Excellent. Unfortunately, Gavriil Popov is a neglected composer. Listen to his symphonies, full of energy and rhythm. Unbelievable that his music seldom or never is performed.
This work was originally composed for a Soviet documentary, and was possibly the first such in the Soviet Union to employ the Theremin in the orchestration.
@jslasher1 The first was Patchenko with "Symphonic Mystery" performed by Lev Termen and the St Petersburg Symphonie Orchestra in 1924! Also Shostacovich was writting for Theremin before this piece, he wrote the score to the film Odna (alone) in 1931. To bad in this recording of "Komsomol" the Theremin is replaced by a Cello :-(
Is it possible for you to change the picture? Really don't feel comfortable seeing this when listening to such beautiful music

Wow!The introduction with the cello motive is very beautyful!

Good music, but with all respect, that graphic is ... inappropriate.
All of these men were bad, to greater or lesser extent - but you have two mass murderers portrayed:
Stalin and his regime may be responsible for as many as 30 million deaths in the USSR.
The numbers of people killed due to Mao and his policies are unknown for sure, but possibly over 10 million, but millions for sure.
Jokingly portraying such criminals as drunken party animals shows a disrespect for the murdered kids and adults
