreed, SadClown. TV has been through a bit of a renaissance lately.Deadwood,The Wire ,The Sopranos are the all time top tier.Other shows, like Brotherhood(RIP),Mad Men and Breaking Bad have made this the greatest generation of serious television shows in our lifetimes. Thank Christ for cable!

  • I love the fact that everytime he is with a whore he phycoanalyze himself

  • @bulletproofisobel lol That's what I noticed too! I Like when he goes back and fourth between 2 of his problems, 1 His mother, his shitty childhood & her cocksucking and telling the girl how to behave & to shut the fuck up when she is in his presence

  • This has to be the all time greatest rant in television history.

  • probably one of the greatest final line i've ever seen. after all that anger, all that aggression and sorrow....all he can say is "anyways"

  • thats how women are suppose to be treated

  • no it fucking isn't

  • @breeeegs why you say that breeeegs hhhhmmmmm i wonder who you are

  • You got a StageCoach to Catch!!! .....HA!!!

Al's Sensitive!!! He didn't make her swallow!!!! Al Swearengen's a GOOD Man!!!

  • You got a StageCoach to Catch!!! .....HA!!!

  • They had this on TV?

  • My personal top 3 series:

    1. Boardwalk Empire

    2. Deadwood

    3. Spartacus: Blood and Sand (i'm really into exploitation cine/comic-book-stylish violence thing)

Still have to watch Sopranos and Sons of Anarchy.

But Jesus Christ, just when I thought Dennis O'Hare was amazing in True Blood 3; shitty series, I just watch because I don't like leaving things unfinished but D O'H took the cake in season 3).

Ian McShane is simply ASTONISHING. He reminds me of Daniel Day Lewis. Only less subtle.

  • @Jinx1337

If you liked Boardwalk Empire enough to place it as #1, you'll absolutely love The Sopranos. I'd probably rate Sopranos as #1 and Boardwalk Empire as a close 2nd ;)

  • @Jinx1337 less subtle than day lewis? idk, gangs of new york and there will be blood were pretty wild. lol

have you seen The Wire? you'd probably love it.

  • gross.

  • @PremiumNetwork What would he say?

  • greatest show ever made!

  • whoa whoa whoa whoa....you got a stagecoach to catch or something ? .... LMAOROFL, OMG Al was the best.

  • to WileeC:

Al Swearengen (aka Swigin) was great. This scene is classic. All the classic scenes in Deadwood had Swigin in it. Other famous scenes: Mr. Wu explaining that the opium was stolen, Al getting the newspaper man to reopen his store etc.

  • The Blowjob Soliloquy.

  • "Now I see what the fuck is front of me and I don't pretend its something else. I was fucking her and now im gonna fuck you. if you don't piss me off or open your yap at the wrong fucking time. the only time your supposed to open your yap is so I could put my fucking prick in it. otherwise you shut the fuck up". lmfaoooo this scene is classic! I couldn't stop laughing "you understand? yea, shut the fuck up! huh gimme that! You! suck my dick and shut the fuck up! huh".

  • @hippnotik Wow your clever way to go for writing out the scene we have just watched, fool.

  • Swearengen has alot of personal demons. Which is what makes his character complex. Ruthless & aggressive exterior holds a vulnerable interior...

  • Unfortunately they had the choice of finishing the Sopranos with that money or continuing to produce Deadwood. Given its use of natural torchlight and daylight it was one of their most expensive endeavors ever. The way it ended was a tragedy. It should have been seen to fruition.

  • Issues.

  • I LOVE this Guy, now thats a role model

  • @AaronSarkisian he would be a good father

  • There are women that like the character Al, despite scenes like this, or perhaps because of, I really like women like that.

  • @Hobgoblin1975 i know you made your comment a year ago, but I just saw it and have to say.. that as a woman, I looooooove Al. He keeps me watching Deadwood. Honestly. Yes no woman should be treated this way and though this is basted on History, it is also a show. And if a woman can look past that and understand it, then they are fucking issues. And hey! At least he let her spit it out! That's kindness!

  • 1:20 XD

  • Deadwood was a genius program and it was mistake to lose it. Or to decide that movie was not worth making.

  • Sexism is the greatest invention in the history of the world.

  • HBO gave us brilliance in The Wire and Six Feet Under. HBO gave us a pure masterpiece in The Sopranos. How did this same company make such a terrible decision to cancel Deadwood just as it was hitting its stride. This was a very fine show with great writing and well developed characters. HBO really did damage with that stupid decision.

  • Pure... epic !

  • ahhhhhh Romance!

  • the depth of the characters on this show, especially Al, was amazing. It really is one of the best series ever made.

  • yeah, watchin the 1st series and on eps.2 it's a good show, great characters

  • suck my dick and shut the fuck up huh!?? hahaha! great scene!

  • a romantic like no other.

  • What a gentleman. Telling her she could spit it out.

  • @londubh2007 Yeah, he was always good like that.

  • Simply brilliant - The scope rivals that of the Godftaher. Plot 10/10, charactersiation 10/10 evocation of a lost world 10/10. And to cap it all a darkly comic and endlessly inventive script. Quite remarkable.

  • such a complex and deep character. Ian Mcshane overshadows the rest of the cast and steals every scene he is in. Shame on HBO for losing this great program

  • @cruffrider5 HBO fucked up! the best tv show ever I could of watched 50 seasons! I canceled HBO becasuse their too liberal bias for me! I hate the new liberal hollywood!

  • 42 times = the fuckin "Fuck" word in a 4 minute scene.

  • Really love this scene. I always think people are more their experiences than their DNA. This former betrayal gives an insight to why Al is the way he is.

I think good dramas always have broken characters and by that I don't just mean flawed, but that they are past the point of no return. That is exciting drama.

    Great show.

  • Glad one person posting here gets the point :)

  • the only time your mouth opens is for me to put my prick in it lol

  • best show of all time.

  • Fucking great actor

  • Earl Anthony approved telling it like it is to all!

  • yea its 90's style fucks alot fuck fuck fuck me women

  • Goddamn that's a lot of fucks

  • Anyways...

  • this makes me horny every time i watch it

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • so much for dead wood..

  • hahaha, "what are you looking at"

  • go spit it out lol

  • There's an enormous difference between a misogynist character, and a misogynist show. By highlighting the misogyny of the period, and then creating powerful, believable female characters, Deadwood is then condemning misogyny. This show has been lauded as extremely feminist by some.

  • Context is important here

  • its a period piece, dope.

  • here here!

  • Shut the fuck up, you fuckin' prick!

  • I counted for the entire series....the word "fuck" was muttered an astonishing 2926 times in just 36 episodes. It comes out to about 3.65 times per minute. Well done, Mr. Milch. Thank you for a great program.

  • Well, I counted up everytime he said the word "fuck" in any tense, and the total is: 42 total fucks

Averaging to a whopping 10 fucks per minute (holy shit O.o)

  • lol 42

  • WHAT AN AMAZING MONOLOGUE!

    thanks - h

  • Ian Mcshane is a brrillant actor and this seen is great. Sweregen is a bad mfo. "You suck my dick and shut the fuck up!" funny lines!

  • The most fucked up part is.... I live near an actual street named Euclid Avenue. Is this show set in California? I'd laugh my ass off if it's in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA because thats where I live. I'm on 5th Street though, Euclid is a short walk from where I'm sitting in fact.

  • you joking right? you can't think he's referring to Eulicd Ave. in CA, hahaha.

  • WTF OZ is better? lol you just like watching big black bucks rape a bunch of white dudes....

  • no use arguing all HBO is good period

  • Anyways

  • Al has trouble connecting with people.

  • No he doesn't. he just has a problem with being surrounded by STUPID FUCKING PEOPLE.

  • "You understand?.... yes, hahah Shut the fuck up" lmao

  • Anyways............

  • are you kidding me. Each and every season of Deadwood was awesome especially the third.

  • i place deadwood with the wire and the sopranos as the three greatest shows ever. it's brilliant.

  • @SadClownMovies - I agree. Brilliant shit... with Deadwood being No.1... where else will you here a woman (Trixie) count, 1... 2... fuckin' 3? ((((-: I never get tired of watching Dawood.

  • 'Suck my dick and shut the fuck up!!' Best chat-up line ever :D

  • we need more deadwood

    3 seasons is not enough

4 or 5 would be awsome

  • He used the word '' fuck '' like hundred times

  • I love Al

  • Whoa whoa whoa, you gotta a stagecoach to catch?

    HAHAHA!

  • Greatest character ever

  • "Anyways". Best line ever.

  • So good.

  • BRING BACK DEADWOOD!!!

  • I thought the best part was when he told her she didn't have to swallow.

  • shut the fuck up and suck my prick

  • This was the scene that revealed who Swearengen was, where he came from, and turned the tide of sympathy a little towards him; up until this point, he was just a villian plain and simple. By the end of the season- that other unforgettable scene with the preacher- he had my heart.

    What an amazing show.

  • That was the difference btwn Al and Cy. Cy was evil just for the sake of it while Al was evil when business called for it. When some humanity towards the reverend was called for you'd find Al, Cy's solution would be to dump him in the woods.

  • awesome ha ha ha i love al best character ever

  • Epic! Been showing this part to everyone!! :))

  • What a sensitive love story...just in time for Valentine's Day....

  • lmao, bravo!

  • Classic! Epic show.

  • Does he pour whiskey on his dingaling at the end?

  • I NEVER thought of that...

looked and considered it, but no. :) Doesn't really look like it and I think he put his dingaling back in out of plain view before that.

  • People who like and dislike this show seem to do so because of the delivery and situations. What is often overlooked is that the situations rarely have little to do with the context of the entire piece.

In this case, him verbally abusing and forcing fellatio on the girl has little to do with the scene beyond providing a peripheral example of how dismayed he is at losing Trixie. McShane is able to portray Swearengen in complete and utter sorrow believably while maintaining his character.

  • finaly the real wild west not that pussy shit where its yes mam no mam lol this is how it used too be

  • You got a stagecoach to catch or somethin'? Excellent delivery.

  • i used that line on a guy that was sucking me off.

  • stfu

  • thats something not seen on TV everyday, so HELL YEA I LOVE IT!!!!

  • no, thats swearingen

  • ya its good but his kidney stones were gross

  • great show

  • brilliant series best ever

  • blacked3mirror,

Thats 20th century equal rights talk. LOL

You are forgetting about the historical accuracy. Blacks, Jews, Chinese, were all treated very poorly and unfairly. Women didn't have the rights they do now. Let alone prostitutes.

  • say what you will about this guy, i still appreciate the fact that he gave her a choice to spit, lol.
