She did die because of asthma... she died thinking that Jay Chou was in love with the other girl because she saw him with her bracelet, that's why XiaoYu ran away sad after the graduation. Not only was she sad that she would never see him again because of the destruction of the piano room but she also truly believed Jay was over her. That is what is most sad, the fact that she didn't realize how alive their relationship was.

How sad the way she died! She never went back for 5 months because of the kiss and when she finally gets to see him one last time after graduation she sees him having the other chick's bracelet and so she died thinking he loved the other girl :( I'm in tears right now.

@heartsBIGBANG I think it's because the table that Jay Chou wrote on was the same table with the table that Xiaoyu writes on. there used to be nothing on that table, but then Xiaoyu made marks on that table in the past, causing the table to have THAT mark in the future. So when the sentences started to appear, at the same time in the past, Xiaoyu was writing on that table, but the writings stayed for 20 years there, and Jay Chou saw the process when the mark was being written on the past

@Beastmast3r5254 the first person she sees when she travels to the future is able to see her. those 2 times, ching yi was the first person she saw, she she is able to see her. the other time, the janitor was the first person she saw so only he could see her. the first person she sees can see her, no one else can. there's nothing wrong with this movie.
