When I read the part when he hit Richard Parker with an oar I was like "What are you doing Pi! Stop hitting that man!" I didn't know it was a tiger. lol.
There are a lot of great scenes in this book. The scene read here is only one of them. Richard Parker is one of my favorite literary characters even though he's not really anthropomorphic in any way.
For the people that finished the book, was the island with meerkats real? Is the story with humans real or animals real?

I love how when he reads as Pi, he speaks with the inflection of an Indian.

Strikingly emotional this passage when from his lifeboat Pi was encouraging Richard Parker (the Bengala Tiger) to swim until reaching the lifeboat...
