It obviously IS an OCS video... Notice the WOMEN? Thats why I was confused because I thought the SONG was a Ranger School thing. I have since discovered the song is also referred to as the RI them. RI=Ranger Instructor. So it IS a Ranger School song.
Theres a difference between leading a platoon and leading a squad. The whole platoon is in the hands of the Lt. Not the Sgt. If a platoon fucks up on one of its mission its the Lts fault not the Sgts. If a Lt is out on patrol and the shit hits the fan and you get 6 6 W.I.A. its the Lt fault not the Sgts. Our jobs is to bring you guys back to your familys. Every choice we make as officers May fuck up the whole Platoon, Company, battalion...Etc etc. Its harder to lead then it is to follow.
when the army was between to uniforms some units had been issued and some hadnt. I wore my bdu's until the sgm said he would discipline us for not wearing our new pos acu's.

good point by spartanthree8zulu asking how I can tell that this is a group of NG officers. I guess apart from the obvious straight line begging for a response laying out some "hit you in the face" sarcasm, my simple response is patches (the 38th and 34th Division patches are quickly identified without even looking closely) and bumper numbers of vehicles. I'll let others fill in the sarcastic observations.
funny thing is, while training to be a pl you notice that you are grouped with a lot of dumb fucks, there are great 2nd Lts out there but there are also a lot of people who think their the shit and really are not. listen to the nco's, best piece of advice
i got stuck with 3 fucked up pl's shit they were retarded looked like a goat fuck all the time one of them threw a grenade in the opposite direction of the bad guys
Well, if the "LT getting lost" problem exist for 100 of years, why doesn't the Army put more land navigation course for the officers school is beyond me.
@RamenOps ok listen here future PL...no one here is bitching about a dumb fuck butter bar wet behind the ear officer geting lost...what pisses most of us off is when we come up and say..."hey sir...your fucking lost...we need to go this way" and then he goes "hey SSG i know what im doing...get back to your squad" thats when we let them fall on their face....NCOs will be a PLs worst nightmare if they cross them the wrong way
@NoobSoldier2006 nothing replaces actual field land nav, nothing short of repeat and repeat training over different and varied terrain is going to teach someone how not to get lost, also, some people are just naturally better than others at land and air nav.
@NoobSoldier2006 Oh, they do. Some officers are just terrible at it. Some enlisted are too, but the enlisted guys who suck at land nav are never the ones who speak up to the LT. Or the ones who are leading the platoon.
Fact: There will ALWAYS be more E's around than O's. If there is ONE O who is lost there HAD BETTER BE at least one E who knows how to get him un-lost.
Really? National Guard OCS video covering a song about Ranger School? If you have not been through the Q course believe me you think you know this song but you have no idea. And to anyone who says "well we can share this song and be equals, it's really about leadership" go fuck yourselves its about the Q course.
roct advance camp 1993 ft bragg. man this just bring back memories of how someting your strac lanes can go good some day and on other days ,,yes watcha gonna do PL.

@skrullion During the Q Course they call the Patrol Leaders PL. That's why at the end they go "Fuckin No-Go. Who's next in charge?" as in "Who's the next Patrol Leader?" ... @rockon4ever182 Heck. The only hint I got that this wasn't aimed at LT's was when they mentioned the Alpha TL. I was like "Wait a sec... That's SL business."
Funny and entertaining. What the fuck are you bitches whining about who gives a fuck about the specifics. You are the same douchebags who couldn't shut the fuck up and enjoy Hurt Locker.
to some point you are right i dont even think you served cause you look to young i m a vet of dersrt storm and oif 2 lt s are there to make sure thing s get done but the plt daddy make sure everything done in detail and if you your infantry you go to the field regardless of rank and if your ranger are any spec op you go to the field
WTF? A female instructor in Ranger school? I don't think so. Not sure what kind of gay shit this is supposed to be, but it's NOT Ranger school, sorry.
There are 2 kinds of leaders, those who lead and those WHO NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY! I'm US Army SMP, I get REAL training and learn what its REALLY LIKE, not just textbook which is 95% wrong most of the time. A true leader had absolute confidence in his team, looks to his Sergeants for tactical advice and even on down to his corporals and privates for personal intel on the area of operations. Most officers focus on what can the team do for me, not the other way around as it should be
Reminds me of a quote I read in a military science book... "A good leader doesn't worry about his followers not knowing him, he worries about not knowing the minds of his followers."
there are good and bad officers and nco's. My pl is a pt beast he can outrun most of the squadron but he is a moron at tactics, my platoon daddy is an e-6 and is to concerned with ass kissing top to goivea damn about us, if it wasn't for our first line we would be screwed.
The best Officers I've been around have all been Mustangs... Get an Officer who is prior enlisted and knows how to deal with that side of the house and your off to a good start.
officers should not go in and out rank nco's. a twenty year-old officer know nothing compared to a thirty year-old nco. they shouldn't out rank an nco cause they went through a leadership course.
You gotta be smart, to lead a group of men into battle and keep as many of them alive as possible. i wouldnt wanting some high school drop- out leading me in combat

@Cheetolord
This is why I'm spending time in the NCO Corps before I drop my OCS Packet.

@Cheetolord 2nd..LT's need to STFU and just do what an E-6 tells them to do...

Ummm so the video is about ROTC or OCS (weak) and the song (which is funny as Hell) is about Ranger. Epic Fail. NCOs Lead the Way.
jamesallen1125 2 years ago
its rangers lead the way, the first to fight, the first to die. But to each his own i guess
fishcity100 1 year ago
And you are/were a Ranger?
jamesallen1125 1 year ago
brother is, hope to follow in his footsteps though
fishcity100 1 year ago
to some point you are right i dont even think you served cause you look to young i m a vet of dersrt storm and oif 2 lt s are there to make sure thing s get done but the plt daddy make sure everything done in detail and if you your infantry you go to the field regardless of rank and if your ranger are any spec op you go to the field

GTwerdak 2 years ago
WTF? A female instructor in Ranger school? I don't think so. Not sure what kind of gay shit this is supposed to be, but it's NOT Ranger school, sorry.
IaintTheHerb 2 years ago
it says OCS in the details
GTwerdak 2 years ago
Saw that just now thx; kinda odd to have NG OCS (not even the real OCS) trying to ride the coat tails of ranger school.
IaintTheHerb 2 years ago
actually you go to regular ocs now in the army regardless if you guard are reserve the guard has a pre ocs class you go to it mostly for rotc bitchs
rfbjr 2 years ago
There are 2 kinds of leaders, those who lead and those WHO NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY! I'm US Army SMP, I get REAL training and learn what its REALLY LIKE, not just textbook which is 95% wrong most of the time. A true leader had absolute confidence in his team, looks to his Sergeants for tactical advice and even on down to his corporals and privates for personal intel on the area of operations. Most officers focus on what can the team do for me, not the other way around as it should be
Spartan536 2 years ago
If he/she is a good officer, the person will worry about the welfare of the team over his or her own welfare. They'll lead from the front too.
bec2774p 2 years ago
Reminds me of a quote I read in a military science book... "A good leader doesn't worry about his followers not knowing him, he worries about not knowing the minds of his followers."

yeyman 2 years ago
there are good and bad officers and nco's. My pl is a pt beast he can outrun most of the squadron but he is a moron at tactics, my platoon daddy is an e-6 and is to concerned with ass kissing top to goivea damn about us, if it wasn't for our first line we would be screwed.
bobthekillerclown 2 years ago
The best Officers I've been around have all been Mustangs... Get an Officer who is prior enlisted and knows how to deal with that side of the house and your off to a good start.
B0ssho99 2 years ago
he's going to ask an NCO.
Neros666Lion 2 years ago
officers should not go in and out rank nco's. a twenty year-old officer know nothing compared to a thirty year-old nco. they shouldn't out rank an nco cause they went through a leadership course.
phlyegles43 2 years ago
well they also went to college. THAT is way they are ranked higher.
wemakethemARMYSTRONG 2 years ago
so what does college have to do with the battlefield?
phlyegles43 2 years ago
You gotta be smart, to lead a group of men into battle and keep as many of them alive as possible. i wouldnt wanting some high school drop- out leading me in combat
emachines007 2 years ago
i said college, not high school
phlyegles43 2 years ago
yeah nah fuck,
i said i WOULDNT want a highschool drop out leading me, i WOULD want a college graduate leading me instead
emachines007 2 years ago
i would want somebody with a fucking knowledge of a battlefield and that has led a group of soldiers before.
