just wondering about a clarification or answer, but after Johannes' encounter with Cthulhu, Cthulhu went back into R'lyeh, by deductive reasoning. While he was roaming free it can be implied the stars were in position for him to be awoken. So when he went back to sleep doesn't that mean that the stars were only in proper position for him for only a few minutes or hours? Assuming that he did go back to sleep after Johannes' escape.
Could anybody tell me what (if any) the best order for reading the Cthulhu Mythos books is? So far i've read At the Mountains of Madness, and the Shadows over Innsmouth.
@MegaAwesomePossem Honestly I wouldn't say it matter too much. I'd probably start with the longest stories and work my way down to the shorter ones since the longer ones are more descriptive
Thanks for posting this. I read the novella years ago and its really nice to listen while I work......actually maybe 'nice' is the wrong adjective...more like weird but in a good way.
The steam boat is being driven into Cthulhu's head as he is swimming after them. His head ruptures and explodes from the impact, but begins to regenerate.

The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
In ' The Call of Cthulhu ' H.P. Lovecraft mentions the book, ' The Golden Bough' which is a wide ranging study of mythology & magic in religion by Scottish anthropologist Sir James G. Frazer published 1890. It offered a modernist approach to discussing religion, treating it dispassionately as a cultural phenomenon rather than from a theological perspective. Robert M Price has studied many aspects of the stories & hypotheses humankind has dreamed up about imaginary cosmic & supernatural realms

@Hjernespreng I'd say the ship smashing through Cthulhu heads, which explodes, only to reform.
