i don't now man, for laptops and other electronic low g force, low speed issue this may work. but i am not wearing anything made with this until the organization that certified ce armor, certifies this.
This material is great and all but... Lol... "take a ball of gue, roll it up into a ball"... Or "if I simulate energy" ...and he said molecules and react too many times.. Anyone more than me who feels like this spokesman has a list of words he tries to use as much as possible?
I would line better armor in it. but not use it by itself. like make it an outer layer for hard plastic bike armor, and an inner layer for comfort... but i wouldnt use it by itself, especially not that thin of material
Where else can I take a ball of goo and form it into a ball and bounce it off the floor? How about the dollar store. Silly putty has those exact same properties.
and this d30 flubber is not even the same thing that comes into your protection device...this is just some cool display to convince a bunch of yuppy jackasses..
silly putty demonstrates the same non-newtonian behaviour .. stretch it slowly and it demonstrates plastic deformation . stretch it (strain it) quickly and stops demonstrating plastic deformation and ultimately demonstrates brittle fracture. You can learn alot about what makes this d30 substance by wiki'ing for silly putty
@ImSpartacus811 A non-newtonian fluid varies its viscosity with increasing tension or deformation speed. This concept does not consider elastic behavior. Silly Putty ans d3o are viscoelastic materials, like all polymers, but they are engineered to maximize this characteristic. When presure is aplied slowly, they flow, they behave like a fluid but when the pressure is suddenly applyed they behave elastically.

@lala91324 Ofcourse you will, the same way as if you had a huge suit of armor, the kinetic energy just travels through the material and into you like a shockwave. This happens because it hardens super fast and becomes very hard.
If it was like clay and much thicker, it would slow it down and absorb the energy in itself and not just channel it into you...
Even if it removed the pain itself, you would probably still be thrown backwards of the momentum...
@solitajre222 i said wont feel that much* i didnt say u wont feel a thing . . . . .. if ur suppose to feel the force of 2 wearing that thing may decrease the force makeing u feel only the force of 1 or smth so yea . . .. . as i said "U wont feel THAT* much" and as you said CHeers no hard feeling for sure : )
@SethHesio yes, anything that is fast and hard that thing will absord almost all the power...since this is for civilians idk if it can be "BULLET PROOF".
Technically it doesn't "lock up when struck", it's "hard" in short timescales (when things are getting hit), but soft in larger timescales that us poor humans live in.
If you want to know the reason why, it's basically a solid and a liquid at the same time! At any one snapshot in time it's a solid, but over time the bonds switch places and the atoms move like a liquid.
@Huntington188 You can get it in the forms of protective suits that you wold use for motorbiking and such. They make a couple of d3o ski racing armor suits but those are usually sold out all the time.

@SethHesio Sorta. It would stop a quick jab, but not a slow injection.
