Correction. The "founders" did not create the Bill of Rights originally. They actually didn't want the Bill of Rights to even exist. They were practically forced into creating one because the states (namely the larger ones like VA & NY) said that the Constitution favored small states and therefore asked for the Bill of Rights. They needed the majority vote (9/13 states) on the Constitution, but couldn't obtain it, and therefore wrote 10 amendments, known as The Bill of Rights.

@jakeryescmg Which parts are you talking about? It says in the bill that those detained could be held until the "end of hostilities" without a trial. It does say the bill doesn't extend to American citizens, so I don't know. I'm wondering if there's another place in the bill where it does say anything like "America is the battleground too" that we keep hearing about.

@jazandrob The first 'Civil War' wasn't a civil war at all.. Civil wars are groups fighting for the power of the government in an area. Examples would be the ongoing civil war in Somalia where there are 4 governments trying to vie for power. The war between the states was two different governments fighting over the right to secede. The fact of the matter is, they did secede.. they had a united government in their area for months. The north calls the war the war of southern rebellion.

Correction. The "founders" did not create the Bill of Rights originally. They actually didn't want the Bill of Rights to even exist. They were practically forced into creating one because the states (namely the larger ones like VA & NY) said that the Constitution favored small states and therefore asked for the Bill of Rights. They needed the majority vote (9/13 states) on the Constitution, but couldn't obtain it, and therefore wrote 10 amendments, known as The Bill of Rights.
