  • Please bring back the rx7

  • 3:08 hun day?

  • wtf you cant bring back a car and have less whp...

  • btw. i think they should call the "new rx7" an RX16 since thats the engine theyre gonna use. Renesis X16. that way, it wont ruin the RX7s name and rep if it fails.

  • because of the low sales of the rx8, mazda dropped plans for the revival of the best rotary in the world! even if they dont revive it, im gonna buy a used FD from RE Amemiya someday.

  • I'm looking forward to return of a RX-7 with updated rotary.

But rotary updates alone won't get it 30mpg and also pass EPA. They're going to need to look at gearing and keep the weight way down - this won't be easy

  • Never happened, 2011 Rx7

  • OMG THATS TRASH GO DRIVE REAL AMERICAN POWR CAMARO SS!!!!

  • Mazda will fail as honda and toyota has if they hold back with a pathetic 200hp, it will sell to the ladies and the old guys who need a sporty car but nothing more than that. Too many other cars do 200hp and are better. I miss the 90s!

  • The 2012 RX7 should have 350 hp version and a 500 hp version so it can compete with the GTR and the LF-A

  • All his predictions are shit AHAHAHAHAHAH.

  • FORD SUCKS DICK therefor MUSTANG SUCKS DICK and Mazda RX7 is amazing

  • If you don't like low mpg then don't buy a sports car its simple.

His prediction of it will achieve 30mpg haha unless its like miata size cause alot of attention was put in just the FD to keep it light and it doesn't even get close to 30mpg. Even thou i think mazda should build a economy coupe just to establish more of a market for rotarys but shouldn't be named the next rx7 cause that will just poop on the name and should more be called the rx2

  • @20bwannab rx2's are sick, if theyr guna make an economical rotary they it shouldnt have rx on it at all

  • @darkrx777 yeah thats very true

  • i dont mean to be the bearer of bad news. but 94 fd gets roughly 20 mpg on highway. its not possible to get 30...mpg on rotary engine..........and theres no way it will sell for 20k, my fd new sold for 56k. roughly 40k is possible..maybe around there

  • haha love the predictions for the new RX-7... 30mpg.... yeah....

  • MAZDA needs to come with it, ford came with it, dodge came with it, chavy came with it, im not looking to save gas that's why i have an aveo, GIVE ME MY ROTARY POWER.

  • @Pbitms1 They aren't coming with it.. not with a rotary.. RX-8 was banned in Europe, and will be banned from America soon. The rotary isn't fuel efficient at all. yet, don't feel too bad as the STI and Evo are facing the same crap. Cheap, small, bargain cars are NOT efficient

  • @Pbitms1 Honda and toyota needs to come with it as well, lol they stopped making sports cars years ago sadly.

  • A light weight rx7 that competes with the miata would be brilliant, but is mazda this dumb to compete with themselves?

  • Why did he skip the 2nd generation Rx-7 FC3S?

  • to each his own, but the only thing i agree about his prodiction is that it will be a door coupe. i believe it will be out in 2012 or later. And no way in hell is it going to be in the low $20,000 range. I'll say $30-$40ks.

  • everything he said about the rx......ya ya.... sounds great but uh.....totally gonna have to slap some turbos on that. Throw some Ts on that on that

  • the new rx7 must not be ugly like the rx8 or the masdaspeed 3 just something old school ,gangster look under 1000 kg .

  • The new rx7 better not be a) a hybrid b) underpowered c) stupid

  • I'm kinda hoping it somewhat looks like the Furai, that car has to be one of the best looking concepts ever

  • i agree with your rx-7 prediction. The trend shoes that car makers are not increasing hp and also making current engines more efficient

  • RX7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @varcash If you want the most bang for your buck buy a Corvette. It will waste most cars on the road in every way and modified the sky is the limit with out wings.

  • I love my rx8, but if Mazda doesn't put some serious power in the new rx7...I'm gonna sell my 8 and by a Nissan 370Z.

  • Even if the RX-7 comes back, its gonna look ugly as fuck because of the recent facelifts Mazda has done ruining every car in production. Who the fuck gave them to go to do this?

  • I actually have been really unimpressed with japenese motor companies in the past few years

  • 2 Door styling

    $24,000.00 Base MSRP

    255 hp base version

    $30,000.00

325- 350 hp Twin Turbo version

    $76,000.00

    460 hp Mazadaspeed version

With Factory tuning for all versions

Death to the RX8 aka Lipstick Machine!

  • I totally agree....if Mazda is going to resurrect the RX-7, they owe it to themselves to do it right. It needs to be a no-compromise sports car. No rear doors, no rear seats, and honestly, don't even bother with an automatic transmission. (Think Honda S2000). Seriously, I'd be perfectly happy if they just built a modernized FD platform again! That was seriously one of the best-looking cars ever made, and it would still be exciting even in today's market. I trust Mazda will do this right...

  • If the new RX-7 indeed has only 200 hp as he says I will be thoroughly unimpressed.200 hp wasn't even that impressive in the 1960s, maybe in 1978, but in todays day and age, hell no.There are mini vans with more power than that.I am not against the idea of light weight vehicles with low HP,but honestly what has the Lotus Elise achieved in recent years other than radical looks?A platform for Tesla. That's about it.Mazda would be foolish to have HP that low.

  • i owned 3 rx-7s, in my opinion they shouldnt make anymore unless theyre going to do it right. i was dissapointed with the rx-8. its like taking a great movie and making a shitty sequel to it.

  • Oh NO!!! my miattaa!!!!!

  • @gillonba, i read japanese magazine that day, rumor say that rx7 will base on Miata platform and will be on the cheaper market side (miata price or mx5), might not power by 16x, but 1.3 renesis. where the possible rx9 will be power by 1.6x will fetch higher than the old rx7 price. DSG, chasis control, launch control ... etc

but is just rumour, it is sad to rebrand rx7 as mx5 ..

  • Cheaper than a Miata? Rubbish. It may not produce its full potential, and the 4th gen may be slower than the FD (cheaper too, hopefully) but it will certainly be more powerful than the RX-8, and more expensive than the Miata. Also, 30-35 mpg will not happen. Unless it's being towed. Maybe. I LOVE my FD, but I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

  • My dream car is still a 3rd gen. Exciting!

  • aren't you the spokesman for Subway?

  • loved all the hand mvements...

  • oohhh man im excited to see the new rx7, my dream car is still a red third gen.

excuse me while i mop the drool off my floor now

  • I agree a late 90s rx7 with an ls1,ls2, or ls3 v8 and 6 speed tranny would be on my top 10 list.

  • @jeffzahnd can you do that and keep the weight distribution? would be a waste to have a rx7 that cant corner

  • @lejink from all the information I've seen is that they handle just fine with an all aluminum v8 in it :)

  • 200 hp renesis . get ur stupid facts right . the host is an idiot . FD RULEZ BTW !

  • $79,000 to start, jesus christ! its gorgeous..but i do not like that tiny spoiler for that car..needs a big aggressive one....

  • my farts have 200 hp

  • too bad it would channel back into the engine as a turbo, it would just make your car interior stink...

  • @AWarlordsView mine have 300 with turbo and nitrous for that extra boost

  • i want to sell my fd and buy a new rx7 when they come out!!

  • I have waited patiently of mazda to get it together on the rotary, but FORD was no help when they owned mazda, deliberately stifling the progress of the motor. I had 1st generation motors and have been waiting for the miller rotary, or supercharged rotary that would boost low end and mileage...no dice!!! what gives...I won't buy another until I can get mileage around 25 to 30mpg period, out of at least 215hp.

  • im probably going to get shit for this but here it goes.

As much as Mazda tries, the Rotary engine will never gain real world popularity among everyday car buyers. Now, you must be reading this saying, "Hey my Rotary has 2000000000 miles" maybe thats because you read the handbook or did your homework before buying one. For people who dont like to read, or check oil, or redline the engine, or are complete idiots stick to piston engines, which by the way, happens to be the general public

  • predictions of the RX-7 are weird.

i doubt it'll have less than 220hp. I was originally thinking it'll have about 280.

The RX-8 gets 20mpg now. To increase the efficiency of the rotary by 10 mpg would mean that right now it is absolutely grindingly inefficient. The mustang increased power and mpg. The new RX-7/RX-8 is going to have to increase power. Horsepower sells that type of car.

  • i would never drive a faggy porshe.

  • still....why did they go and put skip shift on the new 5.0 mustang..i would rather pay gas guzzler tax and not have skip shift...i mean ya im sure there will be ways around it.but still..its a stupid idea made by a stupid person who thinks he has a good idea...i would say ok if it was slectable on or off

  • chwuwd, the 2011 GT has a 0-60 time of 4.5-4.7 seconds, and gets 25mpg. That may not be Porsche territory, but you are seriously underrating a car that's less than half the price of any 911.

  • not many people in the US drive Porsche or lambo kid, if thats where your head is then go to europe, nobody cares, the Coyote has a 0-60 of about 4.5s btw, idk where you got your numbers from, probably the 10 4.6

  • your talking about a weight less 911 and a heavy as fuck mustang wow great comparison sports car versus grand touring ps thats what gt means a mustang is a car made for upgrades and a 911 is a race car you are retarded.

  • i don't think swami dave is right. i want him to be right, but i don't think it will be priced under the miata. it will be lighter than the rx-8 but not much.

    i would rather have a 23k rx-7 than a 22k ft-86 though.

  • lol say good by to volvos famous safety record then =.=

*the Chinese truck crash test video*

  • and you would think that being an owner of the rx-8...which sucks gas when floored would know better...i hope the bring out a mid 20grand coupe...but make it Turbo and a real manual....no sissy paddles...and 250hp at least...screw this movement to push into an electric egg with wheels...AMERICANS like power.....

  • @ricetry97 all cars suck gas when floored. My Subaru Legacy GT got 5mpg on the track.

  • @drivingsports I drive subaru my self, got to love that car :)

  • Yeah i get that....They should...just saying...people don't buy Rotary cars for fuel economy...i'll take power over gas milage too...

  • @ricetry97 everyone loves power, I blame those fucking CAFE standards they will sacrifice performance in the name of gas milage..dont want those cars to hurt the eviroment... pahaha what a joke

  • those predictions are fucking way off... it wont be cheap. It will barely get 30MPG (less is more like it). Mazda knows 200HP won't do any good. It'll be 250+ HP.

  • i wana see a rotary do 30 mpg

  • in what way?

  • cant wait for the new rx 7 :)

  • Mustang II was a pinto. Very bad history of the mustang. Yes ford has technology to produce whatever they want, but no compeitior so it did not matter. Camaro came back, now we have to spank that ass once again.

  • Hope You Have An Awesome Christmas!!!!

  • it's about the handling not the straight line acceration.... I have owned 4 mustang from old 5.0 to 4.6 saleens.. RX7 is a diff. category.... and if the car was cheaper then , would have outsold the mustang worldwide so does the late supra...

  • the mustang is MY favorite muscle car and the rx-7 was and still kinda is my 2nd favorite import

  • Just put a new motor in a FD today. Apex seals broke and lunched the whole motor. I dont think they will have a 350 HP RX-7 eather.

  • I wander if they will offer a All white 5.0. White on the outside, white on the inside.

  • dam why no v6 turbo chargered engine in the mustang gt?

  • @BboyMobster because the gt will always have a v8, its the heritage

  • @stock881

Actually until the 2011 5.0 Ford didn't have the technology to push 300+hp with a V6 engine.... and older mustang had 4 cyl.. I have owned 4 mustangs until now..... heritage my butt..

  • i have ownde 4 stangs as well the gt's have been v8 cars, and didnt have the technology my ass, they just didnt want to do it, but since v6 camaro is doin 300 they decided to match it. and yea stangs have had 4cyl. but that has been base models or the older 5.0 body svo with the 2.3 turbo. and back in late 70's early 80's base models had some v6's. and dont bring into discussion the mustang II's personally i dont really consider that a stang it was just some dumb economy bullshit

  • Naturally aspirated engine are always more reliable and with minor tuning and flashing of 2011 V8 500 hp range should ba a breeze...

  • ABS tuning? WTF is that?

  • @apexdna Street anti-lock brakes have different thresholds than track setups.

  • Oh, thanks for the enlightenment...

  • RX7 FTW!!

  • both guys look like they just smoked 5grams of pot

  • We do seem a little more mellow this week. It must be that we normally have an espresso beverage before the show, & this week it was just a drip coffee.

Next week Ill down a couple of Red Bulls.

  • now dats more like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My god -- you remember what happened the last time you drank a couple Red Bulls? I had to make up three positions on the rally and we almost flew off a cliff trying to pass a Sonett.

  • @mohsin19999995

That supposed to be a bad thing?

  • NEW SILVIA!!!!!!!!

  • New silva!! omg

  • Good show ! Finally no bad jokes... it was really interesting ! looking forward to the rx-7 and shows like this one ! Keep it up

  • Hahaha, yeah about time eh :P This was a god one

  • el que se suscriba a mi canal yo me suscribo al de el

  • Awesome that you owned an GSL-SE, that was one of my first cars too, and the car that got me hooked on drivers cars altogether, I now own an FC RX7, and I can truely say, your on crack thinking that Mazda can get 35 mpg out of a rotary, I love my rotors, but the only way thats gonna happen is if jesus is reincarnated as some kinda of triangle obsessed super god.

  • @plav032 I don't think 30mpg is crazy if they keep it light and make a severe hp compromise. 35 is definitely on the high side and would require something amazing. That said, the current Renesis is now 6 years old. 50% improvement in MPG with 7 years of new development? I don't think it's totally unreasonable.

  • finally a mustang i can drive without feeling like a pussy
