  • Odd, I am playing the solos on the trumpet in our arrangement?

  • Im playing the eb clarinet in my schools band for this song. LOVE IT.

  • yeah! i played the oboe solo for this whooooollllllllle piece ^^ loved every second

  • The version my band us playing is lower level then the original so this movement is not in the piece

  • I played this in my all state band last year had first cornet part. it was a solo :] love holst

  • Im a percussionist and I had to sit out for this one due to lack of parts for an honor band :(

  • @CTguitarist12 aw that sucks! i got to do the one crash in this mvt:)

  • Why does this movement remind me of Lost Woods from Legend of Zelda? I'm just visualizing running through a forest and this song just fits perfectly. Maybe the music developers were inspired by this song, after all, it's a classic.

  • I play 3rd clarinet on this in my Symphony Band XD Last chair represent.

  • Im playing the solo clarinet part for dand n this is so cute and fun :)

  • I play every solo on every instrument in the whole suite. And i'm in 2nd grade. Bow down to my awesomeness.

  • @MrAtomicHearse Seems legit.

  • @MrAtomicHearse hey guess what my band is playing this in our second year... oh wait no one cares

  • teehee i play tambourine on this :) lol

  • 1:27 - 1:45 :)

  • I had to play the horn solo on this...so boss

  • It's all about the bass clarinet Solo's here, kiddies :3

  • @Muzzly1234 Africa: Ceremony, Song, and Ritual by Robert W. Smith. Best bass clarinet part ever. <3

  • Of all the pieces I've played in band class, this is by far my favorite. Dat cornet solo.

  • Lovely.. But i cant hear the baritone at 1:30 aprox?

  • Oi Our HS band is playing this piece XD

  • I still have this music..... hey I played clarinet, flute and percussion.... although Clarinet is an awesome instrument and I own a Bb and Eb clarinet as well as a flute.

anyways this song is awesome for Eb clarinet! this song brings back memories.

  • I love this playing this piece, especially the Eb part, which is great. Oh and this performance is excellent, light and full of vim. I have to disagree with those who say this is too slow, this tempo is just right in my opinion. Any faster and it would just lose, well, its Englishness!

  • I love this song out of the WHOLE suite <3 <3 <3

Its like a total woodwinds epiphany to me <3 <3 <3

  • The 4/4 section in the middle of this piece is beautiful, I love it.

  • WOO! BASS CLARINET! XD

  • triangle+tambourine=epic winning :D

  • I looooove how round the baritone sound is at the solo @ 1:55

  • @fredxoxoxo I loved playing that solo, it was awesome!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE. It's possible we are playing this for our spring concert... I am so excited for the challenge of playing solo Bflat clarinet :P

  • This is wayyyy to slow. hear a professional recording, its ridiculously fast, sounds better.

    (Go Bass Clarinet solo!)

  • @doubleoh18 Oh my god. This is slow? D8

-Is playing this in school and our tempo is slower than this-

    Orz.

  • @doubleoh18 This is actually pretty much the speed it's meant to be played at if I'm not mistaken. Besides, fast does not always mean better, personally I prefer it this speed, but you may have very different preferences than I.

  • @doubleoh18 basss clarinet soloooo<3

  • Wonderful

  • playing this on my baritone right now :)

  • that tambo player is legit

  • @dreamtheaterepicwin My school uses a rock-style tambourine. I am dissapoint.

  • i have about 4 clarinet solos in our upcoming winter concert, and the one that starts at 1:00 is most definitely my favorite. :)

  • @marchingraider15 My friend played that solo for us last year. It's always so gorgeous :D

  • ah thank you! this is the best recording out there, I'm so glad you posted this!

  • this is my absolute favourite solo I've ever played

but you don't really hear the clarinet in this recording (at the beginning anyway)

    it's clarinet/cornet I believe.

    clarinet ftw <3

  • @Keira13 Oboe too, but they're usually too quiet to hear under a clarinet and trumpet...we tried using just the oboe solo at this section during one of our rehearsals this weekend, and it was just not loud enough.

  • @omgzorzlikewow in high school we didn't have an oboist.

That would explain why I never heard the part :)

  • awesome! my band is playing this now. i play trumpet, and this movement always gets stuck in my head after playing it. xD

  • love this piece! post the rest!

  • @yeahhimynameiscool hey there, the rest of the piece is posted earlier, I just had to re-post this movement because it was not playing in some countries. I left links to the other movements in the information section. :)

  • @concertbandland awesome! thanks!

  • Classic. Played this song multiple times and on different parts... sax, tuba, clarinet probably.

  • Yes THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • We're playing this now! Perfect timing and great as always!

  • Aw yea! I played this in an honor band. Clarinet III... but who cares? Anything Holst writes always has sweet clarinet parts.

  • @musicguy119 Oh heck yeah anything Holst writes has very good clarinet parts...And challenging as well, testing the ranges of the 2nd and 3rd clarinets

  • @musicguy119 It also has sweet trombone parts. Holst played trombone, and so do I.
