Even today, with the air filled with the noise of jet liners leaving contrails across the skies, such a journey as the Graf made many years ago, would still fill one with wonder. To see the Earth from 1000 feet above, like a bird.
this was a fantastic film capturing a moment in history that most people know nothing about. The image quality was incredible and the footage of the Graf Z entering New York through the smoke trail was moving, incredible - art made real. A great film about a great story. I was moved to write a song about it, will post to Youtube some time if i can borrow some Zeppelin footage. I will post it here.
@yokhana Me too! I've been looking all over the internet to try and link all the Drummond-Hay's family history into one neat book. There are some amazing Drummond-Hay's out there!
This pictures are always giving me goose-pimples and an idea about the world in 1929.
However, Lady Grace Drummond-Hay didn't end her relationship with Karl Henry von Wiegand during their flight with the Graf Zeppelin LZ 127. It became a life-long accompanionship and ended on April 12, 1946 in the Lexington Hotel in New York where she died of her illnesses for being interned in a Japanese camp in Manila, Phillipines. Karl was always at her side. Both were journalists for Hearst Newspaper

I am so pleased to see this has been finished. Grace was my great-aunt and sadly I never knew her. This, in a way, brings her to life to me. Thanks.
